
Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship 2025 kicks off in Ajman
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, and in the presence of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, the 58th Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship kicked off today (Sunday June 15, 2025) in Ajman. Hosted for the first time by the Ajman Tourism Development Department, the prestigious event is taking place at the Emirates Hospitality Centre and will continue through June 17, 2025.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi expressed his pride in Ajman hosting the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship for the first time, pointing out that the event has drawn the attention of the global sports community to the Emirate.
He stated, 'This championship represents a pivotal opportunity to showcase Ajman's remarkable organisational capabilities and highlight the Emirate's rich cultural heritage and tourism appeal. Hosting such a major international event reflects the global sports community's confidence in Ajman's potential and infrastructure It is a key milestone in our broader strategy to position Ajman as a premier destination for world-class sporting events—driven by our robust tourism offerings and logistical strengths. This, in turn, will play a vital role in boosting the local economy, particularly the tourism and hospitality sectors.'
Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Body Building and Fitness Federation, highlighted the UAE's organising of the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship in Ajman as a significant addition to the UAE's track record of professionally and uniquely conducting sports events. He also expressed his appreciation for the support and patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, noting that it lays the foundation for the exceptional hosting of the ongoing championship in Ajman. He further emphasised that the event plays a key role in advancing the sport of bodybuilding across
local, regional and global arenas. In addition, the event is expected to pave the way for a meaningful transition by fostering this sport as an integral part of the lifestyle while encouraging stronger and long-term participation in bodybuilding and fitness events in the future.
Furthermore, Sheikh Abdullah Al Sharqi pointed out that Ajman's modern infrastructure, combined with the esteemed reputation of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, reflects the robust confidence in attaining continued success for Emirati sport. The championship commenced with an official inauguration ceremony, which was hosted by Tourism Development Department, marking the beginning of competitions across various categories. These include Classic Bodybuilding (Juniors, Men, and Masters), Women's Acrobatics, Women's Artistic Fitness, Fit Model (Women, Juniors, and Masters), Men's Fitness, Women's and Masters Physique, Women's Fit Model, Women's Physique, Body Fitness (Women, Juniors, and Masters), Women's Body Fitness, Women's and Juniors Wellness, Open Fit Pairs, and Bikini (Juniors and Women).
The event serves as a thriving platform offering various opportunities to highlight Ajman's organisational capabilities and exhibit its tourism and cultural assets. Hamdan bin Mohammed Approves Strategic Policies to Boost Dubai's Global Competitiveness
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has approved a series of new strategic policies and development projects aimed at strengthening Dubai's role as a global hub for education, innovation, sustainability, and governance. Chaired by Sheikh Hamdan, The Executive Council of Dubai approved wide-ranging initiatives during its latest meeting at Emirates Towers. These include policies focused on higher education, career guidance, air quality, corporate dispute resolution, and construction governance — all aligned with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Education Strategy 2033. The Council endorsed a major project to attract top global universities, aiming to position Dubai among the world's top 10 student destinations by 2033. The initiative targets having international students make up 50% of total enrolments, with the higher education sector expected to contribute AED5.6 billion to Dubai's GDP. An Academic and Career Guidance Policy was also approved to support students in making informed career decisions. Led by the KHDA, the policy sets key targets including 90% employment for Emirati graduates within six months of graduation and enhanced collaboration between schools, universities, and employers. To further bolster Dubai's legal and business environment, the Council greenlit the Dubai International Mediation Centre, designed to offer globally recognised, cost-efficient dispute resolution services and attract foreign investment. Environmental sustainability was another key focus, with the approval of the Air Quality Strategy 2030. The plan aims to ensure 90% of days meet clean air standards by the end of the decade, with targeted reductions in major pollutants. Lastly, the Governance Policy for Government Construction Projects was introduced to standardise processes, boost transparency, and optimise public spending. Dubai real estate broker programme tops $136m in deals amid Emiratisation drive
The Dubai Land Department (DLD) has revealed that its Dubai Real Estate Broker Programme has driven more than AED500m ($136.1m) in real estate transactions since its launch, as the initiative continues to exceed expectations in boosting Emirati participation in the sector. Designed to develop national talent and promote sustainable economic growth, the programme has now trained and licensed a new generation of qualified Emirati brokers, achieving over 180 per cent of its annual target by the end of April 2025. In total, 231 new real estate brokerage firms have been officially registered under the programme so far. Dubai real estate Emiratisation As part of the initiative, Emirati participants undergo specialised training delivered in collaboration with accredited academic institutions. Graduates receive a three-year broker licence that allows them to operate legally within Dubai's regulatory framework. DLD noted that this has already translated into significantly improved broker performance and greater deal volumes. The programme forms a strategic part of the Dubai Social Agenda 2033, which aims to increase the share of Emiratis working in the real estate brokerage sector to 15 per cent within the next three years. DLD is calling on developers and brokers not yet involved in the programme to participate and contribute proposals. The initiative is built on strong public-private collaboration, with more than 71 strategic partners (including 26 real estate development firms, 38 brokerage companies, and four training institutes) working closely to support its objectives. To further incentivise firms, DLD will soon launch a points-based rewards system for brokerage companies that employ Emiratis. This system will boost participating firms' rankings within the DLD's evaluation framework, improving their competitiveness in the market.
