Sharmila, Manickam hit out at Former CM Jagan for YSRCP worker run over by car in Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: APCC chief YS Sharmila Reddy and Congress leader Manickam Tagore fiercely criticised YSRCP president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for the tragic death of YSRCP worker Cheeli Singaiah (70).
The incident occurred near Etukuru village in Sattenapalli mandal on June 18, when Singaiah, attempting to offer flowers to Jagan, was fatally run over by a vehicle in the former CM's convoy. Sharmila, in a strongly worded statement, called the incident 'horrific' and condemned Jagan's 'irresponsible behaviour'.
She highlighted that the vehicle, later confirmed by CCTV footage and social media videos to be Jagan's, continued moving despite Singaiah falling under its wheels. 'How could the convoy proceed without noticing a person underneath?' she questioned.
Sharmila also slammed Jagan for standing on the vehicle's sideboard, waving to thousands, despite permission for only 100 attendees. 'Who gave you the right to endanger lives for a political spectacle?' she demanded, questioning the purpose of the visit — a statue unveiling for someone who died by suicide after a betting loss.
She accused the TDP-led NDA government of negligence, alleging that police allowed a crowd far exceeding permitted limit, and failed to act. 'Why did police cooperate, and why was the intelligence system dormant?' she asked
Manickam Tagore echoed Sharmila's views on X, stating, 'Human lives mean nothing to @YSJagan.' He described Singaiah's death as a result of 'arrogance and recklessness', labelling Jagan's actions as 'criminal negligence' for waving to supporters from the sideboard while disregarding safety.

"Misogyny": Mahua Moitra On Trinamool Leaders' Remarks On Kolkata Rape Case

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra said on Saturday that the probe in the rape incident of a female student is going on war footing and stressed that TMC-led West Bengal government has "zero tolerance" for crime against women. A female student was allegedly gang-raped inside the South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata's Kasba on Wednesday, June 25. Kolkata police has formed a five-member Special team to investigate the incident. The three accused, Manojit Mishra, Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, who the Police have named, have been remanded to police custody till July 1. "College student's rape investigation on war footing - @KolkataPolice identified & arrested all accused within 12 hrs, sent to 4 day custody. @AITCofficial & state govt has zero tolerance for crime against women - swiftest action taken in rape & POCSO cases. Unlike @BJP4India who glorify, garland & reward rapists & killers, " Moitra who represents the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency said in social media post X on Saturday. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched an all-out attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal over the alleged gangrape incident, with the party demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. BJP leader Gourav Vallabh told ANI, "What is the relationship between the gang rape accused and the TMC? Why do accused often emerge as members of the TMC party? In this case, the accused is also found to be a member of TMC. All of this is happening when the West Bengal Chief Minister is a woman... I believe Bengal has now become synonymous with anarchy, corruption, and nepotism. I strongly demand that a government that fails to protect its women must be dismissed. It is disgraceful to see MPs standing with the accused, claiming it was a matter of friendship or asking 'what should we do.' Such behaviour from TMC leaders, who are trying to shield the accused, is shameful... Mamata Banerjee should resign immediately." The incident that comes 10 months after the RG Kar hospital rape and murder case has triggered a major political row in West Bengal. Congress and the BJP earlier in the day held separate protests over the incident. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers also held a 'Mashal March' demanding justice for the rape survivor.

Dad acting like a child due to old age, ties with BJP had his nod: Anbumani

CHENNAI/VILLUPURAM: In perhaps the first open reproach against the recent actions of PMK founder S Ramadoss, party president Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday said his father has become a child in the past five years due to old age. According to party sources, Anbumani, who spoke candidly at a closed-door meeting of the party's social media functionaries in Sholinganallur, refuted his father's claims that the decision to ally with the BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha election was taken without his full knowledge. 'If Ayya had expressed a preference for joining the AIADMK-led alliance, I would have honoured that decision too,' Anbumani reportedly said, while stressing that the alliance with BJP was formed after Ramadoss's approval. Without taking names, he also accused three individuals of 'taking advantage' of his father at the moment for their personal gains and steering the party in the wrong direction by creating confusion.

'I think RSS has moved on': Did Shashi Tharoor defend the Sangh? Here's what Congress MP said on Rahul Gandhi's 'Manusmriti' charge

Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor and LoP Rahul Gandhi - File Image NEW DELHI: Amidst the growing rift with the Congress Party, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor on Saturday appears to have sided with the RSS-BJP over the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi's accusation that the RSS wanted 'Manusmriti', not the Constitution. While answering to a question over Rahul Gandhi's tweet that the RSS-BJP want Manusmriti instead of the Constitution, Congress MP said that historically the Raebareli MP is right as then RSS chief MS Golwalkar had said that one of the greatest flaws of the Constitution is that there is nothing of the Manusmriti in it. "But I think the RSS itself has moved on from those days," Tharoor said. "Historically, he's (Rahul Gandhi) referring to the fact that that was a criticism expressed at the time of the adoption of the Constitution. Mr Golwalkar, amongst others, said that one of the greatest flaws of the Constitution is that there is nothing of the Manusmriti in it, but I think the RSS itself has moved on from those days. So, as a historical statement, it's accurate, whether it's a reflection of how they feel today. The RSS should be in the best position to answer that..." Tharoor said while talking to reporters. Shashi Tharoor's widening rift with the Congress Party has come under renewed spotlight after a string of pointed remarks and cryptic social media posts seemingly challenging the party's leadership. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo One such post read, 'Don't ask permission to fly. The wings are yours. And the sky belongs to no one.' This, followed by a series of similar messages, signaled growing tensions between Tharoor and the party. The tensions between Tharoor and Congress leadership rose after he praised PM Modi's diplomacy during Operation Sindoor in a Hindu article, describing his 'energy' and 'dynamism' as assets for India's global standing. The PMO shared the piece, fuelling speculation about Tharoor's loyalty. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge indirectly rebuked him, suggesting his praise for PM Modi was inappropriate. "We say nation first, but some consider Modi first, country later. What can we do about that?" he asked. Tharoor, however, clarified that his remarks reflected national interest, not support for the BJP.
