Bengaluru Police books 19 bars for ‘provocative' attire of female staff, poor hygiene, more
The Bengaluru City Police carried out raids in several bars and restaurants in the West Zone of the city and discovered numerous violations, including the 'provocative' attire of female staff and breaches of health, excise, and other regulations, ANI reported citing officials.
The raids were conducted after the Bengaluru Police Commissioner received details on illegal activities at certain establishments, the report said, citing a statement.
The bars and restaurants are located under the jurisdiction of Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park, and Ashoknagar Police Stations, where 11 special police teams were formed to conduct the probe.
The police found that 19 bars and restaurants had violated the regulations by hiring female workers dressed in 'provocative' attire who stood too close to the tables of the customer in an 'indecent' manner. Other violations included the absence of designated female security personnel, poor cleanliness in the kitchen, a lack of a proper smoking area and these places operating beyond allowed hours.
Meanwhile, customers found violating COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) regulations were fined immediately. Reports have been sent to the respective police stations for additional legal measures against the owners of the bars and restaurants.
Further, the police also found violations related to the health and excise departments. The relevant departments have been informed about the violations and have been asked to take action. Close monitoring of these commercial entities will persist in the coming days. If they violate regulations again, their licenses will be revoked, the report said.

The raids were headed by C Vamsi Krishna, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, West Zone and S Girish, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Division, including officers and staff from the Central and West Divisions as part of the 11 special police teams.

A sea of devotees gathered in Puri on Friday to witness the world-famous Jagannath Rath Yatra, as Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, embarked on the ceremonial journey from the Shri Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple. All rituals related to the Rath Yatra are being conducted as per schedule amid heightened security arrangements, with coordinated efforts from multiple security forces and district authorities. NDRF Deputy Commandant Naveen Rana said, "Our personnel are trained to handle all situations, including any medical emergency, structure collapse or any other. We had conducted four mock drills along with the District Administration here." The yatra drew lakhs of devotees, many of whom had travelled from different parts of the country and abroad to to witness the grand chariots of the three deities, Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balabhadra, and sister goddess Subhadra, at the Gundicha temple, where the deities reside for a week and then return to Jagannath temple. Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended a heartfelt welcome to devotees on the occasion of the annual Rath Yatra, urging them to participate with utmost faith and his message, CM Majhi said, 'Join the Rath Yatra with faith and devotion, witness the divine glimpse of Mahaprabhu atop the chariot, and receive His blessings.'

Case against MP Congress chief Jitendra Patwari for 'bribing' man to say he was fed human excreta

(ANI/Sanjeev Gupta) According to police, the villager alleged in an affidavit that some Congress leaders took him to meet Jitendra Patwari, who then insisted the villager make allegations of being fed human excreta by the Mungaoli village sarpanch, and bribed him to do so. On June 25, Jitendra Patwari posted a video of himself sitting with two men, who were alleging that they were fed human excreta. Targeting the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government, Patwari tweeted the over 8-minute clip with the caption, "Prime Minister Ji, @BJP4MP The jungle rule of power is crossing the limits of anarchy! A youth from the Lodhi community had "human excreta" stuffed in his mouth just because he asked for a "ration slip"!" Jitendra Patwari's tweet(X) Patwari further named BJP MLA Brijendra Yadav and said his supporters were behind the alleged incident. In the clip Patwari shared, the two men were seen crying, alleging they tried to file an FIR but the cops refused. "Why does #BJP consider Dalits, backward classes, and tribals as its enemies in Madhya Pradesh?" Patwari wrote, referencing an old incident from 2023 in which a tribal labourer who was urinated upon by another man. Patwari slammed chief minister Mohan Yadav, criticising the law and order in the state. However, according to Madhya Pradesh Police, the allegations of being fed human excreta turned out to be false as they were made on Jitu Patwari's demand. "Later, he (the villager) said that the allegations about this were false, and he made this allegation on Jitu Patwari's demand... Based on this, a case has been filed against Jitu Patwari and his aides under various sections of BNS," news agency ANI quoted SP Vineet Kumar Jain as saying. Reacting to the case filed against him, Jitendra Patwari said he would continue to raise his voice for the oppressed. "The opposition should fulfil its responsibility when there are atrocities on the farmers, Dalits and the government should take it positively and take action. Focus on aviation safety brings smoking on flights under scrutiny
KOCHI: Renewed scrutiny of aviation safety, following the recent Air India crash in Ahmedabad, has shone the light on a concerning trend: Frequent incidents of passengers smoking inside planes, particularly in lavatories. According to police, there has been an increase in recent months of incidents involving passengers caught smoking on board overseas flights. In just the past two weeks, two passengers were detained for smoking on flights arriving in Kochi from Gulf countries. Officers of Nedumbassery police station said that at least six such cases have been registered in the last one year. The latest incident took place on June 15, when a passenger from Chalakudy was caught smoking in the lavatory of a Dubai-Kochi SpiceJet flight. Airport security officials detained the man and handed him over to local police. A case was registered under Section 118(e) of the Kerala Police Act for public nuisance and endangerment, and Sections 4 and 21 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) for smoking in prohibited areas. Last month, a similar offence was reported involving a Thrissur passenger travelling from Dubai. 'In recent months, we have been receiving frequent reports of passengers caught smoking on board, mostly in lavatories,' said Rajesh T R, deputy superintendent of police, Aluva. 'Smoking on flights is strictly prohibited due to the threat it poses to passengers and safety. Many offenders use e-cigarettes, assuming these won't be detected. Since these products are more accessible in foreign countries, passengers often carry and use them mid-flight. Though the offence is bailable, we do file a charge sheet and the accused must face trial,' he said.
