DG PFA Asim Javaid said that a large quantity of expired food items, used oil, stale ingredients and unhygienic prepared food was immediately discarded on the spot. He said poor kitchen hygiene, improper storage, dirty freezers, rusty utensils and foul-smelling environments were among the most common violations observed. He stated that food safety teams also found missing employee medical reports and incomplete food safety records. Detailed improvement notices were issued to all violators for necessary corrective measures.
DG Asim Javaid further said that food prepared with substandard ingredients poses a serious threat to public health. He reiterated that strict monitoring is being ensured from food preparation to delivery, and the authority has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against any kind of food-related fraud.

Health insurance plan to continue uninterrupted: minister
LAHORE: Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the health insurance program for the people of Punjab will continue uninterrupted. Salman said the Punjab government has recently paid Rs 22 billion in the last five years in terms of medicines in government hospitals and the closure of Sehat Card in government hospitals will not have any impact on providing free treatment to the people. The decision to limit Sehat Card to private hospitals has been taken in view of the betterment of the people and the sustainability of the health system, he said, adding: "The shortage of money for the health insurance program in government hospitals will be paid by the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department. There is no shortage of medicines in government hospitals at present." He added the department has a huge amount of Rs 32 billion to ensure the availability of medicines, under which the process of supplying medicines to government hospitals is underway. The stock of medicines is available in sufficient quantity in government hospitals and the supply of medicines is being continuously increased with time, he said. According to him, the Punjab government is committed to providing the best, quality and free treatment to the people. We will continue to take all possible steps for the further improvement of the health sector. CM vows to continue efforts for a drug-free Punjab
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that for the better and bright future of the youth, we reiterate our commitment to a drug-free Punjab. The Punjab government is committed to carry out coordinated efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs across Punjab, she said, in her message on the 'International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.' The CM said, 'The purpose of celebrating the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is to provide awareness and consciousness about drug abuse and its eradication from the society.' She highlighted, 'We must pledge to create a safe environment for children free from the detrimental effects of drugs.' She expressed her best wishes to all organizations and well aware citizens who are playing their due positive role in preventing drug abuse from the entire society. She emphasised that the drugs addicts are a great cause of concern for the entire society. She revealed that Anti-Narcotics Force is being reactivated and streamlined in Punjab so as to stamp out drug trafficking in the province. She vowed, 'Our firm resolve and determination to halt drug trafficking is unwavering at all costs.' She urged the parents to fully support the efforts of the government and other relevant organizations for the prevention and eradication of drugs from the society. She exhorted the parents to keep a vigilant eye on the movements and habits of their children.
