A.P. Cabinet nod for Quantum Computing Centre in Amaravati, Bulk Drug Park expansion at Nakkapalli
Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy stated that the government anticipated an investment of ₹4,000 crore through the proposed Quantum Computing Centre in the capital.
He announced the Cabinet's approval for acquiring an additional 790 acres of land for the Bulk Drug Park proposed at Nakkapalli.
The Cabinet also approved the Andhra Pradesh Space Policy 2025–30, aiming to make the State a hub for space-based industries and research.
Other important decisions include approval for loan guarantees from HUDCO and facilitating a fund of ₹10,000 crore to improve drinking water supply infrastructure.
The Cabinet gave its nod to construct facilities for the World Economic Forum in Amaravati, aligning with the government's global investment outreach. The son of freedom fighter Thota Chandrayya would be offered a government job, recognising the services redered by the family to the nation, he said.
Green tax reduced
The Cabinet took a corrective step on environmental taxes, reversing the steep increases imposed by the previous government. 'The YSRCP government had increased the green tax. We have reduced it by up to ₹3,000 now,' he said, adding that these decisions mark the State's strategic push towards infrastructure, industry, and technological advancement
The Minister said that the Cabinet approved the proposal to provide a shortfall guarantee to Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited, and permit it to secure a loan of ₹1,000 crore from the HUDCO.
This loan is intended to meet the expenditure for the development of airports at Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Srikakulam and Amaravati, providing Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support for the Kuppam airport, and clearing urgent pending liabilities of the APADCL, he added.

Despite being one of AI's strongest backers, Gates has been consistent in highlighting its limitations. Andhra Cabinet allocates Rs 524 crore for Amaravati residential complex construction
VIJAYAWADA: The State Cabinet meeting, held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the State Secretariat on Wednesday, decided to expedite the construction of the residential complex being built for MLAs, MLCs, and All India Services officers at Nelapadu in Amaravati. The Cabinet approved an allocation of Rs 524.70 crore for completing the remaining works of this multi-storied complex, comprising 432 residences across 18 buildings (each with S+12 floors). These works will be undertaken on a lump-sum contract basis, with a two-year Defect Liability Period (DLP). The Cabinet also ratified the action taken by the APCRDA Commissioner in inviting tenders for these works. The Cabinet also approved a proposal to review land allocations to various institutions in the CRDA region. The Cabinet gave its nod for the formation of a government company, namely the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre (AQCC). This marks a key milestone in realizing the vision proposed at the Amaravati Quantum Valley Workshop held on June 30, 2025. A declaration was made at the conference-attended by representatives from domestic and international quantum technology giants, scientists, and intellectuals-to transform AP into a Quantum Valley hub. The government has already announced an action plan for the proposed Quantum Valley during the same conference. AQCC will soon invite global firms to install quantum hardware and operate it in collaboration with universities, startups, and research institutions. This initiative is expected to create numerous employment opportunities for the youth.

Govt will act tough to curb subsidised PDS rice smuggling: Andhra Minister Nadendla
VIJAYAWADA: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar on Wednesday reaffirmed that the State government supports legal rice exports but will crack down on smuggling of subsidised Public Distribution System (PDS) rice. Chairing a high-level review meeting with Joint Collectors of Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, and Nellore, and Civil Supplies and Vigilance officials at the State Secretariat, the minister stressed strict enforcement around port areas. He directed that round-the-clock check posts be set up at Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, and Krishnapatnam ports, with additional posts as needed. 'Exporters are welcome to operate legally, but smuggling PDS rice under the guise of exports will be dealt with severely,' he warned. Manohar urged officials to enhance surveillance on highways and potential smuggling routes. While PDS rice control at Kakinada port has improved, the minister called for tighter monitoring at Visakhapatnam and Nellore ports. He instructed that smuggling cases be registered under the Essential Commodities Act, the PD Act, and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Data presented showed 85 smuggling cases in Kakinada, 92 in Visakhapatnam, and 62 in Nellore. Vigilance officers were told to intensify inspections and block diversion of rice meant for the poor.
