Built in Mumbai, INS Nilgiri now makes the city of destiny her home port. This state of the art warship is driven by her motto 'Adrish Yabalam, Ajeya Shauryam'.
The ship was welcomed to Visakhapatnam in a traditional manner.
The silhouettes of INS Nilgiri, and other ships of her class that would soon follow, are going to be a common sight on the eastern seaboard, enhancing the might of the Indian Navy.

ENC commemorates Kargil Diwas at Victory at Sea
Visakhapatnam: Aspart of the Kargil Vijay Diwas 2025, Eastern Naval Command commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas 2025 at the 'Victory at Sea' War Memorial in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. Director General Naval Project Vice Admiral B Sivakumar, District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad, City Commissioner of Police Shakhabrata Bagchi, veterans laid wreaths in honour of Operation Vijay heroes. In addition, Naval Station Bheemunipatnam commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas by organising a blood donation camp in collaboration with NTR Trust. The event saw over 100 personnel contributing to the cause.

1 2 3 4 Visakhapatnam: On the solemn occasion of 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas (July 26), which marks the success of Indian armed forces in ousting Pakistan intruders from the mountains in Kargil, Eastern Naval Command (ENC) of the Indian Navy conducted a Wreath Laying ceremony on Saturday at Victory at Sea War Memorial, RK Beach, in Visakhapatnam. Vice Admiral B Sivakumar, director general Naval Project Vizag, senior dignitaries from sister services and civil administration and veterans laid wreaths in honour of Operation Vijay heroes. Wreaths were also placed by Vizag district collector M N Harendhira Prasad, Vizag city police chief Dr Shanka Brata Bagchi and a few other officers. In addition, Naval Station Bheemunipatnam commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas with a blood donation camp at the station on Saturday in partnership with NTR Trust, Visakhapatnam. The event saw blood donation by more than 100 personnel from the Station. Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated on July 26 every year as a saga of gallantry and valour of a battle fought in the most inhospitable terrain in the World in the area of Kargil-Drass Sector of Ladakh. On this day the Indian Armed Force braving most difficult terrain, battling extreme weather conditions fought valiantly on the steep slopes of icy peaks with grit and valour thus defeating the evil designs of the enemy and throwing the intruders out from Indian Soil. The day commemorates our victory in Operation Vijay, which was a significant military victory over Pakistan during the Kargil War . Indian Navy commissions indigenous Diving Support Vessel to boost underwater operations
NEW DELHI: The Indian Navy on Friday commissioned first of its kind ship, an indigenously built Diving Support Vessel (DSV) which will be reinforcing its strategic maritime posture across the Indian Ocean Region at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam in the presence of the MoS (Def) Sanjay Seth. DSV has been indigenously designed and constructed by Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam. On commissioning, the ship will join the Eastern Naval Command to support deep sea diving and submarine rescue operations. Main roles of the vessel include undertaking deep sea diving and conducting rescue operations from distressed submarines. The commissioning of Nistar and its induction into the Indian Navy's Eastern Naval Command will not only enhance India's operational preparedness in the underwater domain, but will also reinforce its strategic maritime posture across the Indian Ocean Region. The approx Rs 2,400 cr project of two Diving Support Vessels (Nistar & Nipun) were launched in September 2022. TNIE earlier reported the exhaustive list of Capital Ship and Submarine projects of the Indian Navy, which included these two DSVs. It included 61 warships which are under various stages of construction. Various projects for construction of 17 warships and nine Submarines are under the advanced stages of approvals.
