TV fans are already calling Emma Thompson's transformative thriller a 'banger'
The new Apple TV+ thriller Down Cemetery Road will be perfect for Slow Horses fans, as it's based on the spy series writer Mick Heron's other series of novels.
Known as the Zöe Boehm thrillers, the new series kicks off with the dramatic explosion of a home in sleepy suburban Oxford, after which a girl mysteriously disappears.
On the case is local resident Sarah Tucker, played by Ruth Wilson, with the enlisted help of private investigator Zoë Boehm, played by many awards winner Thompson, who also executive produces the show.
'The sleuthing pair suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead,' the official synopsis for the show reads.
Apple TV+ released a series of first look images at the stars of the show this week, with Thompson seen with a new spikey white hair cut and thick black eyeliner on to play Boehm.
The show has been written for screen by Morwenna Banks, who has also worked on Slow Horses for the streamer, with author Mick Herron among the executive producers on board.
The eight-part thriller is set to land on Apple TV+ from October 29, with episodes dropping weekly and a two-part debut.
The first look images were met with a delighted response from TV fans, as many praised Apple TV+ for its impressive roster of upcoming shows, with seasons of Slow Horses and The Morning Show returning soon too.
There's also the mysterious new genre-bending show Pluribus coming later this year, from the creator of Breaking Bad Vince Gilligan. More Trending

Liam Neeson takes a cheeky swipe at Pedro Pascal while promoting new film
Liam Neeson couldn't help but take a cheeky swipe at Pedro Pascal's incredibly packed schedule as he promoted the Naked Gun this week. The Taken actor is starring as Frank Drebin Jr in the reboot of the 80s parody, which is released in cinemas today. A new video has made the rounds on social media, showing the 73-year-old popping up at an early screening in New York and sharing a couple of words about his new project. In the clip, posted by entertainment reporter Jonathan Sim, he thanked the audience for coming before urging them to 'please laugh out loud' at any funny moments – of which there are plenty. 'Spoiler alert: there's no zombies, no superheroes, and Pedro Pascal isn't in this movie,' the action favorite added, to chuckles from the audience. His cheeky comments made light of the ongoing joke that Pedro is in every film or TV show at the moment – after he clocked up roles in The Last of Us, Eddington, Materialists and the Fantastic Four in the last few months alone. The internet's new husband is truly taking 'booked and busy' to a whole new level, and shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, he will be appearing in the Mandalorian and Grogu, as well as Avengers: Doomsday, next year. Meanwhile, Liam has a very busy schedule of his own, and has been jetting around the world to promote the Naked Gun – while also remaining coy of rumors of a romance with his co-star, Pamela Anderson. Despite not confirming the speculation, they are said to be 'smitten' with each other and got very close on set, to film the 'strangest' sex scene of their careers. A bizarre montage showed Frank and Beth (Pamela) taking things to the next level during a romantic getaway, with a snowman joining them in the bedroom. Chatting to Metro at the New York premiere, writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand opened up about putting Liam through his paces, revealing the most 'absurd' thing they asked him to do on camera. 'This is a spoiler, but he has a great … very strange love scene that I believe has to be the strangest sex scene of his life,' Dan told us. 'Every day was the strangest thing,' Doug recalled. 'Every scene is like, 'Liam Neeson is doing this?'' The Naked Gun franchise is a hilarious parody of traditional police action dramas, but – without giving too much away – there are a few jokes that may straddle the line, to which Dan quipped: 'We're all about straddling things. More Trending 'You've got to look at that third rail and just touch it … you hope you don't electrocute yourself too bad but you want to get a little bit of a shock,' Doug insisted. 'We tried everything, and we just let the audience tell us,' his writing partner added. 'We would show it to friends, we would show it to test audiences, and if it got the laugh, then we got the laugh. 'Then we felt comfortable that that we landed on something good.' Naked Gun is out in cinemas now. Got a story?
