Jaipur: Professors under the banner of Rajasthan University Teachers Association (RUTA) staged a protest outside the vice-chancellor's secretariat Monday, demanding promotions, which have been stalled for over a decade for some teachers.
RUTA vice-president Naveen Sharma, said, under the Career Advancement Scheme, over 400 teachers in the university are awaiting promotions. The teachers demanded that the appointment process for the posts of Acharya, associate pofessor, and assistant professor should be started through direct recruitment in the university, along with the promotions of existing teachers.
"A circular was issued by the university on Nov 20, 2024, stating that applications for promotion would be invited from Dec 16, 2024, but even after seven months, the teacher promotion process has not started," said Sharma. TNN

During those meetings, Jaishankar emphasised 'mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity'. Over the past nine months, there have been signs that India-China ties are thawing. After the troop disengagement at friction points in Eastern Ladakh last Oct, Beijing agreed to resume the Kailash Mansarovar yatra this year. But have India-China relations truly turned a corner? The answers are complex. Himalayan gulf: China appears to be keen to go back to the old paradigm of bilateral ties which Beijing characterises as not allowing differences to become disputes. In other words, the border issue — the main bone of contention in India-China relations — should be compartmentalised while other aspects of bilateral ties — trade , business etc — are allowed to flourish. Over the years, every time the Indian side has raised the border issue, the Chinese side has asked for greater 'understanding'. But it's unclear what this understanding entails.
