Rock legend, 78, wheeled off stage in coffin during bizarre exit
Gig-goers at London's Alexandra Palace were left baffled as a rock icon's show wrapped up with a huge coffin being wheeled out onto the stage.
A lone arm waved from the black box, prompting laughter from the onlookers as they realised star of the show and music legend, Iggy Pop, was inside.
As the huge coffin faced the front, the shirtless rocker opened the lid and smiled at the crowd shouting 'bye' and basking in the applause.
Posting to his social media the 78-year-old star quipped: 'London was a hoot! How you exit is equally important to how you enter.'
This marked the penultimate show in a handful of UK dates for the Grammy winner's Lust For Life tour, before he heads to Glasgow on June 3.
Iggy kicked off the gig with TV Eye, a song he rose to fame with as a member of The Stooges.
He blasted through over 20 hits before wrapping the show – before his coffin exit – with Funtime.
The legend had previously performed at Manchester's O2 Victoria Warehouse before heading to London.
He's off to In The Meadows festival in Dublin, Ireland, next then to a string of gigs in mainland Europe over the summer.
The American rocker will head back to the States for two July gigs before jetting back over to Denmark, Sweden, Brazil, and Argentina.
Fans were living for his coffin antics in London, with ktorreg writing on X: 'Only iggy … 😉 … may he long reign … 🔊🎶🎸.'
'Punk's not dead 🤘' added post_punk while Ingeastrid said: 'Always that smile…mischievous charmer.'
Off-stage, life is much less rock and roll for Iggy who revealed at Cannes Film Festival he 'likes baths, sometimes with a rubber duck and bubbles'. More Trending
He continued: 'Sometimes I get really upset if it's getting late in the day and I think to myself that I haven't done anything I really like. And music is what gives me pleasure you know, well music and the sea.'
'That's my default setting, so I'm always putting my pleasure first – I can get really desperate to seek pleasure – and when that happens usually it means someone takes me to the beach.'
According to the rocker, about 95% of life is about being 'chill' rather than raising hell, despite what his on-stage persona might suggest.

The series comes second only to the first season of Squid Game in Netflix's global TV rankings, but the upcoming instalment could well steal the top spot. The show follows Wednesday Addams, who enrols at Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts, after being expelled from her previous high school. From reality TV to comedy, thriller and romance, viewers across the genres are getting ready for their favourite shows to return. Fourteen famous faces will be taking on the SAS selection process in this gruelling reality TV show, joined by an elite team of ex-Special Forces soldiers. This year's line-up includes former footballers Adebayo Akinfenwa and Troy Deeney, dancer and reality star Louie Spence, Love Islanders Tasha Ghori, Chloe Burrows and Adam Collard and The Traitors winner Harry Clark to name a few. The pair fell out when stay-at-home mum Sylvia (Byrne) told the now recently divorced Will (Rogan) that she didn't think he should marry his fiancée. As they reconnect, their chaotic friendship begins to consume their lives. The show drew a lot of comparisons to 1989's When Harry Met Sally, but it isn't a rom-com. In fact, it subtly subverts the genre. Season one ended with a time jump, with Will engaged and Sylvia running her own event planning business. In season two, the pair once again grapple with making their co-dependent friendship work, now that Will is in a committed relationship. Where to watch: The first two episodes of Platonic Season 2 land on Apple TV Plus on August 6, followed by one episode weekly until October 1. Big budget reality TV show The Fortune Hotel has been likened to The Traitors for its cat-and-mouse premise. Hosted by Stephen Mangan, the show sees 10 pairs of players presented with 10 suitcases – eight are empty, one contains the £250,000 jackpot, and the other is the dreaded Early Checkout, which signifies that their time on the show is over. The contestants swap cases throughout the show, and must lie and deceive their way to getting hold of the £250,000 jackpot. The Fortune Hotel saw three pairings make it to a nail-biting final last May, and this month it's returning for round two. Metro columnist Adam Miller headed to The Gallivant Hotel in Rye last year to have a go at playing The Fortune Hotel for himself. 'My nerves were shot. After we'd swapped our case with a rival team (who we felt had become visibly more nervous after the cocktail challenge), we were pretty confident we were holding the prize money. 'But so did everyone else. The next team pinched our case from us immediately and we were stuck with theirs, which, to my horror, felt noticeably lighter than the case we'd been clinging onto all day. Surely that could only mean one thing – we had the check-out card. 'After being a faux reality TV contestant for a matter of hours, I have a newfound respect for anyone brave enough to play these games for real and not buckle.' We've had eight seasons of unorthodox dating show Love is Blind already, and last year a new UK version took to screens for the first time, hosted by Emma and Matt Willis. This month, the experiment (which sees couples get engaged before meeting in person) is returning. Following the couples over several weeks, the show sees them move in together, plan their wedding, and find out if their physical connection is as strong as the emotional one they had already developed. Season one was full of the usual drama, with three couples saying 'I do' (one of which recently announced their pregnancy) and another three deciding to walk away. Where to watch: Episodes one to four of Love is Blind UK Season 2 land on Netflix on August 13, followed by episodes five to eight on August 20 and episodes nine to 10 on August 27. Following his cameo in the recent Superman movie, which has soared at the box office this summer, John Cena is back as Chris Smith, aka Peacemaker, a vigilante who fights for peace at any cost. Originally a spin-off of The Suicide Squad film, which was released in 2021 to rave reviews, Peacemaker Season 2 will follow the vigilante hero as he discovers a parallel world where he can live out the life of his dreams — but it means he must confront his traumatic past. The show has been a hit wth TV fans, earning an impressive 93% Rotten Tomatoes score and praised by critics for its wild action scenes, clever twists and humour. Meanwhile, audiences have called it 'compelling', a 'joyride' and 'pure comic-book mayhem'. Where to watch: Peacemaker Season 2 lands on Sky Max and NOW in the UK and HBO Max in the US on August 21, with episodes airing weekly until October 9. It's been an almost two-year wait for the second season of this teen romance drama, which has been compared to Prime Video hit The Summer I Turned Pretty and Netflix comedy Never Have I Ever. If you like love triangles and will-they-won't-they romance, this one's worth checking out. Season one saw 15-year-old Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) move from New York to rural Colorado after losing her family in a tragic accident. More Trending There, she meets the two Walter brothers, Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry) — and you can probably take a good guess at some of the teenage drama that ensues. After heading back to New York over the summer, season two sees Jackie return to Colorado with a big decision to make. My Life With the Walter Boys has a disappointing 42% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers criticising its 'generic storylines', but audiences were much more enthused, awarding it a 71% score and hailing the series as 'wholesome' and 'very bingeable'. Fubar, which the former professional bodybuilder, 78, starred in alongside Monica Barbaro, was his first foray into television. According to Deadline, the cancellation of the show was due to a drop in viewership after its June season two premiere. The first season of Fubar debuted in May 2023 and saw a whopping 11 million views, while the second series had only 2.2 million in the same weekend time frame. Schwarzenegger announced that he would be starring in Fubar in 2021, sharing: 'Fans from all over the world have been asking me for a wild ride like this for years, and now they're finally going to get it because of our great partners at Skydance and Netflix. Fubar also starred Milan Carter, Gabriel Luna, Travis Van Winkle, and Jay Baruchel among others. In addition to creator, Nick Santora was showrunner and executive producer, alongside Schwarzenegger. The second season had been hotly anticipated by fans, but viewers were worried the show could be on the chopping block — with many admitting it was a less-than-stellar return. @firdaus_sheik took to X to describe the season as a 'tough watch' while @SaidWhatWeSaid wrote: 'Season 2 of FUBAR was full of action and found family but felt underwhelming in prioritising messy love triangles over character growth.' @rbaccari9 feared the show would get cancelled 'before it gets a deserved final season', writing: '[Netflix] keep increasing prices and refusing to give shows that people love a last season. I am going to FINALLY cancel Netflix if Fubar doesn't get a 3rd season.' The acting is horrible, the direction is awful, the story is ridiculous and the dialogue dreadful. The premise is stupid and then it went downhill from there. There were times I literally cringed.' Harry denies he left Prince Andrew with a 'bloody nose' in family gathering spat
Prince Harry has denied exchanging punches with Prince Andrew in a spat between the two royals. A new book claimed the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of York became embroiled in an argument during a family gathering in 2013. The confrontation was said to have been triggered by something said by Andrew 'behind Harry's back'. Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York by Andrew Lownie claims Harry left his uncle with 'a bloody nose' in the dispute. The new book also separately alleges the Duke of York predicted that Harry's marriage to Meghan Markle would 'not last more than a month'. However a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex denied the pair had ever had a physical altercation or that Andrew had made such comments about the Duchess of Sussex. Andrew stepped back as a full time royal after his car crash interview on Newsnight in 2019 in which he was quizzed about his relationship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. His reputation was further battered by claims from Virginia Giuffre that she had been forced to have sex with the duke as a teenager – claims Andrew denies. Lownie's book claims there have been frictions between Andrew and Harry for years, with the latter even allegedly telling his brother, the Prince of Wales, he 'hated' the Duke of York. Andrew, who attacked Harry for failing to carry out 'due diligence' on his wife before their wedding in 2018,is also said to have made rude remarks about the Princess of Wales. The frosty relations between royals come as Andrew faces an uncertain future at the Royal Lodge at Windsor Great Park since his estimated £1million allowance was stopped by the King. In his biography of Andrew, Lownie suggests William has 'long worked behind the scenes' to remove the Duke of York from the estate, where he believes he has abused 'his privilege', the Telegraph reported. The book claims to shine a light on Andrew's behaviour towards longstanding royal servants. He is said to have branded David Anderson, the former manager of Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland, a 'f***ing imbecile' for not referring to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, by her full title. More Trending Anderson was informing Andrew that a severe storm had wrecked damaged on the royal residence, including to a tree planted by the Queen Mother. After Anderson said he had worked for the royal household since 1984, Andrew allegedly said patronisingly: 'And you still don't know the proper way to refer to my grandmother? You f***ing imbecile. Get out.' Colin Burgess, a former esquerry to Queen Elizabeth II, said that Andrew, in contrast to other senior royals, spoke to staff 'as an officer talks to his subordinates'.
