'Shilpa Shirodkar Shot Dead, Had 25 Missed Calls': Actor Recalls Raghuveer Shoot
Shilpa Shirodkar recalls the confusion during Raghuveer shoot. Shilpa mentions that rumours about her death were spread to promote the film.
Shilpa Shirodkar was once rumoured to have died during the shoot of Raghuveer. The 1995 film starred Suniel Shetty as the titular hero, alongside Shilpa Shirodkar, Suresh Oberoi, Sudha Chandran, Mohnish Bahl, Aruna Irani, Gulshan Grover, and Prem Chopra. During the film's shoot, a rumour was circulated that Shilpa had been shot dead. This created panic at the actress's house. However, she was later told by the makers that it was a promotional activity for the film.
In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Shilpa Shirodkar recalled the misunderstanding. 'I was in Kullu Manali. My dad was trying to call the hotel because we didn't have mobile phones at that time. I was shooting with Suniel Shetty there. Everyone who was watching the shoot there kept thinking if this is Shilpa or someone else because they knew the news," she said.
Shilpa added, 'When I came back to the room, there were around 20-25 missed calls. My parents were worried, there was a headline in a newspaper that Shilpa Shirodkar was shot dead."
However, the film's producer later told her that it was a promotional strategy. 'When he told me, I was like 'Okay'. Yes, thoda zyada hogaya. There was no PR activity or anything at that time. Kuch pata hi nahi tha na. I was the last one to know that something like this was going to happen. No one used to take permission at that time. The film worked well, so I wasn't really angry," the actor shared.
Meanwhile, Shilpa Shirodkar will next be seen in Jatadhara, a highly anticipated pan‑India supernatural thriller that marks her return to the silver screen after several years away. Jatadhara is a supernatural mystery thriller centred around the enigmatic Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple and its hidden mystical lore.
It blends suspense, intrigue, and mythological elements into an atmospheric narrative. Sudheer Babu headlines the film, undergoing intense physical training for the role. Sonakshi Sinha debuts in a Telugu-Hindi bilingual project and shares the screen with Shilpa for the first time. Shilpa Shirodkar plays a key role, marking her comeback following her stint on Bigg Boss 18.

Women Dancing On Kanwar Truck Get ‘Shameful And Disgusting' Comments From Internet
Last Updated: A video showing women dancing on a Kanwar Yatra truck has sparked outrage for allegedly disrespecting the sanctity of the pilgrimage. A video has gone viral showing two women dancing on a decorated truck during the Kanwar Yatra. The incident has drawn strong criticism on social media. The clip, whose exact location is unknown, shows a group of Kanwariyas, devotees of Lord Shiva, standing atop a moving truck while crossing what appears to be a flyover. What caught everyone's attention was the two women dancing to loud DJ music in front of a cheering crowd of male devotees. The truck, brightly decorated with lights and large speakers, looked more like a stage for entertainment than part of a religious procession. Over the video, a note in Hindi reads 'ये कैसे भक्त हैं (which roughly translates to 'What kind of devotees are these'), reflecting the outrage of many viewers. The caption to the video states – 'Kanwariyas enjoying raunchy dance and music while on their way to 'pilgrimage". So much sanskaar." Kanwariyas enjoying raunchy dance and music while on their way to 'pilgrimage". So much sanskaar. — Dr Aratrika Ganguly (@aratrika_g08) July 21, 2025 The clip was shared on July 21 on X and has received over tonnes of views so far. Many internet users have slammed the act, calling it disrespectful to the spirit of the Kanwar Yatra. Some people feel that the pilgrimage is being turned into a public spectacle, losing its spiritual meaning. A user said, 'Shameful and disgusting to say the least!" 'Shameless fellows," someone else wrote. 'So blessed to be born in the south of India. Thank God we won't do such things in the name of religion," an individual stated. As of now, there has been no official statement from authorities about the video. However, there is growing public demand for action to be taken, with many asking for better regulation to prevent such incidents in the future. What is the Kanwar Yatra? The Kanwar Yatra is a yearly pilgrimage where Lord Shiva devotees, known as Kanwariyas, collect holy water from the Ganga River—usually on foot—and offer it at Shiva temples in their hometowns. The tradition is rooted in devotion, simplicity and penance. But in recent years, many participants have started using trucks, loudspeakers and even DJs, leading to debates about whether these changes are harming the spiritual essence of the holy yatra. view comments First Published: July 22, 2025, 19:13 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Taylor Swift's 20-Year Career To Be Explored In New Channel 4 Series
Channel 4 announced a two-part documentary on Taylor Swift, titled Taylor, exploring her career, transformation, and cultural impact. A new two-part documentary series centred around global music icon Taylor Swift has been officially announced by Channel 4. Titled Taylor (working title), the project promises to offer a closer look into the pop sensation's two-decade-long career and her rise to cultural prominence. The series aims to unpack the complexities of Swift's transformation from a teenage country singer to one of the most influential and highest-grossing artists of all time. Channel 4 confirmed the project following months of speculation, calling Swift a 'global phenomenon" and promising a fresh take through rare archival material, commentary from insiders, and perspectives from fans and experts alike. 'Taylor Swift is an unprecedentedly powerful 21st century voice for women and young people," said director Guy King. 'Under the microscope of social media since the earliest days of MySpace and Tumblr, she came of age during a new feminist wave. With her fame came controversy, which she so skilfully wrestled to the floor. We're excited to tell her story." The documentary, produced by Sandpaper Films (known for A Deadly American Marriage), is being helmed by King, whose past credits include The Fall and Bombing Brighton. Jessica Brady serves as the producer, with Lina Caicedo on board as archive producer. Executive producers include Susannah Price and Henry Singer, while BAFTA-winning editor Martin Thompson is leading post-production. Blue Ant International will handle global sales. Channel 4's exploration of Swift's journey comes in the wake of her record-breaking Eras Tour and the critical success of her Netflix documentary Miss Americana. With over 20 years in the music industry, Swift has earned widespread acclaim and become the first billionaire whose fortune is primarily built on music. The series will examine not only the highs and lows of her public life but also the loyal fanbase she's cultivated and the broader impact she's had on the music industry and popular culture.
