Miss World Opal Suchata Chuangsri opens up on her plans of visiting Ram Mandir, Ayodhya
Chuangsri spoke with IANS after her massive win, and spoke about the cultural ties between India and Thailand.
She said, 'I would love to visit so many temples here in India. I think it's very charming and like I said that we share a lot of cultures and traditions between India and Thailand. So it would be great to visit and to know those places'.
India and Thailand share a long history of cultural and commercial relations. In Thailand, the 'Ramayana' is known as 'Ramakien'. The Indian epic profoundly influenced Thai literature, art, and royal traditions. The story, while based on the original Indian Ramayana, has been adapted into a distinctive Thai version with its own interpretations and cultural nuances.
Lord Hanuman is given a more prominent role in the Thai version and is sometimes portrayed with a more playful character.
Chuangsri also shared her message for the women of Telangana, the state where the Miss World 2025 grand finale was held.
She said, 'I would say that first meeting all of the women here in Telangana, India. You all have really inspired me on this journey with all your strength and resilience and the beauty from within all of you. And all the support and caring that I have received from all of the women here in India. And I think that they are very strong and very capable of all the things they wanted to do in life'.
Opal Suchata Chuangsri has been crowned Miss World 2025 in a star-studded grand finale ceremony which was held on Saturday in Hyderabad, Telangana. She edged out Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia in the grand finale as the latter emerged as the runner-up.
For the ceremony, Suchata donned a white gown adorned with opal-like florals.

Mumbai: Actors Suniel Shetty performed some high-octane action sequences in their recently released web series, "Hunter Season 2" During an exclusive conversation with IANS, he shed light on the precautions that can be taken to ensure the safety of stuntmen during the shoot. Speaking to IANS, he demanded an industry status for film fraternity. Suniel said, "First of all, an industry must be looked at as an industry - it must get that status. We don't get the benefits that all the other industries get. It is very important to have insurance, and having training academies to teach action is also very important. Action directors should be licensed and certified, and there must be safety equipment. To hurry to shoot a scene, just because a film is near release - that is something that needs to change." He further added that whenever an action sequence is performed, everything must be done calmly. Suniel further stressed that all these things depend on the producer and the director. "So, all these little little things, if we are conscious of them, will make a lot of difference," he added. He admitted to being extremely conscious whenever performing an action sequence. However, Suniel added that he is not concerned for his own safety, but for the safety of everyone involved in the scene. Recently, a Tamil film stunt trainer, Mohanraj, passed away while shooting a scene in Pa Ranjith's "Vettuvam". According to the reports, the mishap took place as they were filming a car overturning scene, starring Arya. In the meantime, Suniel who essays the role of ACP Vikram in the series, talked about his role saying, "Season 1 was special. It had the thrill of discovery – of this world and of Vikram's journey. The audience saw him running from his past while trying to uphold justice. But in Season 2, that past catches up in the most unimaginable way. Vikram is pushed to his breaking point. He's a father on a mission, with nothing left to lose. This chapter took a lot out of me, and I think that truth will hit hard on screen."

‘Anomaly corrected': Priyanka Chaturvedi reacts to ban on ‘vulgar' OTT platforms
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray's faction) Member of Parliament Priyanka Chaturvedi reacted to the Centre's ban on several OTT platforms for allegedly showing obscene, vulgar, and 'pornographic' content and said that an anomaly has been corrected. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi was one of the leaders who spearheaded criticism against 'vulgar' content on OTT platforms earlier this year.(PTI) Quoting her months old post on X bashing such content and demanding action against it, she wrote, 'This. They added that the action was taken after the content was found to be in "serious violation" of laws in India. The action comes after the OTT platforms apparently ignored or circumvented warnings issued months ago. Sources in the broadcasting ministry said, 'While the platform removes or edits the web series for a temporary period, it either re-uploads or publishes the unedited version after a certain period, thereby attempting to circumvent the warnings.'

Payal Kapadia: ‘Neeraj Ghaywan's Masaan is a moment in Indian cinema'
When Neeraj Ghaywan-directed Masaan created a buzz by winning two awards — FIPRESCI award and the Promising Future prize in the Un Certain Regard section — at the Cannes Film Festival, 2015, director Payal Kapadia, then a student of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, candidly recalls her initial reaction to the film's success, marked by what she termed 'film school arrogance' and skepticism. 'Is Masaan really that good? We wondered. However, after watching it, I was moved by the way Masaan talked about caste and gender. Masaan is a moment in Indian cinema,' she said. Kapadia, the writer-director of Cannes-winner All We Imagine As Light (2024), was in conversation with Ghaywan after a special screening organised by Versova Homage Screenings (VHS) on Thursday evening as Masaan turns 10. Talking about Masaan's significance in Indian cinema, she said: 'It is not often that you see characters in Hindi cinema that (give the impression) we might have met them at some point or capture feelings that we must have experienced at some point in our lives. That's why Masaan is both universal and specific to a particular place. There are so many themes in the film. As cinema students, we were inspired by how this film had used a unique cinematic language — long takes and off-screen sound — in the mainstream space.' A compelling exploration of themes of love, loss, caste, guilt, and ambition, Masaan parallelly follows the stories of its lead characters — Devi (essayed by Richa Chadha) and Deepak (Vicky Kaushal). Ghaywan's initial idea was to explore the story of a man who works at a ghat and can't muster enough courage to speak to a woman he is drawn to. 'Later on, I developed a couple of other tracks. The concept of two people, who were slowly navigating towards each other, completely oblivious of their journeys ending together, was always there.' says Ghaywan. The special screening of Masaan was organised by Versova Homage Screenings (VHS), a community viewing platform created by two brothers, writer-director Rohan K Mehta and actor Prayrak Mehta. They started VHS in April 2024 with the screening of Avinash Arun-directed Killa (2014) and this was their 25th screening. For Payal Kapadia, one of the powerful scenes of Masaan is the ending, when Devi and Deepak meet at a ghat in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) and go on a boat tour of Sangam, which is the confluence of rivers: the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. 'The ending is powerful. It is about two people who don't know each other and have impacted each other. It goes so well with the metaphor of Sangam of the rivers,' she said. In response, Ghaywan said he always wants to end a story with hope. 'That was also the last shot that we took as the sun was about to set.' Masaan, which boasts of an impressive ensemble cast, features Shweta Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra and Pankaj Tripathi. When Kapadia mentioned how 'its characters are complex', Ghaywan said, 'I don't like unidimensional characters who are honest and sincere. As humans, we are flawed.' Ghaywan's second feature Homebound premiered at Cannes Film Festival's 'Un Certain Regard' section and will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September. 'For Masaan, I wanted a different kind of music. The inspiration was Udaan, which used rock music in a coming-of-age film so beautifully,' he said. The songs of Masaan were composed by Indian Ocean and the lyrics were written by Varun Grover, who also wrote its screenplay. The script deftly weaves references to Urdu & Hindi poets such as Akbar Allahabadi, Basheer Badr, Mirza Ghalib, Dushyant Kumar and Nida Fazli.
