Minister reviews P4 programme to create a poverty-free society by 2047
The government conducted a special review meeting on the P4 programme with district officials at Markapur on Saturday. Along with the in-charge minister, the meeting was attended by the Social Welfare Minister, Dr Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, district collector A Thameem Ansariya, several MLAs, Tourism Corporation Chairman Nukasani Balaji, and other senior officials.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Ramanarayana Reddy explained that the Vision Action Plan for Swarnandhra-2047 includes ten principles, with poverty eradication being one of them. Under the P4 scheme, the top 10 per cent of society's economically advanced population will provide various forms of assistance to help the bottom 20 per cent of families overcome poverty.
He explained that the programme involves mentors providing guidance in education, livelihood creation, and healthcare for chronic illnesses, as well as ensuring that families receive eligible government welfare benefits. The collector reported that 74911 Golden Families have been identified in the district. So far, 5434 mentors have come forward and adopted 31367 families. The administration aims to identify mentors for all families by August 15th.
Minister Swami emphasised that mentors should be identified to empower every poor family, stating that by 2047, there should be no poverty in the state as per the Chief Minister's vision. MP Magunta suggested encouraging mentors through CSR funds as well. The MLAs and TDP in-charges pledged to work in coordination with officials to make the P4 programme successful in creating a poverty-free society.

Gajuwaka MLA seeks reassessment of Vizag Metro route to safeguard public interests
VIJAYAWADA/VISAKHAPATNAM Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Andhra Pradesh unit president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday held deliberations with Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (APMRCL) Managing Director N.P. Ramakrishna Reddy, seeking a comprehensive reassessment of the proposed route of Metro Rail Project in Visakhapatnam. The meeting, which took place at the APMRCL headquarters in Mangalagiri, comes amid mounting representations from the local stakeholders, including the members of the Gajuwaka Building Association, residential communities, and small business owners who have raised red flags about the potential displacement and land acquisition implications of the current metro alignment. Mr. Srinivasa Rao, voicing these apprehensions, contended that the existing alignment, originally drawn up in 2015, may no longer reflect the realities of Visakhapatnam's evolving urban fabric. Citing rapid infrastructural expansion and shifting land use patterns, he urged that the design be revisited through an updated field inspection and ground-level verification. Emphasising that the metro project is an indispensable infrastructural leap for the city, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said its implementation must be people-centric and sensitive to livelihood concerns. In response, Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy assured the formation of a fresh technical committee to undertake a holistic review of the alignment, with a mandate to assess social impact and optimise land acquisition. The review is expected to balance engineering feasibility with socio-economic considerations, thereby charting a course that is both progressive and equitable. The Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project, in its first phase, envisions a 46.23-km network comprising 42 stations. The revised Detailed Project Report (DPR), recently approved by the State government, has paved the way for tender issuance on July 28. The ₹11,498-crore initiative will necessitate the acquisition of 99.22 acres of land. Social Impact Assessment (SIA) consultations held from July 16 to 18 identified 204 project-affected families and 108 families facing displacement.

TDP-led govt tarnishing Andhra Pradeshs image, says YSRCP
Amaravati, Jul 30 (PTI) The YSRCP on Wednesday accused the TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh of tarnishing the state's image by allegedly extorting industrialists, including a leading automobile manufacturer in Rayalaseema. The former MP claimed that leaders of the ruling alliance were demanding contracts, commissions and jobs, which he said could lead to factory closures and relocation of industries. 'The coalition government is tarnishing Andhra Pradesh's industrial and social fabric," YSRCP leader Talari Rangaiah said in a release issued by the party. 'Instead of visionary governance promised by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, what we see is extortion and mismanagement," he alleged. Rangaiah accused the government of 'plundering" the state's natural resources such as sand, quartz and liquor, and of stifling avenues of wealth creation. He further alleged that welfare schemes were being 'manipulated to benefit party loyalists, in violation of the principle of impartiality". The YSCRCP claimed that the number of welfare pension beneficiaries is 'steadily declining", while field assistants, animators and contractors are being retrenched, contradicting the government's promises of job creation. Rangaiah said the previous YSRCP ensured transparent and corruption-free delivery of welfare schemes through direct benefit transfer. This corrupt government threatens industries and impoverishes citizens, he alleged, calling for immediate corrective measures to protect Andhra Pradesh's economic and social future. Senior TDP leader G Deepak Reddy hit back at Rangaiah, accusing him of making false claims. 'These statements are not only factually incorrect but a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and cover up the YSRCP government's anti-industry track record," Reddy told PTI. It was under the visionary leadership of Naidu that the automobile company was brought to Andhra Pradesh, he said, adding that the state government at that time ensured a conducive environment for industrial growth, resulting in one of the largest foreign investments in the state's history. The automobile company created thousands of direct and indirect jobs, boosting the local economy and placing Andhra Pradesh on the global industrial map, he said. Contrary to the YSRCP's claims, Reddy said, it is their actions that have undermined investor confidence. He said the TDP is committed to transparent, industry-friendly governance and the creation of quality employment opportunities for the people of Andhra Pradesh. 'We call upon the YSRCP to refrain from spreading misinformation and instead focus on creating a stable and welcoming environment for investment and development," Reddy said.
