Emirates returns to the Paris Airshow after 15 years, showcasing its new A350 and reaffirming $130bn in aircraft investments with France.
Emirates has returned to the International Paris Airshow for the first time in over 15 years, unveiling its newly delivered Airbus A350 and reinforcing its long-standing strategic partnership with France's aviation sector.
The A350, which is on display until 19 June, features Emirates' next-generation cabin design across all three classes, with fully upgraded interiors and inflight technologies.
Visitors at the show can experience the airline's enhanced Business Class and Premium Economy cabins, as well as a redesigned and more spacious Economy Class, reflecting Emirates' ongoing commitment to innovation in passenger experience.
Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline, said: 'We're pleased to be at the Paris Airshow, showcasing the very best of air travel on one of the most important platforms in the aerospace exhibition calendar.
'Coming back to France's most important aerospace show demonstrates how committed Emirates is to supporting the country's aviation industry – not just through our day-to-day operations, but through ongoing investments across the entire aerospace supply chain.'
Emirates currently serves France with 21 weekly flights to Paris, including three daily A380 services, alongside a daily A380 to Nice and a daily A350 to Lyon.
Emirates remains the only international airline to operate an A380 to Nice Côte d'Azur Airport.
Since its inception in 1985, Emirates has invested heavily in the French aviation sector, including: Investing more than €114bn ($130bn) in the purchase of 254 Airbus aircraft, including the A300, A310, A330, A340, A380, and A350 models
Supported thousands of jobs across the French aerospace industry, with Emirates acting as a key customer for French manufacturers such as Airbus, Safran, Thales, and Michelin
In 2023, the airline signed a series of major supply contracts with Safran worth over €1bn ($1.14bn), including a €896m ($1bn) agreement for next-generation seats to be installed across Emirates' new A350 fleet, Boeing 777X-9, and the existing 777-300ER aircraft
It also invested €322m ($367.5m) in Thales' AVANT Up inflight entertainment system, which will debut on the A350 Beyond aircraft, Emirates contributes €189m ($215m) annually to the French economy through operational expenditure including fuel uplift, overflight charges, catering, landing and handling fees, and crew accommodation The A350 on display features 32 lie-flat Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, 21 Premium Economy seats, and 259 Economy Class seats.
The aircraft offers a redesigned interior with more headroom, wider aisles, advanced cabin lighting, and faster Wi-Fi, as well as Emirates' latest generation of inflight entertainment systems delivering a cinematic viewing experience.
By the end of 2025, the Emirates A350 is expected to serve 17 destinations globally. The airline has so far inducted seven A350s into its fleet, with 58 more scheduled for delivery in the coming years, as Emirates continues to modernise its long-haul fleet with fuel-efficient and passenger-focused aircraft.

The move comes days after a ceasefire was reached in the conflict between Iran and Israel, which had severely disrupted regional air traffic and prompted many international airlines to avoid Iranian airspace. Tehran had shut its skies on June 13, following a large-scale bombing campaign by Israel. The closure caused widespread flight diversions across the Middle East. Despite Iran's decision to reopen its airspace, Dubai-based Emirates airline announced on Saturday that it would extend the suspension of its flights to and from Tehran until July 5, citing continued uncertainty in the region. The airline had already faced disruptions earlier in the week, rerouting some flights on June 23 as a precaution. However, Emirates confirmed that its services to Baghdad and Basra in Iraq will resume as scheduled on July 1 and 2, respectively. The recent escalation between Iran and Israel in mid-June led to heightened tensions and intermittent air travel disruptions across the Middle East. Immigration Is Costing France 3.4% Of Its GDP

Immigration has not delivered the economic benefits long promised in France and may, in fact, be dragging down the country's economy, according to a report by the Observatory of Immigration and Demography (OID), according to Le Figaro. Rather than boosting growth, the think tank claims immigration is costing France the equivalent of 3.4 per cent of its GDP due to a significant mismatch between the taxes immigrants contribute and the services they consume. Le Figaro reports that, according to OID, taxes collected from immigrants cover only 86 per cent of their fiscal cost, creating what it calls a 'budget deficit.' This imbalance is largely due to low employment rates among immigrants: only 62.4 per cent of working-age immigrants in France are employed—one of the lowest rates in the European Union, just ahead of Belgium. The French native population, by comparison, has a 69.5 per cent employment rate. The OID argues that if immigrants were employed at the same rate as native-born citizens, French GDP would be 3.4 per cent higher, and taxable income would rise by 1.5 percentage points. 'Immigration maintains a vicious circle which harms employment and the French economy: it aggravates the structural problems of employment in France, degrades public accounts and indirectly penalizes exposed sectors of the economy,' said Nicolas Pouvreau-Monti, director of the Observatory. He acknowledged that the public debate often focuses on short-term labour needs in industries like hospitality, construction, and food service, but warned this is a narrow perspective. 'The short-term vision prevents us from thinking about the best way to make these professions more attractive for people looking for work,' he said. Pouvreau-Monti also criticized the system for importing mainly low-skilled workers rather than high-skilled migrants who could drive innovation. He warned that the economic drag created by this model forces the government to raise taxes on businesses, compounding the economic strain. 'In other words, encouraging immigration to avoid shortages in certain sectors in tension amounts to sacrificing the growth of our strategic sectors for the benefit of only a few corporate interests,' he said. According to the report, a major driver of France's immigration pattern is family reunification, or chain migration, which prioritizes familial ties over professional skills. As Pouvreau-Monti put it, 'finding work is more difficult for an immigrant when professional integration is not at the root of the decision to emigrate to France.' Worryingly, this economic inactivity appears to extend into the next generation. Drawing on OECD data, OID noted that 24 per cent of young people born in France to immigrant parents were not in employment, education, or training (NEET) during 2020–2021. This was the second-highest NEET rate in Europe and the broader Western world, just behind Belgium. OID links this trend to rising ethnic self-segregation, arguing that failure to integrate economically is contributing to increased sectarianism in France and Belgium, in contrast to other European nations. The report adds to growing skepticism across Europe over the idea that mass migration is an economic benefit. Even Britain's Labour Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer recently stated that the assumption that immigration automatically leads to economic growth has been 'tested' and 'doesn't hold.' AFP | Zurich Nestle Waters has been fined more than $610,000 for having used activated carbon filters on its Henniez bottled mineral water, Swiss public prosecutors announced Wednesday. The attorney general of western Switzerland's Vaud canton -- where Nestle has its headquarters, and where Henniez water is sourced -- accused the global food giant's bottled water division of 'misleading consumers' by having 'natural mineral water' on the label between 2008 and 2022. 'In doing so, the attorney general believes that the company obtained economic advantages by not complying with its legal labelling obligations,' a statement said, announcing the fine of 500,000 Swiss francs. In France, Nestle's bottled waters -- which include the iconic Perrier brand -- have been at the centre of a scandal since early 2024 regarding the use of micro-filtration processes. Banned for mineral waters, these processes were used by several producers, including Nestle, as revealed by the French newspaper Le Monde and Radio France. Shortly afterwards, Swiss newspaper Le Temps revealed that the Nestle Waters had also used carbon filters in the Henniez brand's factory in Switzerland. The attorney general's office said that the use of an activated carbon filtration process was discovered in the Henniez plant during an inspection in 2020. Some treatments are allowed, and the Vaud consumer office recommended that Nestle Waters apply for an exemption. However, this was refused, and the company was given until the end of 2022 to remove its carbon filter installation. A March 2023 inspection confirmed that the filter had indeed been decommissioned. But the consumer office sent a complaint to the cantonal public prosecutors, accusing Nestle Waters of having concealed the use of a carbon filter. The attorney general imposed a fine of 500,000 Swiss francs on Nestle, whose water brands last year generated sales of 3.2 billion Swiss francs ($4 billion). 'This amount takes into account the specific circumstances of the case, as the water produced presented no danger to consumers, either before or after filtration,' the statement said. 'It also takes into account the full and complete cooperation of Nestle Waters' management during the proceedings.' A Nestle Waters spokesperson told AFP the filters did not comply with Swiss regulations on mineral waters and have since been removed under the supervision of the authorities. 'We accept the ruling and express our regret for this past situation,' the spokesperson said.
