Married detective slept with junior staff and bragged about being a ‘sugar daddy'
Det Ch Insp Roger Wood is accused of exploiting two staff after he boasted to them about his 'rank, importance and power'.
He faces two charges of gross misconduct for engaging in inappropriate emotional relationships with two women named as Ms A and Ms B.
The officer, of Hampshire Police, also faces a charge of excessive communications with Ms B.
Mr Wood had been a police officer for 16 years when he resigned in February 2024 and was nationally recognised for his work on sexual offences investigations and online predators.
He met the trainee police staff investigator Ms A at a domestic abuse conference in March 2023 and they flirted with each other, the hearing in Eastleigh, Hampshire was told.
They met again the next day at a police station in Basingstoke.
Mr Wood joked he was 'stalking' Ms A and told her the case he was investigating was 'only a murder when I say it is'.
'Exchanged flirtatious messages'
Afterwards Ms A messaged Mr Wood on LinkedIn and the pair exchanged a 'large number of flirtatious messages' including naked photos from Ms A, Jason Beer KC, counsel for Hampshire Police, told the hearing.
The senior officer responded to one of the nude images by offering to be Ms A's 'sugar daddy' and suggesting they make their own naked pictures when they met up.
Mr Wood had been warned by three other colleagues that Ms A was vulnerable and struggling at work.
But a few days later he drove to her home in Oxfordshire and the pair had sex.
The hearing was told Ms A was at her lowest when she met Mr Wood and on medication for anxiety and depression following a relationship breakdown.
Mr Wood denies any breach of conduct and says he went to Ms A's house to tell her he did not want to have a relationship with her.
Between May 2022 and April 2023 he was a senior adviser to the Police and Crime Commissioner and he met a young staff member, referred to only as Ms B, in August 2022.
Their relationship developed through Microsoft Teams with 9,965 messages exchanged between the pair over eight months.
Ms B told him she had ADHD, 'crippling anxiety and had been bullied in her previous job'.
Mr Wood asked Ms B to knit him socks with 'world's best detective' on them, said 'I am the SIO [Senior Investigating Officer] everyone wants' and told her he was 'too important' to attend a violence against women and girls meeting, Mr Beer KC said.

Kemp was denied bail at a hearing in June. She was remanded in custody in Australia until her case returns to court on 11 August for legal argument. Prosecutors previously said Kemp had a blood alcohol content of 0.158 when she 'careered into his back' at up to 25km/h as the dad stood at a crossing on a Saturday night in June. The court heard walkers had to 'take evasive action' to avoid Kemp's 'inexplicably dangerous' riding, which was captured on CCTV. She had been drinking with a friend from 2.30pm - who was kicked out of a bar for being too drunk - before they hired the e-scooter just before 8.30pm. Her bail bid was rejected after a magistrate ruled she posed too great a flight risk. The magistrate said: "It's a very difficult decision for the court to make. The temptation might be that [she] won't return. "I can't manage that risk." Phan's devastated family described him as a 'beloved husband, father-of-two, brother, and dear friend', and are now calling for a crackdown on e-scooter safety laws. 'We also call for a review of the governance and safety regulations surrounding hired e-scooters to help prevent further serious incidents that put lives at risk,' they said in a statement. In a statement released through police, Phan's grieving family pleaded for privacy and called on authorities to tighten e-scooter hire regulations. 'We also call for a review of the governance and safety regulations surrounding hired e-scooters to help prevent further serious incidents that put lives at risk,' they said. The charge of dangerous driving causing death carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. And under Western Australian law, e-scooter riders have to wear a helmet, be sober, carry no passengers and be over 16 years old.

Two teenage boys killed after car smashes into tree in horror crash
Police were called in the early hours of Sunday morning to reports that a car had collided with a tree. Two teenage boys have died after a car smashed into a tree in a horror crash. Just before 3am on Sunday morning, emergency crews raced to the scene in Corhampton, Hampshire after receiving reports of a grey Hyundai i20 crashing into a tree. Two teens, a 16 and 17-year-old boy, were pronounced dead at the scene, reports the Mirror. In a statement, Hampshire Police said: "Sadly, despite best efforts of emergency services, a 16 year-old boy and a 17 year-old boy died at the scene. "Their families have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. "As part of our investigation we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who has relevant dash cam footage capturing the incident or the moments leading up to it. "If you have any information, please contact us online or via 101 quoting reference 44250311184." Last week, in a separate incident, we reported that Jake Larmour, 18, was seriously injured in the collision involving a Seat Leon and a bus on the A82 in Glencoe at 11.15am on Thursday, July 3. Emergency services raced to the scene and Jake, a passenger in the car, and the driver, were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. Sadly, the teenager passed away five days later. The driver's current condition is unknown. Following the tragedy, nearly £5,000 has been raised in memory of Jake, who passed away just hours after scaling Ben Nevis, which had been a lifelong dream of his. In a statement released through Police Scotland, his family said: 'Our beautiful baby boy Jake was taken from us after what was supposed to be one of the best days of his life. He'd been and climbed Ben Nevis which was a dream of his and was on his way home to tell us all about it. 'Words can't describe how we are feeling, we were only celebrating his 18th birthday just over a week ago and now we are arranging his funeral. Please let us grieve as a family. Fly high our darling Jakey.' Paying tribute to Jake, friends remembered the teenager as "the sweetest boy with the biggest heart". One friend wrote online: "You will be loved forever and always jake. Such a great friend to everybody. Fly high." Another added: "Most sweetest boy with the biggest heart and even bigger goals. Taken too soon." Another friend commented: "Jake was so lovely. My heart breaks for you all." The road was closed for eight hours to allow an investigation to take place. Police say inquiries into the fatal crash are, however, ongoing. Sergeant Ewan Calder said: 'Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Jake at this very difficult time. Our inquiries into this crash are still ongoing and I would urge anyone who was travelling on the A82 around 11.15am on 3 July and saw what happened to contact us. 'Likewise, if you saw either vehicle prior to the collision and have information which may assist our investigation, please get in touch. I'd also ask drivers with dash-cam footage to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.'
