Panchayat actor Sanvikaa reveals she has to ‘fight for basic things', admits nepotism exists in the industry: ‘Want to be treated in an equal way…'
Actor Sanvikaa, known for playing the role of Rinki in Panchayat, is currently basking in the success of the fourth season of the Amazon Prime Video show. Earlier this month, the actor shared a cryptic note on her Instagram Story on not receiving respect in the industry. In an interview with SCREEN, Sanvikaa opened up about the insider-outsider debate and shared her expectations for her role in Panchayat Season 5. When asked about her cryptic note, Sanvikaa said, 'Honestly, I don't have a problem with anyone because it was said in a certain particular context. I still stand by it, but I don't want to talk much about it. But, it does get easier if you come from a certain backdrop. Everyone has their own fight, whether it's someone who is starting at a basic level or someone who wants to come to Bombay from their own hometown, there will be another fight. When you audition, it's another fight and when you start getting something, there's another fight. In each stage of your life as an actor, there will be different kinds of battles.' She added, 'The context where it came from was that at least you don't have to fight for basic things like respect and being treated in a little equal way, which others are given by default. If I compare myself with the other person, they are given respect naturally. I have to keep proving and fight for it, then I am given that thing.' Her viral post read, 'Sometimes I wish I was an insider or maybe from a very powerful background, things would have been so much easier (maybe, I don't know) As basic as getting respect and being treated as an equal. The battles would have been lesser. Hanging on.' ALSO READ | Panchayat's greatest triumph is showing us how patriarchy and gentle masculinity can co-exist Sanvikaa also revealed that while she has been selective with her projects, opportunities have increased significantly since starring in Panchayat. 'After the show, there have been a lot of opportunities. I am getting lead roles, but I am waiting for a good opportunity. I don't want to disappoint my fans. I am taking my sweet time. There's an expectation that they have after doing such a good role. Panchayat has given me everything. Wherever I go, people are recognising me only because of this show. It has given me a new life, new identity,' she shared. The actor continued, 'After season three, things have changed for me. People want to explore me in different characters and they are looking at me from a different lens. They see the potential in me. There are better character graphs now. I audition for all of them, the flow of auditions has changed.' Sanvikaa was also asked about the highly anticipated release of Panchayat Season 5. She replied, 'It's coming. Even I don't know anything about my character. I hope they discover more about who Rinki is, what she wants to do in life. I wish the character is written in such a way that we see more of her in the next season.'

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Aamir Khan film shows massive 92% jump on second Saturday, crosses ₹100 crore
Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Despite facing competition from new releases like Kajol's Maa and Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par witnessed a significant jump in its day 9 box office collection and has now crossed the ₹ 100 crore mark, according to Sacnilk. Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par crosses ₹ 100 crore mark at the domestic box office. The trade tracking site reported that Aamir's film saw a jump of 92% on its second Saturday, collecting ₹ 12.75 crore at the box office, up from ₹ 6.65 crore on Friday. The total collection of the film now stands at ₹ 108 crore. This week saw two new releases — Kajol's Maa, which earned ₹ 6.2 crore on day 2, and Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, which collected ₹ 7 crore, both less than what Sitaare Zameen Par managed. Sitaare Zameen Par has grossed approximately ₹ 165 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk, making it the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year. It is expected to cross Salman Khan's Sikandar ( ₹ 185 crore gross) in the next couple of days to become the fourth biggest grosser of the year among Hindi films. About Sitaare Zameen Par Helmed by RS Prasanna, the film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film stars Aamir as a basketball coach who trains a team of specially-abled children as punishment for a drink-and-drive case. Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film also stars Genelia D'Souza in the lead role alongside 10 debutants, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar — all of whom are specially-abled. An excerpt from Hindustan Times' review of Sitaare Zameen Par reads, "The first half is slow and tests your patience. Aamir being angry with his new role, getting to know his special team, then struggling in his marriage with Sunita (Genelia Deshmukh) — there's a lot that eats up screen time and feels like lazy writing. There's the occasional laugh, pretty much what one saw in the trailer. The intermission point too isn't on a high. You settle into your seats after this, ready for a yawn-fest. But this is exactly when Sitaare Zameen Par miraculously finds its groove."
