Harish Rao urges govt to release Panchayat Raj funds
The BRS leader addressed a letter to the Panchayati Raj Minister, Danasari Anasuya (Sitakka), on Sunday. Harish Rao stated that as part of the comprehensive development of villages, the previous BRS government, led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, appointed 9,350 junior Panchayat Secretaries in 2019. These secretaries, he noted, worked diligently for the development of Gram Panchayats as per government instructions. He added that due to the timely allocation of funds to Gram Panchayats and the efforts of local body representatives and Gram Panchayat officers, Telangana villages had become a model for the country in terms of development. However, since the Congress government assumed power, the situation has, he claimed, deteriorated. Due to the lack of fund releases, the development of Gram Panchayats has come to a standstill, sanitation has worsened, and villages are now in darkness due to a lack of street light maintenance. He further lamented that tractors, provided by the BRS government, are now being handed over to officials because villages are unable to afford diesel or pay RTA tax.
The BRS leader listed a charter of demands and urged the Minister to address them immediately. These demands include: immediate release of funds related to Gram Panchayats; settlement of pending bills for former Sarpanchas and Panchayat secretaries for work already completed; regularisation of Panchayat secretaries working under the outsourcing system as Junior Panchayat Secretaries, as promised in the 'Abhayahastam' manifesto. He also called for special drives to be organised in villages during the rainy season to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases and improve sanitation. Additionally, he highlighted that sanitation workers have been facing severe difficulties due to non payment of salaries for the last three months and demanded immediate payment of their arrears.
Rao expressed regret that the salaries of data entry operators who conducted the household survey in November last year have not been paid until now. He insisted that their salaries should be released immediately.

NGT orders sewage treatment plants to be set up in 6 months for Ramnadi
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the Bhugaon Gram Panchayat, and the Bhukum Gram Panchayat to set up drainage systems and Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) to prevent waste water from being mixed into Ramnadi within the next six months. The order passed on July 24, in a case by activist Krunnal Gharre, also states that FIRs should be filed against villagers or PMC residents dumping solid waste on the banks of the river. The order by Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh and expert member Dr Vijay Kulkarni, based on a joint committee report, states that villages under the two Gram Panchayats and 23 villages included under the PMC are releasing untreated wastewater into the Ramnadi causing harm to the river. The order says, '…villages located on the bank of Ramnadi have not provided proper drainage network, also not provided treatment for the domestic effluent generated from the residential area…PMC has not provided drainage network for newly included 23 villages and also has not provided STPs.' The order report also mentions that domestic waste is being mixed into two PMC storm water lines connected to Ramnadi, causing further pollution of the river. The corporation has been directed to stop the flow of the domestic waste within the next six months as well. Bodies like PMC, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), and the Gram Panchayats have been tasked with ensuring compliance of no solid waste dumping on the riverbank. Gharre told The Indian Express, 'Another important point is that PMRDA has always maintained it is a planning body and not an execution body. The order implied that it has accepted our position that PMRDA is not just a planning body and it is responsible for execution as well. This changes a lot for citizens. And for sustainable development, we had asked that wherever there is no basic infrastructure local bodies should not grant building permissions. The tribunal said that they agree with this but as it is a policy matter let the state and local bodies make this policy.' Consequential pollution of the Pashan Lake happening due to untreated waste water being released into the Ramnadi can also be stopped if the pollution of the river water is brought under control, the order opines. KTR pins hooliganism tag on Cong; says industries fleeing
Hyderabad: The BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday alleged that the Congress leaders were threatening the Kitex company which has come forward to set up Textile Park in Warangal to provide 25,000 jobs and expressed concerns that there was a danger of industries fleeing due to hooliganism by the Congress leaders. The BRS leader made these comments while participating in the distribution of sewing machines and KCR kits to women in Parakala constituency as part of the Gift A Smile program on Sunday. Rama Rao alleged that Congress leaders were threatening Kitex, which has announced that it will provide 25,000 jobs in the country's largest Kakatiya Textile Park. 'The Congress' hooliganism to provide jobs to only those they recommend has led to a situation where industries are fleeing,' said Rama Rao, criticising that while BRS wanted to bring industries to the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park and provide jobs to the youth of Telangana, Congress leaders were conspiring to loot it vertically. The BRS leader further said that the estimates of Rs 137 crore prepared in January for the construction of a canal in the Kakatiya Textile Park have increased to Rs 297 crore due to the greed of Congress ministers and MLAs. The Congress leaders of Warangal district wanted to loot Rs 167 crore in the name of canal construction. He said that the looting being done by Congress leaders will not stop if they are not questioned and said that they will protest against these irregularities in the upcoming assembly sessions. In the recording, the MLA can be heard berating a government official over the phone for not recognising him and then threatening to hit him with to the viral clip, Bhai Virendra had called a local panchayat secretary in his constituency to enquire about the status of a death certificate for one Rinki Devi. However, when the secretary failed to recognise him, the MLA erupted. "You don't know Bhai Virendra? You want me to introduce myself? The whole country knows me," the voice, purportedly of Bhai Virendra, can be heard saying. The secretary, unfazed, responds, "If you speak respectfully, I will do the same. If you talk crooked, I will talk crooked. I am not scared of you".The MLA hits back, "Joote se maarunga (I will hit you with a shoe) and you can file a case if you want. You don't follow protocol.
