Shooter game loved by 10 MILLION is closing in days – fans warned they'll have to pay for an upgrade to keep playing
AN ONLINE shooter game played by 10million at its peak will disappear from two popular consoles in a matter of days.
Developers behind the title want to focus on newer platforms, meaning it will shut down on some older devices.

As such, affected players will have to bite the bullet and pay to upgrade their console if they desperately wish to continue playing.
The game in question is The First Descendant a free-to-play multiplayer online role-playing looter shooter.
It first burst onto the scene last July on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
But almost one year on, and Xbox One and PS4 owners will be shut out.

Producer Beom-Jun Lee said the move was going ahead with "much reluctance".
But studio Nexon says it was needed to make the game even better with its next "mega season update".
There is one reassuring bit of news to come out of the shake-up.
Affected players can carry over their account details to any of other platform, so they need not lose everything.

The all-important date all users need to note is June 19 for the switch off.
Gamers have had mixed feelings about the upcoming overhaul.

Now it seems that Haim's surprise set on The Park stage faced more sound issues. The trio - made up of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana - made a highly anticipated return to Somerset on Saturday night. After performing on the Pyramid Stage in 2022, they returned to their stomping ground to perform to an eager crowd. However, during their live set, fans were heard to have shouted 'louder, louder'. The Mail Online has reported that other music nearby was drowning out the performance of Los Angeles-based siblings Haim had previously dropped several hints to fans that they would be performing at Worthy Farm in the weeks running up to Glastonbury. But despite the sound issues, the American rock band kept going with their performance. Their show was very well received by fans who took to social media in droves to praise the band, and declare that they should have been a headline act. Writing on X - formerly known as Twitter -one fan gushed: "Haim were and are exceptional." Confirmed headliners: The 1975 will take to the Pyramid Stage on Friday. Neil Young will headline the festival for the second time after his last set in 2009 on Saturday after RAYE makes her return. The design features a range of cutting edge motor and battery technology for the all-electric car to replace the current Mercedes-AMG GT Four Door. It is expected to be the most aerodynamic, as a main focus, and one of the fastest cars Mercedes has ever made - even more than their Forumla-1 inspired AMG One. There will be due to the 1,360hp from three new electric motors fitted into the vehicle, giving it a combined power output of one megawatt. This means the new AMG XX will be able to reach a top speed of 224mph, which is 5mph faster than the AMG One. Whilst a zero to 60mph has not been revealed for the car, it is likely to have the fastest accelerating power of any car from the brand. It will therefore be more powerful, and lighter than a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, and may even break the 2.0-second barrier. Other exciting features include speakers in the headlights, carbon fibre bucket seat customised to passengers body shapes using 3D printed foam panels, and chequered flag ambient lighting on the interior. The speakers will be able to make different noises at low or fast speeds, and warn pedestrians of the cars presence. There is no rear window on the car, but there is a panel between the taillights which enables owners to customise their own message on the back. Mercedes reveals its new luxury EV with 'superscreen' passengers can play video games or watch Netflix on while on move As an electric car, the AMG XX is expected to be four times more powerful than the latest Tesla at 850kw DC. That means in just five minutes, the car can be charged 20-80 per cent, if a station that supports it can be found. Although no official figure for the car's range has been determined, it is expected to get around 300 miles on a single charge. It is uncertain when the new Mercedes-AMG XX Concept will go on sale, but it has surely inspired production for a car to go on the market in the near future.

Hertz faces boycott over AI scanners that can slap $400 fines in minutes

Critics are taking aim at the rental company after multiple customers say they were billed hundreds of dollars for minor damage flagged by new AI inspection scanning systems. On Reddit and Facebook, car renters are now calling for a boycott, accusing the rental giant of using AI to detect trivial damage and charge steep fees — all while making it difficult to speak with a live agent. 'I'm just not comfortable with the new technology that can flag dirt or something that can be rubbed off as damage,' A customer posted on Reddit. Another Reddit user wrote: 'The flagging is half of the problem. The other problem is Hertz using AI to file the claim. What about traditional smaller-than-the-size-of-a-golf-ball dents or bill-size scratches? I can't even speak to a live agent.' This week, the company confirmed to it had charged a driver $440 for a one-inch scratch on a wheel. The scuff, commonly caused when a driver brushes a curb while parallel parking, was flagged by the scanner. The bill included $250 for the damage, $125 for processing, and a $65 administrative fee. Another driver claimed they got a $195 fee for a tiny dent when returning a Toyota Corolla. Each driver's experience is part of a larger tech rollout at Hertz, which recently partnered with UVeye , a startup that builds high-speed automated vehicle inspection systems. Renters drive their cars through the scanners twice: once when they pick up the vehicle, and again when it's returned. Drivers will receive a copy of previously-scanned damage, the company confirmed to Hertz wants to use the scanners at 100 rental locations by the end of the year. In April, the rental firm told that it was rolling out the tech to enhance vehicle safety, not charge customers for minor cosmetic damage . The company said its policy hasn't changed, despite the $440 and $195 charges. It says most drivers who have used the UVeye scanners haven't received a charge. 'Over 97 percent of cars scanned with this technology have not detected any billable damage, proving a vast majority of rentals are incident-free,' a spokesperson for the company said. 'Vehicle damage has long been a common pain point across the car rental industry for customers and companies alike. 'At Hertz, we're using this technology to address this friction head-on and our goal is to always improve the customer experience while ensuring customers are not charged for damages they did not cause and by bringing greater transparency, precision, and speed to the process when they do.' In April, the company also told that the systems will ensure their customers always receive safe cars. UVeye's scanners can more accurately assess underbody damage and tire tread degradation than human inspectors. But independent analysts worry the tech solution isn't inspiring a ton of human trust. 'A line is crossed when AI applications become overly aggressive and prioritize efficiency over customer fairness and satisfaction,' David Linthicum, an AI analyst, previously told 'Customers value fairness and human interaction.' Hertz declined to comment on this article. Instead, the company pointed to its loss damage waiver, which typically costs between $20 and $30 per rental day, as a way to avoid surprising fees.
