Benjamin Sesko transfer confusion as conflicting reports emerge

Yahoo6 hours ago
Manchester United's pursuit of Benjamin Sesko heats up with conflicting reports over the type of deal they will pursue over the Slovenian striker.
United enter the race
Earlier in the week it was reported that United had narrowed their striker search down to two names, Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko.
Nonetheless, it was reported just three days ago that United had chosen to pursue a deal for Red Bull Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.
As a result, United are now set to make a formal bid as they will try and thrash out a deal with the Bundesliga club.
According to numerous reports, whilst no final decision has been made, the Red Devils are confident that Sesko would choose them in a straight choice between themselves and transfer rivals Newcastle United.
Swap deal
The Red Devils have been quoted a price of €75 million plus add-ons as well as a sell-on percentage for any deal for Sesko according to the reliable David Ornstein.
This may be a tough ask for United but they may have a trump card in negotiations.
There have been reports that Leipzig are keen on Rasmus Hojlund as a replacement and may be inclined to agree to a swap deal.
Caught Offside (via Red Bull Leipzig news) reports that 'RB Leipzig is looking for a central attacker should Benjamin Sesko leave the club in the summer. One of the candidates is Rasmus Hojlund.'
Die Roten Bullen have held an interest in the Dane sinch March and they face competition from three other German clubs, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen.
Conflicting reports
Nonetheless, German publication Bild take a different stance, arguing that United will not be able to offer Hojlund or any other player in a deal for Sesko.
They report that 'Man United first wants to make room in the squad for Sesko, so a transfer could take some time. A swap deal isn't possible because RB Leipzig isn't interested in the players that the club is offering—as previously reported.'

Lookman Ready For ‘Total War' With Atalanta To Force Through Transfer To Inter Milan

Ademola Lookman is reportedly ready for 'total war' with Atalanta to force through a move to Inter Milan this summer. This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews. They report that the 27-year-old's social media antics may just be the start of his efforts to put pressure on La Dea. Ademola Lookman has not exactly hidden how he feels about Atalanta rejecting a €45 million for him from Inter. The Nigerian international, who has already agreed personal terms with the Nerazzurri, responded on social media. Lookman deleted all traces of Atalanta from his Instagram account. This included blacking out his profile picture, and removing photos where he is in an Atalanta shirt. (Photo by Pier) Clearly, Lookman is upset with Atalanta for sandbagging Inter's offers to sign him. Therefore, the former RB Leipzig forward is aiming to force his club's hand by kicking up a fuss with moves like scrubbing his current employers from his social media account. However, reports SportItalia, this may just be the beginning. So far, Lookman hasn't directly taken any public shots at Atalanta – even if his social media move was not exactly subtle. But in the next week or two, things could come to a head even further. Atalanta already know that they have a highly awkward situation on their hands. And one that threatens to destabilize their dressing room. According to SportItalia, Lookman will dig in his heels even more. He is ready for 'total war' until Atalanta sell him to Inter.

Stockport sign Andrew on short-term contract

Stockport County have signed experienced left-back Danny Andrew on a one-month contract. The 34-year-old was released by Cambridge United at the end of his contract earlier this summer and has joined Dave Challinor's squad after impressing the manager as a triallist in a pre-season friendly with Salford City. Andrew has played 570 games in a 17-year career, his longest stay being four seasons at Fleetwood Town from 2019 to 2023 - his second spell at Highbury. Stockport are short of left-back cover after Ibou Touray joined Bradford and Ryan Rydel departed for Exeter on loan, while the only incoming replacement so far has been Tayo Edun, who is facing a "prolonged spell" out with injury. Challinor told the club website: "He comes at an important time, and we feel his experience, leadership and adaptability of playing in different positions at this level will be really important over this period. "The short-term nature of the deal suits everyone at present and we'll assess things over the period." Transfers - August 2025

Revealed – When Inter Milan Will Start Contract Extension Talks With Davide Frattesi

Inter Milan will start contract extension talks with midfielder Davide Frattesi in September. This according to today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the 25-year-old's wages could rise to €3.4 million net per season. For months, it had seemed all but inevitable that Davide Frattesi would leave the club this summer. And had Simone Inzaghi stayed on as coach, that would have been the case. There was a rift between he and Frattesi. However, Inzaghi decided to leave Inter in search of big money at Al-Hilal. Cristian Chivu arrived to replace him on the Inter bench. Inter To Start Contract Talks With Davide Frattesi In September MILAN, ITALY – FEBRUARY 25: Hakan Calhanoglu of FC Internazionale celebrates scoring his team's second goal with teammate Davide Frattesi during the Coppa Italia Quarter Final match between FC Internazionale and SS Lazio at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on February 25, 2025 in Milan, Italy. (Photo by) Now that Chivu is in charge, plans have changed completely for Davide Frattesi. This about face has a lot to do with the role that the Romanian coach sees for the 25-year-old. Frattesi never quite fit in to the midfield trio in Inzaghi's 3-5-2 system. The previous coach demanded that his midfielders be capable of just about everything on the pitch. On the other hand, Chivu is ready to shift to using attacking midfielders. He'll aim to implement a 3-4-2-1 system with two central players behind one strikers. And in that formation, Frattesi can shine more. Therefore, Inter are actually now ready to offer a new contract to Frattesi. His current deal runs out at the end of June 2028. Frattesi currently earns €2.8 million net per season. Tuttosport report that the Nerazzurri will offer increased wages of €3.4 million net per season. Meanwhile, Inter are not going to begin the talks right away this summer, Tuttosport anticipate. Rather, the Nerazzurri will wait until the season starts and the transfer window closes to begin talks with Frattesi's representatives.
