The International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) 2025 showcased groundbreaking AI-driven military technologies designed to enhance targeting precision, communication efficiency, and battlefield awareness. Defence companies introduced advanced systems leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and real-time data processing to equip armed forces with smarter, more efficient tools.
Genasys unveiled LRAD, a next-generation long-range audible device capable of transmitting voice commands up to 5,000 metres. With AI-driven environmental analysis, LRAD optimises sound transmission and identifies targets, ensuring clear communication even in challenging conditions. Widely used in naval operations, it integrates with Ethernet networks for remote control and smart connectivity, making it a valuable asset for modern defence forces.
Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS) presented cutting-edge long-range defence solutions, including air-launched cruise missiles with a 290-kilometre range and a Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) capable of striking targets with pinpoint accuracy at 140 kilometres. The company is advancing naval cruise missile technology with AI-powered topographic mapping for precision targeting in maritime operations. GIDS also introduced the 'Shahpar-III' drone, equipped with AI for enhanced targeting and combat data analysis. Capable of flying at 35,000 feet, it can carry a 500-kilogram payload, including up to eight weapons. AI-powered loitering munitions were another highlight, featuring drones that process real-time data to identify and track moving targets such as soldiers and armoured vehicles. These smart drones use advanced optics to distinguish between friend and foe, detect potential threats, and execute high-precision strikes with minimal collateral damage.
CONTROP Precision Technologies Ltd showcased AI-driven electro-optical and precision motion control systems for surveillance, defence, paramilitary, and homeland security applications. These systems provide high-resolution imagery in all lighting conditions, ensuring precise target identification and tracking while compensating for harsh weather. By integrating AI analytics, they enhance situational awareness and improve military decision-making.
IDEX 2025 reinforced the growing impact of artificial intelligence in modern warfare, highlighting the critical role of AI-powered defence solutions in strengthening military capabilities, improving response times, and ensuring mission success.

This effort aligns with the UAE's vision and commitment to cybersecurity as a key pillar of national security. The two entities discussed unifying efforts to reinforce the national cybersecurity system. They highlighted the critical role of close cooperation in protecting the country's vital digital infrastructure. This cooperation builds on the strong partnership between the Council and the Ministry, reflected in events such as the Gulf News Cybersecurity Forum 2024, Government Cybersecurity Summit 2024, and IDEX & NAVDEX 2025 exhibitions. These platforms demonstrate the UAE's proactive approach to strengthening cyber resilience and securing its digital future. Both the Ministry of Defence and the Cyber Security Council reaffirmed their commitment to the National Cybersecurity Strategy. Under wise leadership, the Ministry integrates this strategy into the military doctrine of the UAE Armed Forces. The Cyber Defence Directorate at the Ministry of Defence actively participates in awareness sessions, cyber drills, and events organized by the Cyber Security Council. Recently, a cyber drill at IDEX 2025 simulated an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) ransomware attack. The exercise involved 22 trainees, mainly from the defence and military sectors. During a meeting between Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, and Ali Mohamed Al Saridi, Director of the Cyber Defence Directorate at the Ministry of Defence, both sides emphasised the importance of the cyber drill held during IDEX 2025. The exercise involved 22 trainees, all from the defence and military sector, with most representing the Ministry of Defence. This military cyber drill is part of a series developed by the Council and highlights the Ministry's leadership in enhancing national defence capabilities. It also promotes knowledge exchange and raises cyber readiness across military and strategic sectors. Key points: UAE Cyber Security Council and Ministry of Defence strengthen cybersecurity cooperation Focus on national cybersecurity strategy and digital infrastructure protection Military cyber drill simulates real-world cyber threats to boost readiness This cooperation confirms the UAE's unified cybersecurity approach and its position as a leader in cyber defence and resilience.

MultiDyne to bring VersaBrix signal transport line to IBC 2025

The compact fiber-optic system handles everything from PTZ extension to bulk 12G and 10GbE over single fiber. MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems is set to return to IBC this September with major enhancements to its VersaBrix (VB) Series, a rugged and modular fiber-optic transport platform widely adopted by broadcasters and live production professionals. The company will present the updated system at Stand 11.C12 during the trade show, taking place from September 12 to 15 at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam. VersaBrix is engineered for flexibility across a variety of environments, from remote field applications and mobile flypacks to permanent broadcast studio installations. It offers uncompressed, near-zero latency signal transport over a single strand of fiber, capable of carrying 12G/3G/HD-SDI, HDMI 2.0, analog and digital audio, Ethernet (1/10GbE), intercom, tally, genlock and timecode. The platform supports a wide range of use cases, including extending PTZ and POV cameras or transporting high-volume signals across large venues or production trucks. One of the most notable updates for IBC is the introduction of a sleek all-white chassis option, available across all four VersaBrix form factors, two, four, six and ten-slot models. These new enclosures, designed with on-camera aesthetics in mind, are suitable for visible studio environments and maintain the same robust performance as the traditional models. Jesse Foster, Director of Strategic Accounts & Products at MultiDyne, said: 'VersaBrix is truly a Swiss Army knife for signal transport. You can move up to 18x 12G-SDI or 9x 10GbE signals over a single fiber without touching compression. And with new features like PoE++, HDMI 2.0, and our modular customization tool, we're making it easier than ever to spec the exact system you need whether you're in a truck, on a campus, or elsewhere that requires live broadcast.' VersaBrix's compact 1RU design and shallow 7.25-inch depth make it particularly well-suited for space-constrained environments such as mobile production units and small control rooms. It's also an efficient solution for temporary installations where traditional copper cabling is impractical, delivering high performance with minimal setup time. The system integrates smoothly with CCUs, routers and switchers, and supports both standard single-mode fiber and SMPTE hybrid cable. Low-voltage and rack-mountable, VersaBrix also supports remote power-over-fiber capabilities, making it a suitable tool for professionals involved in live sports, concerts, studio productions, and other demanding workflows. As MultiDyne prepares to debut these latest improvements at IBC 2025, the company continues to position VersaBrix as a go-to solution for reliable, flexible, and high-quality signal transport in modern broadcast and live production environments.
