Victor Wembanyama Cleared to Play After Season-Ending Blood Clots
"I'm officially cleared to return. … I'll finally be able to play a bit of basketball again," Wembanyama told the French sports daily.
There was no immediate comment from the Spurs on the report. It has been expected that the team anticipated Wembanyama would be able to start this coming season, though there was no official word until now.
Wembanyama was the league's rookie of the year two years ago, and Spurs guard Stephon Castle won that same trophy this past season. Wembanyama was the front-runner to be defensive player of the year last season when he was diagnosed with the blood clot in his right shoulder in February.
He was averaging 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, 3.8 blocks and 3.7 assists when he was shut down; the only other player in NBA history to finish a season averaging all that was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975-76.
Wembanyama has traveled extensively in recent months and spent time last month at a Shaolin temple in Zhengzhou, China. The temple is a place that welcomes visitors who wish to study Chan meditation, Shaolin Kung Fu, traditional Chinese medicine and more.

Claim: FIFA Club World Cup winners Chelsea F.C. edited U.S. President Donald Trump out of their victory photo on their official social media pages. Rating: Context: Chelsea Football Club shared an authentic, untouched photograph on their website and social media profiles. However, they chose photographs from when Trump moved to the background and was no longer standing next to the trophy. On July 13, 2025, English soccer team Chelsea Football Club won the FIFA Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Ahead of the jubilant team celebrations, FIFA President Gianni Infantino and U.S. President Donald Trump handed over the cup to club captain Reece James. However, instead of stepping aside for the customary trophy lift, Trump stayed onstage during the team's victory photos. Numerous pictures and video footage showed him standing among the team as they reveled in their victory. After the match, social media users claimed that Chelsea deliberately edited Trump out of their official trophy lift photo. Examples of the rumor appeared on X (archived), Facebook and Instagram (archived), where people posted two identical pictures, one featuring the U.S. president and the other not. One X user wrote: "Trump refused to leave even after they were practically pushing him away so Chelsea photoshopped him out of their official trophy raising photo. Good move." (Facebook user "Occupy Democrats") While Chelsea's official social media accounts did indeed share photos without Trump in the foreground, they did not deliberately edit him out of the images. Instead, they chose to publish photographs of the team celebrating after Trump moved to the back of the stage. As such, we have rated this claim as false. Footage of the victory ceremony shows Trump standing with the players for the initial photographs before he was ushered to the back at the 28-second mark. According to Getty Images photographs of the event, Trump was indeed visible in the foreground at first before he moved to the back. Michigan State lands long-snapper transfer nicknamed 'Vending Machine'
Michigan State football is getting another transfer. Aiden DeCorte, a long snapper from nearby Jackson, announced on social media he would be transferring from Colorado to Michigan State. Decorte comes in at 6 feet 1, 300 pounds, and goes by the nickname "Vending Machine" on his X account. Advertisement DeCorte spent his freshman season in 2023 at Central Michigan before transferring to Colorado as a redshirt freshman for the 2024 season. He did not see game action in either season. DeCorte played at Jackson High School, where he helped the football program to its third-ever playoff victory. According to DeCorte's biography on the CMU athletics website, the lineman was recruited by Michigan State out of high school before he decided to attend CMU. Paul George gets knee surgery after offseason injury to add 76ers question mark
Paul George had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday after suffering an injury during a recent workout, according to ESPN. The 76ers star will begin rehab and be re-evaluated before training camp, the team announced. George, 35, is coming off a disappointing first season in Philadelphia after signing a four-year, $212 million deal with the franchise in free agency last summer.
