Lily Allen does a 180 as she apologises for 'misogynistic' Katy Perry comments
Last week, pop star Lily, 39, was one of several celebrities criticising Katy, who was aboard a six-woman crew blasted into space as part of a Blue Origin flight.
The 40-year-old sang Louis Armstrong's What A Wonderful World as she reached zero gravity along with CBS Mornings presenter Gayle King, former rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, astronaut Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and Jeff Bezos's partner Lauren Sanchez.
After landing back on Earth 10 minutes and 21 seconds later, however, Katy and co. were met with immense backlash, with Smile songstress Lily branding the whole thing 'so out of touch'.
Speaking on her Miss Me? podcast, which she co-hosts with pal Miquitta Oliver, Lily introduced the topic with: 'Katy Perry and her mates going up to space for 12 minutes…'
Miquita responded: 'If they're going to go up to space for 12 minutes, we can talk about it for 10 seconds and that's about all it deserves.'

Lily then asked incredulously: 'I mean, what the f***ing hell is that all about?'
She then ranted: 'I just think it's so out of touch we're on the brink of a recession, people are really struggling to make ends meet, it just seems like things are hard at the moment.'
Miquita questioned: 'Not really the most appropriate time to send Katy Perry into space?', to which Lily declared: 'For absolutely no reason! It's like we send people to space to discover things, for scientific reasons.'
Mocking how the flight was 'mad into some sort of feminist thing,' it was abundantly clear what her position was… until the next podcast ep, on which Lily has done a 180.
Reflecting on her earlier remarks, the LDN singer began: 'I would actually like to apologise for being mean about Katy Perry last week.
'There was actually no need for me to bring her name into it, and it was my own internalised misogyny.'
Lily continued: 'I've been thinking about it a lot, and it was just completely unnecessary to pile on with her.'
There's one point Lily stands strong on, though, but perhaps wishes she addressed it differently.
'I disagree with what it was that they did, but she wasn't the only person that did it.
'She was possibly the most famous and the one that divides people the most.'
As mentioned, Lily was far from the only person who had an issue with the space trip, with the likes of Emily Ratajkowski declaring herself 'disgusted' at the 'parody'.
'Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?', the model vented to her followers.

'And then to try to make it like… I'm disgusted. Literally, I'm disgusted,' she concluded, visibly infuriated.
Meanwhile, reality star Vicky Pattinson stated that the mission doesn't represent 'feminism,' claiming its aim was to 'distract' people from how women's rights are being 'slowly, almost imperceptibly, taken away.'
Katy and the crew caught heat from social media too, with several moments from the day reaching viral meme status and becoming the subject of TikTok hot takes.
While Katy herself described the flight as 'life-changing,' broadcaster Gayle admitted to feeling 'saddened' and 'disappointed' by the reaction, insisting: 'There was nothing frivolous about what we do.'
Speaking to CBS Morning, she added: 'Space is not an either or. It's a both and, and because you do something in space, doesn't mean you're taking anything away from Earth. And what you're doing in space is trying to make things better here on Earth.
'What Blue Origin wants to do is take the waste here and figure out a way to put it in space to make our planet cleaner. Jeff Bezos has so many ideas, and the people that are working there are really devoted and dedicated to making our planet a better place. That's number one.' More Trending
Katy has since kickstarted her latest tour, which also hasn't gone down well.
The Lifetimes tour has been mercilessly ridiculed by X users, many of whom have urged Katy to cancel her shows completely and offer people refunds due to the 'cringe' nature of her routines.
Katy is performing 84 concerts, which will include eight in the UK later this year, although time will tell whether the reviews improve by then, since her choreography is currently being called 'the worst I have ever seen in my life'. Oh dear.

TV fans have just hours to binge ‘bonkers' drama before new season launches
One of the hottest entries into the 'it's terrible but I can't stop watching' 2023 category of TV drama was over on Channel 4. The first season of the frothy swingers drama The Couple Next Door was pretty panned by critics – with a 38% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes – but viewers couldn't get enough. In fact, the season became Channel 4's biggest scripted streaming launch ever, with the first episode garnering more than a million streams in its first week. Starring Sam Heughan and Eleanor Tomlinson, the six-part run saw a young couple move to the 'burbs, only to become a bit overly friendly with their neighbours – with dire consequences. The second season turns the show into an anthology, with only an initial nod to the couples of the first season via a newspaper frontpage, before we meet a new foursome set to swap beds. The one mainstay, besides the Belgian filming location masking for outer Leeds, is Hugh Dennis's cul-de-sac creep Alan (although he's now somewhat reformed, doing community service). She's a heart surgeon, he's an anaesthetist. But when a new nurse Mia (Aggy K Adams) joins their hospital and then decides to rent the vacant house next door to them, their marriage is turned upside down. A complicated situation is worsened by the return of Charlotte's handsome and clearly-still-into-her ex Leo (Heroes' Sendhil Ramamurthy). Senior TV Reporter Rebecca Cook shares her take… If you enjoyed the first season of the swinging Leeds neighbours, you'll be happy to hear this is more of the same – and perhaps better. But if you were among the naysayers, probably best to look away now (it's not improved that considerably). They've done away with some of the yawnsome filler of last season (criminal conspiracy, the strains of local journalism albeit from someone who can afford a humongous house), instead focusing on the character drama with a side of kink. This erotic entanglement is a touch less silly than the last, largely because of one thing: Annabel Scholey. The Split star elevates what is quite soapy material because she's just very good at what she does. Even when it's shooting dangerous looks from under some scrubs. The mysterious Mia from Norway crashes into the couple's 'sex Wednesdays' routine for scenes that are, yes, still a bit overplayed. But if you're coming into this second season from the first, you already know what you're in for. Loosely adapted from the Dutch drama Fatal Injections, the first season was billed a cheesy erotic thriller. Duncan Whittaker wrote on Google reviews that he 'loved it,' adding: 'The ending was such a bonkers bit of fun.' More Trending Jo Austin added: 'It was all a bit daft but entertaining and enjoyable enough.' However, not everyone was completely on board with the season (hence the hate watch adjacent reputation) with Helen Johnson labelling it 'ridiculous!' before adding: 'I've only seen one episode but I laughed several times (and it's not a comedy!).' Not holding back, Dean Skutela added: 'One of the worst programmes I've ever watched. I kept praying for it to get better but it just kept getting worse.' Kanye West fans demand refund after 'worst concert they've ever been to'

The Gold Digger rapper is no stranger to controversy, having previously declared he 'is a Nazi' as well as numerous erratic rants online. Ahead of the gig, Kanye, who goes by Ye, was sued by Lauren Pisciotta for assault, battery, sex trafficking and false imprisonment – which he has denied. However, his own fans turned against him in Shanghai, angrily chanting for a 'refund' outside the stadium. Ye, 48, was said to be around 40 minutes late on stage, prompting outrage from the awaiting crowd of 70,000 people. The Saturday night show was the first gig the rapper had performed at in almost a year, with his last live performance also in China in September. Timing is strictly monitored for Shanghai shows, with an abrupt cut-off should you start late, according to local fans on social media. Not only was he delayed, but the rainy gig was plagued by technical issues, according to The Global Times . The DJ had to restart several songs; meanwhile, the overall sound quality was not up to scratch, leading to complaints across social media. 'So I've been a fan of Kanye West since I was a teen,' said Fabian Lemuel on X, while sharing a clip of the performance. 'MBDTF opened my ears to the sonics in music. 'Was hard to get tix for him in Shanghai but got it. Was hyped af. Couldn't even sleep night before. But. Worst concert I've ever been to. @kanyewest u can be better.' DetroitShowtyme said Kanye 'finally showed up 40 minutes late' and added: 'For those familiar with the strict rules in CHINA, this time WILL not be added back. They will cut his show precisely according to schedule 🎬.' Videos of the crowd chanting 'refund' in English appeared on various social media platforms. 'Shanghai consumers DO NOT PLAY,' DetroitShowtyme continued. 'Massive crowd was shouting REFUND after Ye was late 40 minutes to his concert.' Others were praising the concert, with Gregor Estevan stating, 'they can't cancel the goat'. Event promoter StellarAmberGroup posted a message on Sina Weibo, a platform similar to X, in which they apologised to fans. 'For this long-awaited return after 17 years, Ye's team insisted on prioritising artistic integrity,' they wrote. 'After emergency adjustments, the show was delayed to ensure the best possible experience and to minimise the disappointment for the audience. 'We are deeply moved by the understanding and patience shown by many of the attendees and express our heartfelt gratitude. We also extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused and appreciate everyone's attention and support.' During the concert itself, Ye had a rare self-censor when he altered the lyrics of his antisemitic song Heil Hitler, which ends with a sample from a speech by Adolf Hitler in 1935 in the original German. He sang 'hallelujah' instead of the offensive lyric, which has reportedly resulted in the Power rapper being banned from Australia. Earlier this month, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke told ABC: 'Once he released the Heil Hitler song, he no longer has a valid visa in Australia. 'It wasn't a visa for the purpose of concerts. It was a lower-level and the officials still looked at the law and said, you're going to have a song and promote that sort of Nazism, we don't need that in Australia.' More Trending Ye's wife Bianca Censori has family down under, so he had a 'lower-level' visa, which has now been revoked. The Shanghai gig comes days after Rubicon Festival in Bratislava, Slovakia, was cancelled for announcing Ye as a headliner. Artists were rapidly dropping out of the festival with fans signing a petition against the gig, calling his inclusion 'an insult to historic memory, a glorification of wartime violence and debasement of all victims of the Nazi regime.'
