Reason Peter Andre 'banned' wife Emily from his bedroom for a year

Daily Record08-07-2025
Emily MacDonagh has opened up about becoming a stepmum to Peter Andre's two children, Princess and Junior.
Peter Andre 's wife Emily MacDonagh has lifted the lid on the early days during their relationship. She revealed she was seemingly barred from his bedroom for over a year.
Before meeting Emily, Mysterious Girl singer Peter was previously married to Katie Price, who he shares children Princess and Junior with. However following their highly public split in May 2009, he moved on to find love again with Emily.

As their romance continued to blossom, Emily found herself quickly stepping into the role of stepmother to Pete's children. When asked if she immediately took on the stepmother duties, she explained: "Not straightaway as a stepmom, but that is a role you are instantly kind of... you're in. You've got two children in your lives straight away."

She elaborated on the gradual nature of her transition into the family reports the Mirror, saying, "It sort of built slowly, because I think I wouldn't expect to step into that role immediately. And I was young as well, you know, so I think we were always really cautious in the beginning about, you know, how much I was around. And we joke about this now with the kids, it's so funny, but we didn't share a bedroom for the first year that we were together."
Emily further commented on the situation, adding: "Because, when the kids were there... you know, because he wanted to be respectful. And I really - I actually really admired that at the time, that he always would put them first in everything. I thought that was really lovely."
She also expressed her gratitude for being warmly "accepted" by her stepchildren, Junior and Princess. "I always feel lucky that they've kind of accepted me into their family," she said.
"And I think then, when we had Millie and Theo - and Belle as well - it kind of cements you even more as a family. But I always feel like, you know, I'm not their mum, and that's something I always have to make sure I tread carefully with. I always see it, I think I would see it a bit more like being a big sister.
"Which, I don't know if that's the right way to look at it, but I think, you know, I always try and give them guidance, but I wouldn't overstep that. Like, I obviously try and support them like I would do with my own kids."

Emily and Pete are also raising their children Amelia, 11, and eight-year-old Theo. She is known for taking a "strict" approach to parenting her kids.
On Giovanna Fletcher's podcast, Happy mum Happy Baby, Emily shared insights into her parenting style: "I always try and be the same. I'm quite strict though, on my kids. That's what I would say to the older kids -it's lucky there's an age gap, you know? Because then you guys don't need to worry about, like, silly rules I have - screen time and stuff like that. I'm like, you guys can be exempt because you're older. The age gap is enough that my kids don't ask the question, 'Well, why are they allowed to have the screens?'".

Game of Thrones star joins 'promising' new historical BBC drama opposite James Norton

The BBC has unveiled a sneak peek at the forthcoming historical drama King and Conqueror, set to broadcast next month. The series, formerly known as 1066, will see the pair battle for the throne alongside their respective wives. ‌ The teaser features James Norton in the role of Harold, Earl of Wessex, while Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known for Game of Thrones, plays William, Duke of Normandy. ‌ The drama will depict the duo's struggle for the throne, alongside their respective wives, Edith Swan-neck (Emily Beecham) and Matilda (Clémence Poésy). ‌ The trailer also introduces allies and foes such as King Edward (Eddie Marsan), Lady Emma (Juliet Stevenson), Morcar (Elander Moore), Gytha (Clare Holman), Tostig (Luther Ford), Queen Gunhild (Bo Bragason) and Godwin (Geoff Bell). King and Conqueror tells the tale of a conflict that shaped the destiny of a nation – and a continent – for a millennium, with roots reaching back decades and extending through two intertwined family dynasties, vying for power across two countries and a turbulent sea, reports the Mirror. ‌ Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy were two men fated to clash at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; two allies with no initial ambition for the English throne, who found themselves compelled by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for its crown. The programme consists of eight hour-long episodes and will also feature Jean-Marc Barr as King Henry, Elliott Cowan as Sweyn, Bjarne Henriksen as Earl Siward, Oliver Masucci as Baldwin, Indy Lewis as Margaret, Jason Forbes as Thane Thomas, Ingvar Sigurdsson as Fitzosbern, Ines Asserson as Judith, Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson as Hardrada and Léo Legrand as Odo. ‌ Fresh promotional artwork for the drama presents a monochrome portrait of Harold with a resolute expression whilst William looms behind him, ready for combat. BBC audiences were swift to react to the programme's preview, with one commenting: "I hope they include the part where William had Harold buried on the beach, to guard the English shore.'I always found that quite touching, like a mark of his respect for such a great warrior." Another contributed: "The story of William the Conqueror; updated for a modern audience," whilst a third wrote: "Bout damn time they dropped this trailer. They been talking about this show for a year and a half." Someone else remarked: "Hopefully, this show will fulfill how I missed Vikings," as another contributed: "First i have heard of this but it seems really promising."

While appearing on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, the BBC One star expressed: 'I knew I wanted to be with her, I saw her with her nephews. She's so kind and so caring, I just couldn't understand the universe. 'And whoever is upstairs, if anyone's upstairs, looking down and going 'you are the most perfect person to have children, but I'm not going to let you have any children because I'm going to give you this'. "And I'm going to say 'you're going to have this endometriosis, and you're going to suffer with this all of your life, chronically, and I'm not going to let you have any children. "I thought that was peculiar, cruel, and inexplicable and unforgivable. And if ever I go up to somewhere and meet this person I would say 'I think you're not OK with decisions like this, this doesn't make any sense to me,' he lamented. The dancer went on to praise women for the things they have to go through with their bodies and health and shared his sadness about not being able to take Hannah's pain away. He continued: 'Then we went through the process of IVF, well crying out loud. You girls are extraordinary. As much as I want to get involved, all I can do is hold your hand. 'It makes me emotional every time I talk about it. The injections, the stress, the anxiety. I have anxiety and stress but it's not my body. "She has these injections and the bruises in the bum, in the thigh, in the stomach. And you're trying to help but what can you do? 'Whatever you want, tell me and I'll do it but that's all you have and it's horrendous as a man to watch it. Fuming Strictly viewers accuse 'mean' judge Anton DuBeke of being 'horrible' to celeb - did you spot it? 'You feel so inadequate and you want to do so much more but I can't do anything. And that's why you girls are so extraordinary, you're extraordinary that you do all this stuff." Anton and Hannah were fortunate enough to conceive after their first round of IVF and are now a happy family of four. This isn't the first time Anton has opened up about Hannah's endometriosis as he discussed her battle while appearing on Loose Women in 2020. He told the ladies: 'For a woman, it affects the quality of your life to a degree because it sort of comes in three parts. "First, there's the excruciating pain, second there's the swelling. It sometimes makes you look like you're pregnant, which is quite a perverse thing because people come up to you and say 'congratulations' and you're like 'actually, no'.'

Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has candidly spoken about his wife Hannah's endometriosis diagnosis and their difficult path to becoming parents Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has spoken frankly about his wife's devastating battle with endometriosis and how it affected their journey to parenthood. ‌ The cherished BBC personality married marketing executive Hannah Summers in 2017, having first met at Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey in 2012. The pair were delighted to welcome twins George and Henrietta following their wedding, after successful IVF treatment. ‌ Yet, during a heartfelt conversation on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy mum Happy Baby podcast, Anton revealed that Hannah had grave worries about their chances of starting a family due to her crippling endometriosis condition. ‌ The NHS describes endometriosis as "where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb (uterus) grow in other parts of the body. It can have a big impact on your life, but there are treatments that can help". The distinguished dancer admitted his confusion at life's harshness, as he observed Hannah tenderly engaging with her nephews, questioning the fairness of their fertility struggles, reports the Mirror. He said: "I knew I wanted to be with her, I saw her with her nephews. She's so kind and so caring, I just couldn't understand the universe." ‌ Anton bemoaned the apparent unfairness from above, stating: "And whoever is upstairs, if anyone's upstairs, looking down and going 'you are the most perfect person to have children, but I'm not going to let you have any children because I'm going to give you this'.
