Police identify suspect in upside-down flag incident at Port Dickson school
District Police Chief Superintendent Maslan Udin stated that the individual will be called in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. The flag was promptly removed on the same day.
'The investigation is still in progress and will be referred to the public prosecutor for further action,' Maslan said in a statement today.
A police report was lodged by a 32-year-old man yesterday.
The case is being investigated under several laws, including Section 504 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, Section 5 of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1963, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Maslan urged the public to refrain from further circulating the issue to prevent disruption of harmony and public order.

Indonesian Woman Jailed for Prostitution in Sandakan
KOTA KINABALU: A 50-year-old Indonesian woman was sentenced to three years in prison by the Sandakan Sessions Court on Tuesday for acting as a prostitution agent. Lely Fiter pleaded guilty before Judge Zaini Fisher @ Fisal to charges under Section 372 of the Penal Code, which criminalizes exploiting others for prostitution. Her sentence began on the date of her arrest, and she will be deported after serving her term. Police raided Lely's rented apartment at Taman Mawar Apartment at 3:30 p.m. on July 29 following a tip-off. An officer, posing as a customer, paid RM150 for sexual services with a 26-year-old local woman. Officers intervened before any act occurred, arresting both women and seizing RM150 in cash (the payment), condoms, tissues, and a mobile phone as evidence. The local woman, Zuraini Mohd Zaini, who admitted to offering sexual services, was fined RM1,800 or, in default, three months' jail under Section 372B of the Penal Code by Magistrate Nur Faezah Jafry. She confessed to engaging in prostitution due to financial difficulties, stating that she received RM100 per transaction while Lely kept RM50 as commission. Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Azizi Hamil prosecuted Lely's case, while ASP Zamri Zakaria prosecuted the local woman's case.

Over 400 tonnes of used batteries seized from unlicensed waste facility in Kedah
ALOR SETAR: The Kedah Environment Department has taken action against a factory in the Bukit Selambau Industrial Area, Sungai Petani, suspected of conducting unlicensed off-site scheduled waste storage and recovery activities. Its director Sharifah Zakian Syed Sahab said the action was taken during the "Ops Gempur" operation from 9am to 1pm on Tuesday (Aug 5), which revealed the facility was operating without Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval or a valid licence. "During the inspection, we found approximately 100 tonnes of used lithium batteries and around 317 tonnes of crushed used batteries, both classified as scheduled waste," she said in a statement on Tuesday. Additionally, about 20 tonnes of recovered metal powder were discovered on site. She said the department seized the factory's production equipment under Section 38(1)(a) of the Environmental Quality Act 1974, as they were being operated without pollution control systems or department approval. Investigations are ongoing under Sections 18(1), 34A(6) and 34B(1) of the same Act. Sharifah Zakian said they would continue to strengthen monitoring and enforcement efforts, particularly targeting illegal waste processing activities that cause environmental pollution and pose public health risks.
