Supercross 2025 results: 450 highlights, finishing order, reaction at Daytona, Ken Roczen is sixth winner
Ken Roczen moved determinedly from fourth to the lead in the first half of Round 8 of the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross season and then held off a challenge by Cooper Webb to become the sixth winner of the year at Daytona Beach, Florida, and tie the record for the most wins during a season.
Roczen was as surprised as the fans.
The win was special because everyone wants to win a race at the famed Daytona International Speedway, but Roczen said during the post-race news conference that all his wins are special now that they are coming with less frequency. Roczen had a solid start to his season with four second-place finishes and a third in the first seven rounds, but one thing was missing: He finally was the 'W'.
Webb was one of the favorites coming into Daytona because of the four second-place finishes and six podiums he's scored in seven attempts. Webb is accustomed to being the one applying pressure, but the possibility of finally winning this race forced him into making several mistakes that could not be overcome. Finishing three positions ahead of his principal rival, Chase Sexton, padded his points lead, so Webb was content.
Aaron Plessinger would like to think he has put the early season behind him now that he has his first podium of the year. Plessinger led Daytona from Laps 4 through 7 but got pushed back as far at fourth while his teammate Sexton and Webb battled their way to the front. He kept contact with the top three and moved into that position on Lap 14. This was not only his first podium but the first top-five of 2025.
Known in 2025 for his starts, Justin Cooper did not get out of the Daytona gate quickly. He completed Lap 1 in ninth and methodically worked his way into the top five by Lap 8 of 16. One more pass in the final laps placed him fourth on the chart.

Sexton would like to forget the last two weeks. He crashed late in Arlington as he attempted a sketchy pass on a lapped rider. Daytona was worse. Sexton crashed hard during his heat race and failed to finish with minor injuries and a damaged bike. He won the Last Chance Qualifier and had one of the worst gate picks for the feature. Sexton completed Lap 1 in eight, caught Webb midway through the race and was in third by Lap 10.
The effects of his crash started to take a toll soon after and he faded to fifth in the final rundown. Sexton now has a 10-point deficit to Webb as the series hits the halfway point.
We have been following Kevin Moranz for the past two weeks, and he made that worthwhile by qualifying directly into the feature with a seventh-place finish in his heat. Moranz finished 21st but earned points for the fifth time in eight rounds. He stands 25th in the standings.

Collin Sexton traded, will unite with another former Alabama basketball star
Former Alabama basketball star Collin Sexton is heading to his third NBA franchise. The Utah Jazz on Sunday traded Sexton and a 2030 second-round draft pick to the Charlotte Hornets for center Jusuf Nurkic. ESPN's Shams Charania was the first to report the news. Sexton is far and away Alabama's longest active player in the NBA. He was the eighth overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018, ending a 10-year drought in which no other Crimson Tide player was taken in the NBA draft. Now 26, Sexton spent the past three seasons with Utah, averaging 18-plus points per game after his career-high 24.3 with the Cavs in 2020-21. Sexton has one year and $19 million remaining on his current contract before hitting free agency next summer. It's the second time he's been traded; the Jazz acquired him in 2022 in the deal that sent Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland. While at Alabama, Sexton in 2018 guided the Crimson Tide to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in six years. It was only Alabama's second tournament appearance since 2006. Sexton will be joining a Charlotte team featuring 2023 No. 2 overall draft pick Brandon Miller, and leading scorer LaMelo Ball. Miller played in 27 games last year after suffering a season-ending wrist injury in January. He averaged 21 points and 4.9 rebounds in 34 minutes a night for the Hornets, who finished 19-63 overall last season. Justin Barcia to return from knee injury in Southwick, Pro Motocross Round 5
Justin Barcia will return to racing this weekend for Round 5 of the 2025 Pro Motocross season at The Wick 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts. Barcia suffered a knee injury in Round 14 of the Monster Energy Supercross series, and since he did not require surgery, he initially hoped to return to action in the season opener in Pala, California. Although that deadline has come and gone, Southwick is a good place for Barcia to begin his Pro Motocross season. In eight starts there, he stood on the podium four times — all with third-place overall finishes. The most recent of these came in 2021 when he finished second in Moto 1 to the eventual overall winner Dylan Ferrandis and was fourth in Moto 2. Barcia finished 14th in Motocross points last year after making only five starts. Notably, his last start of the season came at Southwick, where he finished seventh overall with results of sixth and 11th in the two motos. Following that race, Barcia chose to rest his knee after attempting to ride with an injury he suffered at the end of the 2024 Supercross season. Barcia anticipated returning for the final rounds of Motocross, beginning with Unadilla, but did not remount his GasGas 450 until the start of the SMX Playoffs. Barcia is currently 15th in combined SuperMotocross League standings, which will determine his seeding for the three-round playoffs beginning in September. He has an 88-point advantage over 21st-place Mitchell Harrison. The top 20 in combined Supercross and Motocross points earn an automatic invitation to the playoffs. Galvin takes 'brilliant' attitude to Bulldogs' bench
Lachlan Galvin has taken a "brilliant" attitude towards being pushed onto the bench but Canterbury coach Cameron Ciraldo claims not to have decided whether he will stay there beyond this week. Matt Burton's return from NSW Origin duty has forced prized mid-season signing Galvin, rather than off-contract journeyman Toby Sexton, out of the starting halves to face Penrith on Thursday. The surprise move comes as the ladder-leading Bulldogs continue to contemplate how best to use all three halves options on the charge to the NRL finals. The versatile Galvin came on from the bench and into the halves for his club debut against Parramatta earlier this month, pushing Sexton to hooker. That move could be reprised against a resurgent Panthers side chasing their fourth consecutive win. "We've got probably got plan A, plan B and plan C," Ciraldo said. "He's there as bit of insurance for our backs and if an opportunity arises somewhere else, he's been training in a number of positions. "He's been brilliant (about being benched), he just says, 'Whatever you need, I'm ready to go'. That's the type of people we want here." Sexton holds his spot at No.7 after an impressive performance in the win over South Sydney before Canterbury's bye. On the surface, the kick-first, workmanlike Sexton appears to complement Burton better than Galvin - a rangy, eyes-up player like the Dogs five-eighth. Ciraldo would not guarantee how long Galvin would remain on the bench. "They've all got their different strengths and our job as a coaching staff is to figure out what those strengths are and fit it in with what's best for the team. That's what's best for the team this week," Ciraldo said. "I think what we've done really well over the last period is just take it one week at a time, not think too far ahead, and that's what we've done this week." Thursday's clash at CommBank Stadium looms as the match of round 17, with Penrith finally appearing to have recovered from a dismal start to their fourth-straight premiership defence. The eighth-placed Panthers have won their last seven games against Canterbury, but this year's Bulldogs are the strongest they've faced in that streak dating back to 2019. "They're the benchmark of the whole competition, and rightly so," said Penrith co-captain Isaah Yeo. "They play that field position and possession style of game, and they've got the guys who can do it. They're really fit."
