After Aishwarya Rai, Wamiqa Gabbi highlights Karan Johar's support for Alia Bhatt in Bollywood; Reddit calls her 'gutsy'

Hindustan Times17-06-2025

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt made her grand debut with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year and rose to fame with films like Highway, 2 States, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and more. She is now considered one of the most bankable stars in the industry. Previously, several Bollywood actors such as Aishwarya Rai, Sonakshi Sinha and others have spoken about the support Alia received from Karan Johar throughout her journey — and now, Wamiqa Gabbi has also expressed her desire to "steal" Karan from Alia. In an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, when asked what she would like to steal from Alia, Wamiqa replied, "Karan Johar," and explained: "Because he has been her biggest supporter, and I think to have someone that powerful, talented and in that position — and to have that love that you share with that person, to have that person in your life — isn't that a beautiful thing?" She further added that she'd like to steal Ananya Panday's skin, Keerthy Suresh's humility, Varun Dhawan's energy, Shah Rukh Khan's legacy, and Kriti Sanon's height.
While some Reddit users were reminded of Aishwarya Rai's past remarks about Alia and Karan Johar, others thought Wamiqa was bold to say this. One user commented, 'Ash ki beti Wamiqa has more guts than nepo chaplus (She has more guts than nepo kids).' Another wrote, 'Aishwarya, Kangana, Kriti, and now Wamiqa! Alia keeps getting exposed!'
A third user said, 'Alia won't like this compliment. Aishwarya to Aishwarya lookalike — they're all saying the same thing.' Another added, 'It's absolutely true though. Alia would've been launched by the Bhatts if not for KJo. She wouldn't have her current career without his constant lobbying and support.' One more comment read, 'Finally, a celeb said it aloud about KJo and Alia — lol.'
Earlier, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had also commented on Alia's privileged position. She said, 'I've said this to her also — it's fantastic for you, the kind of support Karan has given to her from the beginning. To have that kind of establishment with you is very comforting. It's not tough to have it laid out for you for the longest time.'
She added, 'It's great for you as an actor, as there is only good work and good opportunities ahead. What's nice is she's also doing good work along with great opportunities, which are virtually there on her lap, literally, regularly. So, it's nice she is doing good work within that. So kudos.'
Alia will next be seen in Alpha, a film from the YRF Spy Universe, which also stars Sharvari. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film is slated for a theatrical release in December. She also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, in the pipeline. Wamiqa, on the other hand, will next be seen in the Netflix series Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom.

Jake Paul Dominates Chavez In Whitewash; Eyes Bigger Fights in Boxing Career

Jake Paul defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a 10-round cruiserweight bout by unanimous decision. Paul aims for tougher opponents next. YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul made light work of former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on Saturday night, cruising to a unanimous decision win in their 10-round cruiserweight bout in California. Paul, 28, controlled the fight from the opening bell, using superior speed and power to overwhelm the 39-year-old Mexican veteran. The judges at ringside scored the fight 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93 — all in favor of Paul, who extended his professional record in what has become a headline-grabbing boxing career. The fight marked Paul's first outing since his controversial exhibition with 58-year-old Mike Tyson last November. While that bout drew mixed reviews, Paul's performance on Saturday was clinical and decisive. Outclassed from the Start Chavez Jr., son of Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez, struggled to offer any meaningful resistance. The former middleweight world champion failed to land a single punch in the opening round—a trend that continued throughout the fight. Despite entering the ring with 63 professional bouts under his belt, Chavez Jr. appeared sluggish and out of sync, unable to keep pace with Paul's tempo or land significant offense. By the final bell, the result was never in doubt. 'It was flawless," Paul said afterward on DAZN. 'I think I only got hit ten times. Really, he just survived, and I thought I did great, going 10 rounds against a former world champion who has never been stopped." Big Payday, Bigger Ambitions Although Paul received a guaranteed purse of around $300,000 for the bout, total earnings from pay-per-view revenue and sponsorship deals are expected to land in the $8–10 million range. By contrast, he reportedly earned around $40 million from his Tyson event, which streamed on Netflix. Following his win, Paul wasted no time in looking ahead to potential high-profile opponents. 'I want tougher fighters. I want to be world champion," Paul said. 'Zurdo looked slow as shit tonight. That'd be easy work, too. 'Badou Jack. I want everybody. Anthony Joshua, Gervonta (Davis). And Tommy (Fury), stop running." Paul emphasized that he has no plans to slow down and wants to stay active as he continues to build credibility in the boxing world. 'As soon as possible," he said when asked about his return. 'I'm staying active, I'm fighting everybody. You've already seen my face hella. Get used to seeing it more." Squid Game Season 3 ending wasn't the original plan, creator reveals shocking last-minute twist and teases more deadly games ahead

Squid Game is back with Season 3 on Netflix, and fans can't stop talking about it. Released on Friday, 27 June, the new season has received mixed reviews from both viewers and critics, especially when it comes to the ending. Now, the show's creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has revealed that the ending we saw wasn't what he had originally planned. The finale of Squid Game Season 3 brings both sadness and a small ray of hope. It completes the journey of Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), who makes the biggest sacrifice of all, he gives up his life so that Jun-hee and Myung-gi's newborn daughter can survive the deadly games. The baby becomes the symbolic 'last one standing.' Gi-hun's final act touches even the heart of In-ho, also known as The Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun). Known for being cold and cruel, The Front Man shows a rare moment of kindness. He collects the baby from the arena and ensures she receives the full prize money, 45.6 billion won, in honour of Gi-hun's to Variety, Hwang said, 'When I had a vague idea of what I wanted to do in Seasons 2 and 3, I had a different ending in mind. But while writing the characters and shaping Gi-hun's story, I realised this should not be the way it ends. The new ending made more sense emotionally and was better for his character.'Hwang added that in his original version, Gi-hun was supposed to make the opposite choice in the finale. 'It was a very drastic change from my first idea to what ended up being the final story,' he explained. A big part of Season 3 is the clash of ideas between Gi-hun and The Front Man. Gi-hun believes people are basically good and kind, while The Front Man has lost all hope in humanity, thinking people are selfish by nature. This conflict builds up to their final confrontation, the emotional high point of the of the most powerful scenes is when Gi-hun, tempted to kill others in their sleep to survive, sees a vision of Sae-byeok (played by HoYeon Jung), his ally from Season 1. She reminds him, 'You're not that kind of person.' These words bring him back to his said this moment was key. 'It had to be simple but strong. Sae-byeok's words were the best way to stop Gi-hun from crossing a line.'While this season ends Gi-hun's story, and Hwang's involvement with the series, at least for now, there are signs that Squid Game could continue. In the final scenes, a new Recruiter (played by Cate Blanchett) appears, hinting at a future game in Los said, 'Even though the story has closure, I think it leaves behind a sense of longing. So maybe, if the timing is right, there's a chance for more stories someday.' Squid Game Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix. Have you watched it yet? Share your thoughts with us.
