Naxal killed, three security personnel injured in Chhattisgarh encounter
He said a joint team of security personnel on an anti-Naxal operation and Maoists exchanged fire in the forest along the Sukma-Dantewada inter-district border.
The operation, involving personnel of the Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was launched on Monday based on inputs about the presence of Maoists in the area, said Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan.
During the search of the encounter site, security personnel found the body of a male Naxalite along with a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive materials.
'Three personnel belonging to DRG sustained injuries in a pressure IED blast during the operation. All injured personnel have been safely evacuated and are being referred to higher medical centres for advanced treatment. Their condition is currently stable and out of danger," Chavan said.
He said that as the operation is still underway, other details cannot be discussed.
With the latest gunfight, 226 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh so far this year. Of them, 208 were eliminated in the Bastar division, which includes districts of Bijapur, Bastar, Kanker, Konadagaon, Narayanpur, Sukma, and Dantewada. PTI Cor TKP GK NSK

Former Russian President and deputy chairman of Russia's security council Dmitry Medvedev issued a warning to US President Donald Trump, reminding him of how dangerous those he labels 'dead' could be. Dmitry Medvedev (R) said that Donald Trump's remarks only showed that Russia was doing everything right, and it should continue on the same path.(Reuters) In a post on Truth Social, Trump had said, "I don't care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care. We have done very little business with India, their tariffs are too high, among the highest in the World. Likewise, Russia and the USA do almost no business together." The US President further singled out Medvedev in his post and took a swipe at him: "Let's keep it that way, and tell Medvedev, the failed former President of Russia, who thinks he's still President, to watch his words. He's entering very dangerous territory!" Trump's remark on the two nations' economies came a day after he announced 25 per cent tariffs on India, plus a penalty for its purchases from Russia. He had disapproved of India's defence deals with Russia and said, "Also, they have always bought a vast majority of their military equipment from Russia, and are Russia's largest buyer of ENERGY, along with China, at a time when everyone wants Russia to STOP THE KILLING IN UKRAINE — ALL THINGS NOT GOOD!" Meanwhile, Medvedev said that Trump's remarks only showed that Russia was doing everything right, and it should continue on the same path. "If some words from the former president of Russia trigger such a nervous reaction from the high-and-mighty president of the United States, then Russia is doing everything right and will continue to proceed along its own path," Medvedev said in a post on Telegram. Responding to Trump's remarks on Russia's economy, Dmitry Medvedev said, "As for the talk about the 'dead economies' of India and Russia, and 'entering dangerous territory' - maybe he should recall his favourite movies about 'the walking dead', and also remember how dangerous the fabled 'Dead Hand', which doesn't even exist, could be." The 'Dead Hand' is a reference to a secret semi-automated Russian command system, which is designed to launch Moscow's nuclear missiles if its leadership is eliminated in a deadly strike by an enemy, a Reuters report said. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Medvedev has emerged as one of the Kremlin's most outspoken anti-Western leaders. Though some Kremlin critics ridicule him as an 'irresponsible loose canon', some Western diplomats say that his remarks give a flavour of thinking in Russia's policy-making circles. Earlier as well, Trump had hit out at Medvedev, accusing him of throwing around the "N (nuclear) word" after Russian officials criticised the US strikes on Iran and said that a "number of countries" were ready to provide Iran with nuclear warheads. "I guess that's why Putin's 'THE BOSS'," Trump had said.

Bangladesh: Sheikh Hasina, 99 others indicted in 6 cases over housing plot scam
Dhaka, Jul 31 (PTI) Two separate courts in Bangladesh on Thursday framed charges in six cases against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 99 others over irregularities in allocations of plots in a housing project. Of the six cases, Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 Judge Rabiul Alam framed charges in three cases: one against 17 people, including Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana; one against 18 people, including Hasina and Azmina Siddiq; and another against Hasina and Radwan Mujib Siddiq, state-run BSS news agency reported. The court fixed August 13 for starting to record the testimonies in the cases and issued arrest warrants against the accused. Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun framed charges in one case against 12 people, including Hasina; another case against 17 people, including Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy; and a third case against 18 people, including Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, the agency reported. It issued arrest warrants against the accused and set August 11 for recording the testimonies in the cases, the news agency quoted Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) public prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam as saying. The two courts last week had set July 31 for holding a hearing on charge framing in the six cases related to irregularities in the allocation of plots in the Rajuk Purbachal New Town Project. The ACC filed the six cases from January 12-14 this year. The investigation officers filed chargesheets on March 10. Hasina, 77, faces multiple cases in Bangladesh after being ousted on August 5 last year following a mass student-led agitation in the country, which forced her to flee Dhaka.
