Hotter than ever at 70! How A-listers in their golden years are defying the laws of ageing - as an expert reveals the secrets behind their youthful glows

Daily Mail14-06-2025
Getting older is one of life's inevitabilities - but for A-listers with endless resources at their disposal, it's an inevitability that can be held off for a little while.
Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner, 69, has recently left fans speechless after debuting her new face and exceptionally youthful appearance - and she's not the only Hollywood star who appears to have rolled back the years.
Meanwhile Oprah Winfrey, 71, Cher, 79, and Bo Derek, 68, frequently wow in red carpet appearances as they appear decades younger.
Compared with stars of generations past, these A-listers appear significantly more youthful as they enter their golden years - and experts have revealed how they're looking better than ever in their seventies.
Speaking to MailOnline, Dr Sabina Hanoman-Singh, a GP specialising in longevity and regenerative aesthetics, revealed how some of Hollywood's biggest names appear to defy the ageing process.
'We've all seen the photos - Kris Jenner, Cher, Bo Derek, Oprah, Goldie Hawn, and Donatella Versace looking decades younger than their birth certificates would suggest,' she said.
Though fans might assume their age-defying looks are the product of fillers, Botox and other surgical enhancements, the reality isn't so straight-forward, Dr Sabina explained.
Instead, she suggested it was more likely the combined effects of an entire host of techniques, such as preventative skincare regimes and biohacking.
'Is it just good genes and good lighting? Not quite. What we're seeing is a seismic shift in the way ageing is approached—especially among high-profile celebrities,' she explained.
'The biggest myth is that aesthetics is just about injectables and skincare. In reality, today's anti-ageing approach is holistic, inside-out, and science-backed.
'Celebrities are at the forefront of this shift,' she said, explaining that early access to the latest medical technology and utilising combinational therapies, were at the heart of youth enhancing methods.
Celebrities aren't just working with doctors who specialise in skin and injectables—they're now tapping into expert knowledge about how 'hormones, diet, sleep, stress, and even glucose spikes influence the ageing process'.
HORMONE OPTIMISATION
Oprah Winfrey has famously defied the laws of ageing over the course of the last four decades since she burst onto screens when The Oprah Winfrey Show debuted in 1986.
One of the reasons for her ageless face which appears unchanged by the passage of time is the use of hormone therapy, Dr Sabina suggested.
'Hormone optimisation (including HRT in menopause) isn't just about balancing mood - it can also slow ageing including collagen loss in the skin.
'Oprah Winfrey has spoken about her use of bioidentical hormone therapy and how it put a 'skip in her step'.
The chat show host has previously opened up about how impacted she was by the symptoms of menopause, citing brain fog, fatigue, and mood swings.
At the age of just 48, she began experiencing heart palpitations during the night, one of her first symptoms in what would become a long list of unpleasant side-effects.
Desperate to improve her symptoms, Oprah started using hormone replacement therapy
'I wasn't vibrant. My whole world dulled down a couple of notches,' she said in her The Life You Want class on OprahDaily.com in 2023.
'I got my first click of estrogen, and I was like, 'The sky is bluer!' I would have been headed for depression if I had not been on estrogen,' she said.
SURGICAL PROCEDURES
While hormone therapies can be effective in helping to slow the ageing process, some stars have admitted to having a little nip and tuck over the years too.
Kris Jenner, the world's most famous momager, previously admitted to having gone under the knife for a small handful of procedures, but sparked speculation of a fresh facelift when pictures emerged of her looking particularly youthful earlier this year.
After hairstylist to the stars Chris Stapleton shared photos of Kris on his social media channels in April, fans went wild for her new look - with some even saying she looked identical to her daughter Kim, who is 25 years younger.
Kris has always been open about undergoing tweakments, but has not officially confirmed the secret to her new face.
Nonetheless, Kardashian fans and internet sleuths think they have cracked it - a procedure by the so-called 'facelift maestro', plastic surgeon Dr Steven M Levine.
Plastic surgeons have suspected that the momager's new look was likely the result of a 'surgical facelift or mini-lift' as well as a combination of other aesthetic treatments including Botox and fillers.
A doctor who specialises aesthetic procedures recently estimated Kris has already forked out upwards of $400,000 on modifying her appearance over the years.
Kris underwent her first - and so far only confirmed - facelift in 2011, when she documented her experience as part of the family's long-running reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
She was 55 years old at the time, and going under the knife a month prior her daughter Kim's wedding to NBA star Kris Humprhies.
Since then, her age-defying looks have continued to spark speculation as fans suggest she has undergone further enhancements.
Plastic surgeons have proffered theories that Kris - mother and manager to daughters, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall, and Kylie - has gone under the knife for a number of other surgeries, including cheek implants, a rhinoplasty and microblading.
'Surgical procedures have come a long way,' Dr Sabina said, explaining that this was likely the reason many have struggled to decipher exactly what Kris has had done.
'Modern facelifts are less invasive, involve smaller incisions, quicker recovery, and far more natural-looking results,' Dr Sabina said.
'The aesthetic is no longer about looking 'done'—it's about looking refreshed, radiant, and well. Kris Jenner, while she's never confirmed details, is likely to have had a lower face and neck lift, judging by her refreshed jawline.'
She's not the only A-lister to have used enhancements to uphold a young face.
Donatella Versace - who famously said she 'doesn't believe in a totally natural woman' - previously admitted to using Botox maintain her youthful appearance in the high-pressure role when she took over the role of Versace's Chief Creative Officer, following her brother Gianni's murder in 1997.
The 70-year-old has become instantly recognisable by her gleaming forehead and plump lips, having first used fillers in her 30s.
Over the years, fans have suspected a number of other treatments, including a fox eye lift, cheek implants, neck lifts and eyelid surgery.
Dr Sabina suggested that Donatella's more recent looks, which are notably less over-emphasised compared to former enhancements, could be the result of 'skin tightening technologies'.
She said: 'Donatella Versace, though known for dramatic changes in the past, may now be opting for skin-tightening technologies over fillers, given the recent trend against overfilled faces.
'Botox is still a staple in the celebrity toolkit, but many - particularly actors - are cautious to preserve their facial expressions. Alternatives like lasers and regenerative wrinkle treatments are increasingly being used to keep lines at bay without the 'frozen' look.'
DIET AND EXERCISE
A face to be reckoned with, Cher is arguably the beholder of one of the most age-defying looks of all time.
The pop sensation has continued to defy the laws of ageing since she surged onto the music scene as one half of Sonny & Cher in the 60s.
At 78, after six decades in the spotlight, the songstress known as the 'Goddess of Pop' has scarcely worn a wrinkle or a single grey hair. Impressively, the songstress has also maintained the svelte figure which first wowed audiences several decades ago.
Cher, who was born Cheryl Sarkisian, has previously admitted to undergoing a nose job and a facelift, but several experts proffered that this is only part of the story.
She has previously been open about some of the work she has had done. 'I've been upfront about saying that I had my nose done, my breasts done and had braces on my teeth. The rest is nonsense,' she said in 1988, speaking out against rumours she had undergone a rib removal surgery to slim her waist.
Experts previously told MailOnline that the Believe singer may have undergone a host of other treatments including dental work, fat transfer to her face and surgery to reshape the corners of her eyes.
Back in 2018, she told the Mail on Sunday: 'Yes, I've had a facelift, but who hasn't?'
Beyond cosmetic procedures, her radiant appearance can also be attributed to her upkeep of healthy habits, which include abstaining from alcohol and drugs, and working out five times a week.
In an interview with Today she said: 'All right. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs – I never have. I work out. I'm pretty good with my diet, except I like chocolate.'
Upholding a good diet is also essential to maintaining a youthful appearance according to Dr Sabina, with sugar cited as particularly detrimental to the break down of collagen - which helps promote elasticity and youthfulness.
'We now know that glucose spikes and high insulin levels directly contribute to collagen breakdown,' she said.
'That's why low-sugar, low-carb diets and wearable health tech - which track how your body reacts to specific foods - are growing in popularity. Some celebs are also using supplements like NAD+ boosters, known to support cellular repair again leading to healthier organs including the skin.'
According to Cher herself, it's a relaxed mindset and a shift away from trying to look younger that actually helps her stay looking youthful.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain, she said: 'I don't know if not feeling old makes you younger. I keep up with the trends. I have lots of young friends.
'I have old friends too. Honestly, I'm not trying to feel young. I'm not trying to be young. I am who I am. I'm just getting along.'
SKINCARE
Hollywood darling Goldie Hawn may be nearing her 80s, but fans could be forgiven for thinking she's much younger thanks to her youthful glow - something she puts down to a killer skincare regime.
Having become a household name in the 1980s for a string of lovable roles in film and television, the American actress puts her radiant looking appearance down to a simple but effective skincare regime.
'I don't do much. I was using coconut oil on my face for a while,' Brightside reported. 'My mom used to do lemon - she'd squeeze lemon, and she'd put it on her face.'
Natural is the way forward for the 79-year-old, who in addition to a chemical-free skin routine, claims to have never dyed her hair either.
'I know it sounds strange, but I've never coloured my hair. I just put a regular rinse on it because I don't have any chemicals on it,' she said.
Not only that, but she attributes her youthful glow to stress control, and rigorous efforts to prevent her skin from sun damage.
'Stress relief is also a key factor in preventing ageing including the skin. Goldie Hawn has spoken about meditation and mindfulness at length and the transformative powers it has,' Dr Sabina explained.
'Sunscreen is finally getting its due,' she said. 'Nearly all celebrities use SPF religiously, alongside actives like vitamin C, retinoids, and peptides to maintain collagen and fight pigmentation.
Beyond filler and Botox, many are going back to basics to make sure they have nailed down their skincare. 'Preventative skincare has become an essential part of long-term aesthetics,' the the expert observed.
Goldie always makes sure to keep her skin protected from the ageing powers of the sun by applying a daily SPF.
'I put a little sun guard on in the morning when I remember, and the rest of it is just making sure that you're hydrated and that you eat a lot of oil-based foods or oils and smile a lot,' she told the publication in answer to how she maintains her youthful visage.
AGEING NATURALLY
Despite being 68, Bo Derek is another from a growing list of celebrities who has maintained a visage that has made her the envy of millions of women.
Having cut her teeth in acting in the movie 10 opposite Dudley Moore, Bo became an instant sex symbol.
Bo has long claimed that she shuns plastic surgery because she is happy to age gracefully - and instead, her age-defying figure has been credited to a healthy diet and an active life on her ranch in California.
Indeed, she has previously described lines around her face - which are minimal to say the least - as symbolic of 'a lot of fun' that she has had during her years on Earth.
She has previously admitted that she's considered anti-ageing procedures from time-to-time, particularly after seeing photos of herself in which she looks 'scary'.
However she claims she then reminds herself of the downsides of plastic surgery - including how people's facial expressions can sometimes change for the worse.
The actress said: 'When you look at women who have had plastic surgery, they have lost something - usually an expression, something unique to their faces.
'They start to look the same. I've always admired the women who didn't do it, so I have to keep reminding myself I'm one of them and not the other.
'When I look at some photographs of myself, I think, 'Oh, I look alright.' But, in others, I scare myself; I wish I had my old skin,' admitted the Golden Globe nominee in 2009.
In a magazine interview in 2008, she added: 'I think we all have this image that we're going to be the hold-out and show what [someone in their 50's] really looks like, but I could wake up tomorrow and say, 'Okay, enough of this.'
'Right now, I look at my lines and I think, 'Well, shoot! They're marks of a lot of fun.'
More recently, a source told Closer that 'she's still quite the beauty and dropping jaws everywhere she goes.'
The insider added: 'She's among a rare breed who refuses to succumb to cosmetic nip/tucks, and she gets very prickly at even the suggestion she's had anything 'done'.
'She just takes good care of herself, eats a mostly vegetarian diet, limits carbs, and seems happy in her marriage to John [Corbett], which accounts for a lot.
'She's a homebody who takes care of her ranch and cleans the house herself, tends to her horses and pets. That's her exercise. She also stays toned by riding her horses and swimming. Bo's the envy of every actress in Hollywood.'
'Bo Derek is known for avoiding plastic surgery but it is her healthy lifestyle which maintains her youthful appearance illustrating the importance of all these factors,' Dr Sabina said, emphasising the important of health enhancing measures to maintain a youthful look.
Indeed, though most people might think celebrities are blessed with miraculous genes or are ballooned with injectables, the truth lies in a far broader 'spectrum of wellness', Dr Sabina reiterated.
Moving away from chemical and surgical enhancement, celebrities are now choosing to embrace more natural options.
'When it comes to in-clinic treatments, we're seeing a shift toward regenerative aesthetics,' she said.
'The truth is they're investing in full-spectrum wellness—from hormones to hydration, mindset to microbiome. That's the real secret to staying timeless.
'Treatments like polynucleotides (famously dubbed the "salmon sperm facial"), exosomes, PRP (platelet-rich plasma), and advanced lasers help stimulate the skin's natural repair processes,' are becoming more popular, the aesthetics expert stipulated.
'Bo Derek has herself endorsed a skincare serum which contains regenerative ingredients including exosomes and growth factors. These options give more natural results with long-term benefits—exactly what many celebrities are now favouring.'

Jeannie Seely, soulful country singer behind hits like 'Don't Touch Me,' dies at 85

Jeannie Seely, the soulful country music singer behind such standards like 'Don't Touch Me,' has died. She was 85. Her publicist, Don Murry Grubbs, said she died Friday after succumbing to complications from an intestinal infection. Known as 'Miss Country Soul' for her unique vocal style, Seely was a trailblazer for women in country music, celebrated for her spirited nonconformity and for a string of undeniable hits in the '60s and '70s. Her second husband, Gene Ward, died in December. In May, Seely revealed that she was in recovery after undergoing multiple back surgeries, two emergency procedures and spending 11 days in the ICU. She also suffered a bout of pneumonia. 'Rehab is pretty tough, but each day is looking brighter and last night, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. And it was neon, so I knew it was mine!' she said in a statement at the time. 'The unsinkable Seely is working her way back.' Seely was born in July 1940, in Titusville, Pennsylvania, about two hours north of Pittsburgh and raised in nearby Townville. Her love of country music was instant; her mother sang, and her father played the banjo. When she was a child, she sang on local radio programs and performed on local television. In her early 20s, she moved to Los Angeles to kick-start a career, taking a job Liberty and Imperial Records in Hollywood. She kept writing and recording. Nashville was next: She sang on Porter Wagoner's show; she got a deal with Monument Records. Her greatest hit would arrive soon afterward: 'Don't Touch Me,' the crossover ballad written by Hank Cochran. The song earned Seely her first and only Grammy Award, for best country & western vocal performance in the female category. Cochran and Seely were married in 1969 and divorced in 1979. Seely broke boundaries in her career — at a time when country music expected a kind of subservience from its women performers, Seely was a bit of a rebel, known for wearing a miniskirt on the Grand Ole Opry stage when it was still taboo. And she had a number of country hits in the '60s and '70s, including three Top 10 hits on what is now known as Billboard's hot country songs chart: 'Don't Touch Me,' 1967's 'I'll Love You More (Than You Need)' and 1973's 'Can I Sleep In Your Arms?', adapted from the folk song 'Can I Sleep In Your Barn Tonight Mister?' In the years since, Seely continued to release albums, perform, and host, regularly appearing on country music programming. Her songs are considered classics, and have been recorded by everyone from Merle Haggard, Ray Price and Connie Smith to Ernest Tubb, Grandpa Jones, and Little Jimmy Dickens. And Seely never stopped working in country music. Since 2018, she's hosted the weekly 'Sunday's with Seely' on Willie Nelson's Willie's Roadhouse SiriusXM channel. That same year, she was inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame. She appeared nearly 5,400 times at the Grand Ole Opry, which she has been a member of since 1967. Grubbs said Saturday's Grand Ole Opry show would be dedicated to Seely. She released her latest song in July 2024, a cover of Dottie West's 'Suffertime,' recorded at the world-renowned RCA Studio B. She performed it at the Opry the year before.

Hugh Hefner's widow Crystal makes jaw-dropping claim about Playboy mogul's family and her inheritance

Crystal Hefner has made another shocking claim about her late husband Hugh. The former DJ, 39, already exposed the legendary Playboy mogul in her tell-all memoir Only Say Good Things, but now she's made another wild claim about Hugh's relationship with his family. During an argument with former Playmate Audra Lynn on Instagram, Crystal called Hugh's youngest son Cooper a 'narcissist' and said that father-of-four Hugh didn't even like his own children. 'Hef didn't even like his own kids, he would tell me he's not a good dad and shoo them out of the room when they would come in trying to talk to him,' she wrote. She also denied an accusation that she had 'walked away with inheritance meant for [Hefner's] family', but did confirm that she had been left with the $5million Hollywood Hills home that Hef bought her during their marriage. has contacted Crystal's representatives for comment. The blonde bombshell, who now works as a real estate agent, has been at war with her late husband and his family over the last few years. Last year, Hugh's son Marston launched a scathing attack on Crystal, accusing her of being a 'master manipulator' – and even appeared to suggest that she took advantage of his father before his death. Marston, 35, made a series of damning claims about his father's widow on the Girls Next Level podcast, suggesting Crystal was hellbent on power and oversaw changes to Hef's will when he was mentally fragile. Speaking to hosts Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, he said that Crystal became addicted to the 'idea of control and power,' and would determine who could and could not enter the Playboy Mansion. 'She liked controlling the guest list,' he said. 'She liked taking girls off and on the guest list depending on how, whatever the whims were at the time… She liked being in that position where you had to go through her or you had to ask her for things.' Her alleged obsession with control appeared to extend to matters of Hugh's will, with Marston suggesting Crystal oversaw changes when his father was 'sick' and 'dosed with f***ing medication,' which he claims left the businessman unaware of his surroundings. 'He was really sick and that's why she got all these NDA things,' he said. 'According to her, she didn't want people to see him not able to walk, not able to talk.' Marston, whose mother is model Kimberley Conrad, said his father would struggle to remember how to play backgammon with him due to the strong back pain medication he was on at the time. 'The year that he passed away, he changed the will and he gave me, another person, and Crystal more money,' he said. 'And I don't know how much more, I don't remember if Crystal got more than us.... 'I was looking at that when I was getting the inheritance, and I was like, "Why? When he wasn't here, when he didn't know what the f*** was up or down half of the time, why would he change his will?"' He continued: 'And that's why I sent an email saying, "I don't think he's competent anymore, guys, can we agree on this?" And nobody really wanted to address what I perceived as the elephant in the room. 'And then more than that, it's like why is it when somebody can't play his favorite thing and doesn't know where he is, why is he changing his f***ing will? Why are people allowing that to happen?' Crystal famously wed the magazine publisher in 2012 when she was 26 and he was 86. They were married until his death at age 91 in 2017, which was the result of heart failure and septicemia after contracting a deadly strain of e-coli. He left a reported $43 million fortune behind. Last year, Crystal published her explosive memoir, Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy And Finding Myself, in which she made a number of bombshell claims, including that she never loved the late magazine kingpin and she felt imprisoned in their four-year marriage. Marston revealed how he had messaged Holly and Bridget, referring to Crystal as a 'master manipulator' after reading her book, and questioned some of her claims - as well as her motivation for writing the memoir. Suggesting that she buys Instagram followers, he asked: 'If you're not interested in fame, why are you buying Instagram followers? 'If you're not after money, then why was she hustling as Crystal DJ Hefner?' Crystal later fired back at Marston's claims in a statement to Us Weekly. 'I feel that obviously he has a lot of pain and hurt still from the relationship or lack thereof with his father.' She added, 'And there are some things I think he's trying to heal or get answers to that he's realizing may never be answered. So maybe he's filling in the blanks themselves.' Crystal also strongly denied Marston's claims that she had Hugh 'dosed with f***ing medication' and that she had 'invited strangers' to Hugh's funeral. 'I was married to him. I was closest to Hef,' she insisted. Regarding Holly and Bridget, Crystal said that the duo were trying to 'sabotage' her and 'pull my life apart'. 'If I have a problem with someone, I'll go to the person and talk to them. Obviously they just want attention,' she sniffed. In another statement, this time to the New York Post, Crystal said that Marston's claims about her changing Hef's will were false. 'This story is untrue and was discredited by Hef's estate attorney who wrote his will years before Hef passed,' she said. Last month, Crystal announced that she had officially taken legal steps to change her name, nearly eight years after her husband's death. On June 13, 2025, she filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court to revert to her maiden name, Crystal Margaret Harris. The filing, which was reviewed by People, indicates that she is seeking to resume the name she held before her marriage to Hugh.

Stevie Nicks, 77, sparks health concerns as she pulls out of tour dates due to injury

Stevie Nicks announced on Friday that she was canceling all of her concerts scheduled for August and September. The 77-year-old Fleetwood Mac singer shared a statement on Instagram revealing that she had recently suffered a fractured shoulder that would make performing impossible in the short term. Although the announcement noted that she was still cleared for her previously announced shows in October, its somber tone spooked some fans who briefly feared for the worst. Nicks' disappointing post came on the heels of a more upbeat announcement this week that her long out-of-print album Buckingham Nicks — her collaborative LP with then-lover Lindsey Buckingham that preceded the musicians joining a revamped Fleetwood Mac lineup — would finally be reissued. The album has never been reprinted, remastered or digitally transferred for streaming or downloads since its 1973 debut, despite positive reappraisals over the years and the massive popularity of Fleetwood Mac after Nicks and Buckingham joined it. The earliest fans can hope to see Nicks in concert after her shoulder injury will be October 1, when she's set to perform in Portland, Oregon. She'll follow that show up with dates in California and a brief survey of the Southwest, before heading to the East Coast. Nicks also announced rescheduled dates for her canceled tour stops from late October through December 10, when she'll wrap up the run of shows in Hollywood, Florida. Some fans instantly assumed the worst when they saw her Instagram post before even bothering to read it. 'Jesus christ my heart skipped,' wrote one panicking fan in the comments. Some fans blamed Nicks' social media team for not making it clear enough that she would be back on the road soon enough. 'Whoever is running this Instagram, DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT AGAIN PLEASE. Love you Stevie 🥹 💕,' wrote one poster. 'Damn near had a heart attack,' admitted a fan. They joined others who joked that Nicks should be treated as fragile and covered in 'bubble wrap.' Nicks will now hit the road on October 1 in Portland, Oregon, before a tour of the Southwest and a move to the East Coast. Her rescheduled leg featured dates in the Midwest and ends in Hollywood, Florida 'My heart just skipped a beat goodness gracious,' added another user. 'Get well soon Stevie!' Some posters joked that Nicks shouldn't be taking any 'unnecessary risks.' Earlier in July, fans got their hopes up for a possible Buckingham Nicks reunion after their Instagram accounts both shared cryptic posts featuring lyrics from their self-titled 1973 pre-Fleetwood Mac LP. The two hadn't performed together in the wake of Buckingham's 2018 firing from Fleetwood Mac, and Nicks has said the group will likely never tour again following the 2022 death of Christine McVie, though she appeared to soften her stance in a 2024 Mojo interview. There's no indicating of a Buckingham Nicks reunion on the horizon, as the Instagram lyrics were revealed this week to be advance promotion for the long-awaited reissue of the duo's sole album.
