The complainant was escorted to the site by SIT officials, including International Security Division SP Jitendra Kumar Dayama, the investigating officer, along with Puttur Assistant Commissioner Stella Varghese and Belthangady Tahsildar Pruthvi Sanikam. Experts from the Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL) and Scene-of-Crime Officers (SOCO) were also present to ensure procedural and scientific integrity, the report added.
The entire exhumation process is being videographed by SIT personnel as part of the official documentation.
Earlier in the day, a briefing session was held at the SIT office in Belthangady, led by DIG M N Anucheth, before the team moved to the site.
'We will check the veracity of his claims based on the outcome at the first spot itself. If not, we will keep on digging as we have 13 spots identified,' said an SIT officer, speaking on condition of anonymity according to TNIE report.
The investigation has garnered significant public attention following the complainant's claim of 13 burial or cremation sites, all located around Dharmasthala. The SIT had officially begun groundwork on July 28, acting on the detailed statement provided by the witness.
The coming days are expected to be crucial as officials attempt to validate the claims through forensic evidence gathered at these locations.

Two more held for sending obscene messages to actress Ramya
BENGALURU: Two more persons were arrested on Sunday for allegedly sending vulgar messages to actor and former MP Ramya on Instagram. So far, a total of four accused have been arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) officers in connection with the case. The police said the two arrested individuals have been identified as Rajesh and Bhuvan Gowda. In addition, 11 more individuals have been identified in connection with the online abuse. Efforts are underway to track down the remaining accused, the police added. A CCB officer said, 'We are verifying whether they are fans of a particular actor, but we are taking the case seriously as it involves online abuse.' Ramya filed a complaint with the city police commissioner on July 28 against 43 social media accounts after receiving misogynistic, obscene, and threatening comments, allegedly from fans and fan groups of actor Darshan. This followed her expression of support for the Supreme Court's observations in the Renukaswamy murder case, in which Darshan is the prime accused. She had demanded justice for the victim's family.

Parents allege 4-year-old daughter sexually assaulted in Thane school; probe on
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Thane, Aug 5 (PTI) Parents of a four-year-old girl studying in a reputed school in Maharashtra's Thane city have alleged that an unidentified person sexually assaulted her, prompting police to launch an investigation, officials said. In their complaint to police, the parents have alleged a person in blue clothes sexually assaulted their daughter in the school premises on July 30 between 11.15 am and 3 pm, the officials said on Monday. Taking serious note of the matter, the police examined the CCTV footage of the school as part of their probe. 'We are investigating the matter under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. Although the initial CCTV investigation did not reveal any suspicious movement, we are expanding the probe so that no link is left unturned," a senior police official said. The school administration was cooperating with the police in the case, he informed. Statements of the school staff were being recorded and information was also being sought from other witnesses in the area, according to police. In August last year, two minor girls were sexually assaulted inside the toilet of a school at Badlapur in Thane district by a male attendant, sparking widespread protests and outrage. The accused, Akshay Shinde, was later killed in an alleged retaliatory police shootout while being escorted in a police vehicle. Venkatesh Naidu in spotlight as cash bundle videos go viral
Tirupati: Cherukuru Venkatesh Naidu, already known to the public as a key figure in the ongoing liquor scam probe, is once again in the spotlight after fresh videos and photographs surfaced on Sunday, revealing details of his luxurious lifestyle. Venkatesh, named as Accused No 34 (A-34) in the case, was earlier seen in a now-viral video counting currency bundles reportedly worth Rs 35 crore, suspected to be part of the liquor scam proceeds. The cash was seen stacked in large bundles, including Rs 2,000 denomination notes, and was discovered during the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry. In the latest development, visuals have emerged showing Venkatesh Naidu travelling in a private jet, mingling with film actors, and moving around in high-end cars. One video shows him arriving at an airport in a luxury vehicle and walking straight onto the runway to board a private aircraft. Upon landing, he was seen getting into a car fitted with a red beacon, which is typically reserved for VIP protocol, hinting at the level of influence and access he enjoyed. The videos have since gone viral on social media, with the public reacting sharply, asking, 'Is this how they enjoyed the liquor money looted from the people?' Earlier, SIT had uncovered a video during the investigation showing Naidu managing a cash stash at a safe house, allegedly acting as the in-charge of the location where the scam money was stored. In the video, he was seen counting the bundles and preparing them for distribution. The latest leak of his videos and photos further illustrates the extravagant lifestyle funded through alleged illegal proceeds. Surprisingly, it was learnt that the video was found in Venkatesh's mobile phone itself. SIT sources confirmed that Venkatesh Naidu is a close aide of YSRCP senior leader and former Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy. The two are believed to share an inseparable political association. During the 2024 general elections, Chevireddy contested from the Ongole Lok Sabha constituency as YSRCP candidate, and Venkatesh Naidu filed a nomination as an independent from the same seat. Though his nomination was later rejected it was widely felt that he filed it as a dummy for Chevireddy. SIT has noted that Chevireddy remained in constant contact with Naidu throughout the process and was actively involved in directing the movement and delivery of scam-related funds. Investigators have concluded that Naidu played a crucial role in ensuring that the money was transported and handed over as per Chevireddy's instructions. Venkatesh was said to have born in Nandyal and educated in Hyderabad, while his background has drawn renewed attention. Despite his apparent access to vast sums of money, Naidu in his 2024 election affidavit declared an annual income of only Rs 4.95 lakh for the financial year 2022–23. He reported assets worth Rs 10.70 lakh, including bank balances and cash, and claimed he owned no immovable property. The sharp contrast between his declared financial status and the opulence seen in the videos has sparked widespread outrage online. The revelations have intensified public scrutiny of the liquor scam and its political connections, as well as raised further questions about how such levels of luxury and access were possible for someone with officially modest means. The SIT continues to examine the deeper network behind the scandal.
