Recently, IndiGo reported a sharp 20% fall in profit as air travel was impacted due to a conflict between India and Pakistan followed by weak travel sentiment after the crash of an Air India aircraft in June.
The airline, which has 60% share of India's domestic market, posted a profit of Rs 2,176.3 crore for the April–June period, down 20% from Rs 2,728.8 crore a year ago despite revenue being up by 4.73% at Rs 20,496.30 crore.
India briefly restricting flights from 32 airports in airports on the north and western border in May amid border skirmishes with Pakistan following a terrorist attack in April.
Yield- a metric for profitability for airlines also dropped by 5% as the airline had to reduce fares to fill aircraft which dropped by a little over 2%. The airline though gave optimistic note and outlined plans for expansion.

Pilot project uses steel slag for road repairs

1 2 Vijayawada: In a pioneering step toward converting industrial waste into infrastructure assets, the Andhra Pradesh government has launched a pilot project using advanced steel slag technology for road construction. BC Janardhan Reddy, special chief secretary for roads and buildings, investments, and infrastructure, inaugurated the experimental road repair work in Mandadam village near the secretariat on Monday. Reddy said that they have taken up the experiment following the instructions from chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He said that such innovative methods are being adopted and implemented on an experimental basis to provide better roads and quality standards. The official further said that it was part of chief minister's vision of creating "wealth from waste." He explained that that experts were monitoring the effectiveness of the "Ecofix" mixture, made from steel slag and tar, for repairing potholes during the rainy season. He said that road repairs and development initiatives will be undertaken in the future based on the findings of the pilot project. It is an excellent example of utilizing industrial waste for development. *As an instant-use material, Ecofix can be used to fill potholes on roads as soon as the need arises. It performs effectively even during the rainy season. *Unlike traditional tar repair work, Ecofix does not require heating. It sets quickly, reducing fuel costs and pollution. *Ecofix can be used even when water is stagnant on roads due to rain, making it an excellent solution for uninterrupted repair work during the rainy season. *Scientists from the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) have tested this mixture and identified it as a superior material compared to those currently in use, offering greater durability at a lower cost. *Using industrial waste reduces land, water, and air pollution. *This high-performance, low-cost mixture helps save public funds.

EOW revamped with cutting edge tech, friendly tools

1 2 Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the police has been revamped on the lines of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with stronger technical tools, faster investigations, and direct public access. The new measures were unveiled during a state-level workshop at the police headquarters in Lucknow. One of the biggest citizen-friendly reforms announced is easy public access to report financial crimes. Now, 112 (emergency helpline) has been integrated with EOW so that the common man can report cases of Ponzi scheme fraud, stamp fraud, plot/land fraud, multi-marketing fraud, trading, Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) fraud, and job fraud. "The agency is being transformed into a robust, trusted institution, both for professional enforcement and public outreach. Efforts are being made to ensure its officers receive professional expertise in line with the highest national standards," DGP Rajeev Krishna said. "To enhance the professional expertise of EOW officers, we have organised a day-long workshop with domain experts, including specialists from CBI, Enforcement Directorate and other central agencies. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The workshop focuses on various forms of financial crimes, their investigation nuances, and emerging challenges," he said. The DGP added that along with training and reforms, public awareness was a key component of EOW's new strategy. The agency has also developed eight animated booklets to alert citizens about different types of financial crimes they may encounter in daily life. "These animated booklets are being made available in both soft and hard formats. The aim is to educate citizens on how they might be targeted and how to stay alert and protected. We expect this initiative to significantly raise public awareness," Krishna said. Director general, EOW, Neera Rawat said, "The unit is being equipped with cutting-edge tools like a 24x7 Case Management Software (CMS) for real-time monitoring and faster case resolution. A new EOW logo, a citizen-awareness booklet, and a short film on financial crime prevention were also launched to engage and educate the public," she said.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu sets per capita income target of ₹3.47 lakh by 2025-26

1 2 Vijayawada: Emphasising that governance prioritising "vision, people, nature, and technology" will yield the best results, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu suggested that plans should be prepared with the goal of achieving quality living standards. The chief minister, who took stock of the gross state domestic product (GSDP) status with finance and planning minister P Keshav and senior officials on Monday, said improving the per capita income would enhance people's living standards. He set a target of achieving a per capita income of ₹3,47,871 by the 2025-26 fiscal year and projected a goal of ₹5.42 lakh per capita income by 2029. He reiterated that govt depts must prepare and implement advance plans in their respective sectors. "We should work with vision aligned to short, medium, and long-term goals. We must identify global trends and seize emerging opportunities. Programs should be implemented with a focus on people, society, families, and individuals," he said, and asked the planning dept to work like Niti Aayog and devise the best plans to put Andhra Pradesh on the growth corridor. He asked the officials to take a family as a unit while designing schemes and programs, providing basic needs. Along with welfare schemes, initiatives should be taken to increase their incomes, he observed. He noted that the policies and public mindset should align in a way that benefits the environment. He wanted the natural resources to be preserved while protecting nature. "Waste produced in one industry should become raw material for another, thereby initiating a circular economy," said Naidu. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beyond Text Generation: An AI Tool That Helps You Write Better Grammarly Install Now Undo He asked officials to integrate the best technologies into governance to provide improved services. "From healthcare to agriculture, technology should become a partner. If we develop vision-centred governance for people, while protecting the environment and integrating technology, we will achieve good results. That's why governance must prioritise people, vision, nature, and technology and work in coordination for the best outcomes," Naidu advised. The CM clarified that along with economic development, providing quality living standards to people of the state is essential. "Andhra Pradesh should become the state with the highest per capita income. Govt depts must work to bring about a better society and better living standards. Study how standards are defined at national and international levels. AP should play a key role in every sector. GVA is the primary factor in mining and agricultural production while GSDP grows only when the govt delivers welfare and development to the people," he said. Chief secretary K Vijayanand and principal secretary (planning) Peeyush Kumar were also present.
