Adityanath launches more projects: ‘Ayodhya's glory is being restored
During his daylong visit to Ayodhya, the chief minister, who turned 53 on Thursday, attended several events, including the 87th birthday celebration of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. 'Ayodhya's identity has undergone historic transformation… There was a time when bullets were fired at Ram devotees coming to Ayodhya. They were beaten and harassed with lathis. But today, they are welcomed with showers of flowers and provided with RO-purified drinking water. Ayodhya is redefining the spirit of hospitality for the world… Its identity is undergoing a global transformation,' the chief minister said at an event after he planted a sapling at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Pushp Vatika to mark World Environment Day.
At the 87th birthday celebration of Shri Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji Maharaj, the chief minister credited his leadership for the success of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. 'It is my privilege to be part of the birthday celebrations of Pujya Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji. I wish him a long, healthy, and spiritually fulfilling life,' he said, adding that the divine spiritual practices and blessings of revered saints are guiding the transformative journey of New India.
Calling Ayodhya the global symbol of 'Atithi Devo Bhava', Adityanath also said, 'The construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya after 500 years is a symbol of the strength of Sanatan Dharma.'
'After a wait of 500 years, on 22nd January 2024, the pran pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla was performed with great devotion by Prime Minister Modi. Today, the consecration of divine idols in the Ram Darbar and Ram Mandir has also been accomplished,' he said.
Citing the redevelopment of prominent pilgrimage centres, Adityanath said these temples serve as the spiritual pillars of a new, empowered India, emerging strong and glorious from the roots of Sanatan traditions.
He also said the vision of Viksit Bharat rooted in Sanatan Dharma is becoming a reality under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
As the day also marked Ganga Dussehra, Adityanath compared PM Modi with Bhagirath. 'It was through King Bhagirath's penance that the holy river descended on Earth. The Ganga sustains not just Uttar Pradesh but the entire nation. Its fertile plains nourish much of India,' he said. Describing Prime Minister Modi as the 'Bhagirath of modern India', he praised the Namami Gange mission, saying the sacred river was once severely polluted due to unscientific and unplanned activities by previous governments.
Later in the day, the chief minister participated in Saryu Jayanti Mahotsava, where he asked all the district magistrates to ensure that they revive at least one river in their respective regions, including Ayodhya.
'Since 2014, the river has been rejuvenated. Over 66 crore devotees witnessed the purity of the Ganga during the Kumbh in Prayagraj.' On World Environment Day, Adityanath promoted the 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' (One Tree in Mother's Name) campaign launched by the prime minister. 'If everyone plants a tree in their mother's name, we will never face an environmental crisis,' he said.
The CM shared that earlier in the day, he planted a Bel tree at his Lucknow residence, followed by Peepal, Pakad, Neem and Navgrah-related trees on the banks of the Saryu in Ayodhya. —With PTI Inputs

BJP closing schools, opening liquor shops, says Akhilesh
Varanasi: president on Thursday said the UP govt was destroying the future of children in the state by shutting thousands of primary schools. "It is shocking how thousands of schools are being shut by govt but there is no constraint on opening of new liquor shops all over the state. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The two developments showcase BJP's priorities," he said while inaugurating the party's office-cum-residence in Azamgarh. He said the BJP was out to humiliate and disrespect the PDA community. SP has named the new office building as PDA Bhawan. "This PDA is the same community that Babasaheb (AMbedkar) fought for and is often referred to as Bahujan Samaj. This PDA also stands for the 'peedit' (aggrieved), 'dukhi' (victimised) and apmaanit' (humiliated). This is our broader social alliance for which we ensure complete social justice," Akhilesh said. In the political circles, Akhilesh inaugurating the new office building was seen as SP blowing the bugle for the 2027 UP polls, as the SP chief not only set the target for cadre to ensure PDA's victory on all seats from Ghaziabad to Sonbhadra, but went on to announce 300 units free electricity to every family, iPads and Samajwadi pension of Rs 3,000 for women if the party forms next govt in UP. He also assured termination of Central govt's Agniveer scheme and strengthening of border security. He outlined how Azamgarh had been a home for SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and sitting MP Dharmendra Yadav and how people of the district and the region have backed the SP in every parliamentary and assembly elections. Akhilesh recalled how Mulayam Singh had joined hands with BSP founder Kashi Ram when he spotted a supporter carrying a photograph of the two leaders. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "That photo has Netaji (Mulayam) and Kanshi Ram together. Think how significant that time was — when two ideologies stood side by side," he said recalling the coming together of Kanshi Ram and Mulayam Singh in the early 1990s to take on the BJP. While the event was held peacefully, some Brahmin families in the city installed black flags outside their houses on the call of a Brahmin organisation and Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha to protest against Akhilesh voicing his support to Yadav katha vachaks in Etawah who were allegedly humiliated by some upper caste members for reciting katha – a specialisation till now associated exclusively to the Brahmin community.

HC seeks clarity on school mergers, warns govt lawyers of fine
Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has sought clarification from the Uttar Pradesh govt on whether a survey was conducted before deciding to merge primary schools in the state. The court has asked the govt to present the survey report, if any, and provide a well-prepared response to the petition challenging the merger. The court adjourned the hearing till Friday, warning the state's top lawyers that if they fail to present the govt's stand with full preparation and facts, a Rs 1 lakh fine may be imposed. The court made it clear that there will be no further postponement on Friday. A single bench of Justice Pankaj Bhatia passed the order on a writ petition filed by Krishna Kumari of Sitapur and 50 others. The petition was presented for hearing on Wednesday, but the govt lawyers had sought time till Thursday for arguments. Earlier, the petitioners' counsel L P Mishra and Gaurav Mehrotra argued that the state govt's decision of June 16 was "arbitrary" and "illegal". It was said that to ensure the right to education provided under Article 21A of the Constitution, the central govt passed the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act in 2009, under which education was made compulsory for children between 6 and 14 years. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo To ensure this constitutional right, the govt established a large number of primary schools in the state under the provisions of the Right to Education Act. It was said that as per the intention of the Act, schools were established for every 300 population within a radius of one km to provide the constitutional right to education and now the govt is closing down a large number of schools by merging them through an administrative order. It was argued that this act was against the provisions of Article 21A of the Constitution and the RTE Act . It was also argued that once schools have been established on a large-scale to fulfil the goal of the constitutional right under the Right to Education Act, the work done under the said Act cannot be reversed by a mere administrative order because it cannot supersede any legislative provision. Newly-appointed additional advocate general Anuj Kudesia and chief standing counsel SK Singh appeared for the state govt, while Sandeep Dixit appeared as the advocate of BSA Sitapur. The govt counsel justified the merger decision, citing low student enrollment in many schools, with around 56 schools having no students at all. However, the court questioned whether a survey had been conducted to arrive at this decision and asked to see the survey report if one had been done. When the report could not be presented and the govt counsel started presenting its case with half-hearted preparations, the court got irked and started reprimanding the govt lawyers.
