John Cena Reveals Origin of His Iconic Catchphrase
Although Hulk Hogan and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin helped propel wrestling into a form of media accepted by the mainstream media masses, John Cena has been revolutionary in allowing his persona to shine outside of the squared circle. On numerous occasions, the Undisputed WWE Champion has alluded to the fact that he largely lives his gimmick, so there's always a sense of authenticity in his tone.
For better and worse, Cena is always a bit formulaic in delivery, but with over 60 appearances a year during his prime, how could it not be? Regardless of the match, you know Cena is going to bust out a "five knuckle shuffle" that starts with his infamous "you can't see me" catchphrase, which has sparked endless memes and has adorned the backs of tens of thousands of t-shirts. But how did Cena come up with his legendary saying?

While speaking to a crowd at the Philadelphia Fan Expo, Cena revealed the inspiration behind the internet's favorite motto.

"It was an accident. My brother dared me to do it on television," Cena said. "I was on a Saturday night program called Velocity that nobody watched or cared about, but I personally loved it because that was the only match I could get. He dared me to do it on TV, and I did."
Three years ago, during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon, Cena explained that the motion itself was sparked by hip-hop artist Tony Yayo, who put his hand over his face in the "So Seductive" music video.
Cena will almost whip out his tagline this weekend when he squares off with R-Truth on "Saturday Night's Main Event" at the latest stop on his farewell tour. The show's card is starting to round into form, as it provides a convenient pit stop on the road to "Money in the Bank."

WWE Night Of Champions 2025 Results As Rhea Ripley Topples Raquel Rodriguez
Rhea Ripley continues her long-running feud with The Judgment Day. (Credit: Rich Freeda/WWE via ... More Getty Images) WWE Night of Champions 2025 marked yet another big win for Rhea Ripley. Ripley, arguably the most protected star in WWE's women's division, nearly fell short in her Street Fight against The Judgment Day's Raquel Rodriguez thanks to some interference from Roxanne Perez. But the nearly unbeatable Ripley was able to overcome both Perez and Rodriguez with an avalanche Riptide for the ages. When WWE announced that Ripley vs. Rodriguez would be a Street Fight, that paved the way for a wonky finish that would allow Ripley to take the loss while still looking strong in defeat. Lo and behold, Ripley was still able to avoid a rare loss, instead beating Rodriguez in resounding fashion. WWE Night of Champions 2025 Results for Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez WWE's creative team had a chance to pull off a shocking loss for Ripley at WWE Night of Champions 2025, but Ripley emerged victorious, after all. Rodriguez was unable to capitalize on the outside interference from Perez in her attempt to give Ripley just her third pinfall defeat since May 2022. Instead, Ripley picked up a big win as she looks to regain the momentum she had in early 2025. There were several notable moments in the match, including: Ripley's seemingly never-ending feud with The Judgment Day has gone on for much of the past two years, with Ripley spending most of that time feuding with Liv Morgan. Morgan, however, recently suffered a devastating shoulder injury that has reportedly caused WWE to scrap a number of creative plans, including significant booking directions for the upcoming Evolution II event. WWE Night of Champions 2025 Results: What's Next For Rhea Ripley? Ripley's win at WWE Night of Champions won't necessarily serve as the end of her feud with The Judgment Day. With Morgan injured, Perez is reportedly set to replace Morgan as one half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions during Morgan's absence. Connecting the dots here, Perez is clearly trying to take over Morgan's spot as the commander-in-chief of Judgment Day. That's been going on for months now, and there have been both subtle and obvious signs that this isn't sitting well with Morgan. Prior to her injury, Morgan was reportedly set for a major babyface turn as she continues to soar in popularity thanks to her consistently great performances. Even though Ripley beat Rodriguez at Night of Champions 2025, WWE is clearly laying the groundwork for Morgan to return, form an unlikely alliance with her former rival Ripley and go after Perez, Rodriguez and Judgment Day. That's a potentially intriguing storyline that could get Morgan back to her face roots, unite Morgan and Ripley as a powerhouse duo and ultimately lead to the dismantling of The Judgment Day. Given Morgan's injury that will take some time, but Ripley's WWE Night of Champions win was likely just the start to something really big for Ripley, Morgan and everyone involved.

WWE Night of Champions 2025 live results: Winners, highlights and analysis of matches
USA TODAY and Yahoo may earn commission from links in this article. Pricing and availability subject to change. Championships, opportunities and major stars all await at Night of Champions. WWE returns to Saudi Arabia for Night of Champions, where six matches at Kingdom Arena will set the stage for a fiery summer of wrestling. Six bouts are scheduled but only two titles will be on the line. However, one of those will reignite one of the best feuds in the past 20 years with John Cena defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against CM Punk in the potential final meeting between two icons of the sport. Advertisement Though not necessarily titles, royalty will be crowned in the King and Queen of the Ring tournament finals. Not only will the winners get the prestigious title, but a championship match awaits them in just more than a month. Follow USA TODAY Sports for all the results, highlights and analysis from Night of Champions 2025: Street fight: Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez Ripley is used to being the dominant person in the ring, but it wasn't the case to start this one. Rodriguez was immediately in control, throwing Ripley around in a sight rarely seen. Rodriguez tangled Ripley in the ropes and she brought out the kendo stick to lay some shots right to the midsection of her opponent. There was a brief moment where Ripley had momentum and tried to launch Rodriguez off the announcer's table, but it was countered with Ripley getting sent through the top of the table. Match in progress. King of the Ring final: Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton The mentor and mentee met in the ring to a raucous crowd, getting the energy going before the two could even lock up. There were several pauses as the two got reacquainted with each other as opponents. Advertisement Orton did a suplex off the top rope, but he appeared more hurt by it, immediately grabbing his back. With Orton suddenly hampered, Rhodes targeted Orton's back. Anytime Orton got any offense in, it was met with pain. Blows were exchanged and both stars appeared to be getting close for a victory. Rhodes executed a Cross Rhodes, but the pin didn't work and not long afterward, Orton got the RKO out of nowhere. Then Rhodes was able to kick out. Orton saw Rhodes in position for his punt kick, but the hesitation on whether to do it bought Rhodes some time to get out of the way before the devastating shot. After an exchange of hits, Rhodes tried a Disaster Kick, and got greeted by an RKO in the middle of the air. Orton's pin attempt was unsuccessful. Orton then brought a chair into the ring, and when the referee took it away, Orton exposed one of the top turnbuckles. Orton tried to drive Rhodes' head to it, but he avoided it and instead shoved Orton into it. It clearly hurt Orton's ribs, and with him in pain, Rhodes capitalized with a Cross Rhodes and got the pin to secure the crown. Advertisement After the match, Rhodes was interviewed by Byron Saxton. He gave props to Orton, and Rhodes said he will be waiting for the winner of John Cena vs. CM Punk at SummerSlam, where he will "get the ball back." Analysis: "The American Nightmare" is now royalty. While it would've been nice to see Orton add another accolade, it was clear Rhodes was going to get his title rematch at SummerSlam, All that was needed was a compelling match to make sure it happened. It was far from a classic match, as it had a really slow start and several breaks in the action. But both stars were able to get their signature moves in, and the names and aura alone helped keep the intensity high. How the match ended felt like a significant turn could be happening. Orton has always been one to look for any means of winning, even if it meant playing dirty. Even though he didn't initiate it, Rhodes also did what he had to do by using the turnbuckle to his advantage. It's not egregious, but it showed Rhodes is willing to do anything he can to get back to the top of the company. Little hints of a heel turn are being dropped, and by the time SummerSlam rolls around, we could finally see the end of the baby face and a true "American Nightmare."
