No insurgency in Tripura now, visit tourist spots: CM to people
After laying the foundation stone for tourism facilities worth ₹ 67 crore at Chabimura in Gomati district, the chief minister said the northeastern state has a rich wealth of tourism from spiritual to ecotourism and historical structures.
"The tourist footfall at the tourist spots has been increasing with every passing year as the peace prevails in the state. The state which witnessed bloodshed due to the insurgency, has become a terrorist Free State after en-masse surrender of banned outfits- NLFT and ATTF," he said.
The northeastern state had witnessed large-scale violence since the 1990s. The main rebel groups included the National Liberation Front of Tripura and the All Tripura Tiger Force .
"The tourist arrival has increased to 7 lakh during 2024-25 FY from 5 lakh during 2023-24. This is a big leap in the state's tourism sector. The government is contemplating introducing tourist police to provide safety and security to the tourists because tourists prefer to travel safely," he said.
Asserting that tourism could be a game changer to boost the socio-economic condition of the rural people, the chief minister said the government has taken all possible measures to attract the tourists.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted the initiatives taken for the promotion of tourism in the northeastern state.
"Today, the chief minister laid the foundation stone for developing tourism infrastructures worth ₹ 67 crore at Fatik Sagar and Amar Sagar under Asian Development Bank funding. There will be one modern cafeteria, boating facility, pathway and 16 cottages with state-of-the-art facilities," he said.
Chowdhury said the Centre has sanctioned ₹ 97.70 crore to build 51 Shakti Peeth at Bandower in Gomati district under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.
"Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the Centre has sanctioned ₹ 48 crore to set up an eco-tourism spot at Sachindranagar in West Tripura district. Once the projects are finished, the face of tourism will be changed completely," he said.

Himachal CM urges Centre to explore feasibility of opening Shipki-La route for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday urged the Centre to explore the feasibility of opening the Shipki-La route in the state for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the chief minister mentioned that Shipki-La region has served as a vital Indo-Tibetan trade route, predating modern borders. He said that it has also been a cultural corridor for Tibetan Buddhism and ancient pilgrimage paths reflecting India's enduring civilizational ties to Kailash and Mansarovar. "Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh being semi-arid and situated in a rain shadow zone like Spiti, is less prone to monsoon disruptions which keeps the route accessible for most of the year. "The path from Shipki-La via Gartok towards Darchen and Mansarovar is comparatively shorter on the Tibetan side. Shipki-La also offers a more stable and unambiguous corridor, making it well suited as a long-term, dependable corridor for pilgrimage and cross-border connectivity," he said.

CM urges Centre to relax sand extraction, sound rules
Goa CM Pramod Sawant Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday urged Union govt to relax sand extraction norms, allow music beyond restricted times to boost tourism, and start a train from Pernem to Canacona to decongest roads. Sawant held a fruitful meeting with Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi. Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar was also present at the meeting. 'Discussed a wide range of environment and forest-related issues. Grateful for his (Yadav's) intervention and prompt resolution of most of the concerns,' Sawant said. He urged the Union minister to relax the sand extraction norms for the state, akin to those stipulated for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He sought amendments to the CRZ Notifications of 2011 and 2019, besides sustainable mining guidelines. Govt has said that the prohibition of sand extraction under these notifications adversely affected the availability of sand and the livelihood of dependent families. Sawant said Goa also made a representation to Centre to work out a solution to relax the 10pm restriction on amplified sound. 'To ensure that tourists are not inclined to go to other countries instead, we have requested Centre to work out a solution to relax sound restrictions beyond 10pm for events held at outdoor venues,' Sawant said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Sensação de queimação nos pés? Insira essa planta ao acordar G!Saú Undo A senior official said that as Goa is an economy largely dependent on tourism, it often bears the brunt of sound restrictions. 'Tourists who flock to the state with the aim of partying all night, as well as wedding planners, are often left disappointed with the 10pm sound restriction,' the official said. It has often been reported that locals from the coastal belt complain about loud music being played in their vicinity. State govt thus decided to crack down on loud music, and several FIRs were filed against establishments along the coastal belt because of noise pollution. With the tourism industry being 'severely hit' by noise pollution norms, Sawant raised the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi in Jan and urged him to bring reforms to create designated zones to allow music beyond 10pm.
