At this moment, fans just need the slightest of hints from any way possible to speculate a new theory about GTA 6, and the recent rumor about a dedicated companion app is just the latest addition to that.
Since GTA 6 Trailer 2 dropped, there has been nothing but new theories and speculations everyday as fans are leaving no opportunity to entice the game. For example: fans were seen building the same house as Jason's in various other games, on the other hand, many fans found uncanny resemblance with GTA: Vice City.
GTA 6 rumored to feature a companion app
The trend of companion apps is slowly fading day by day. Not only does it keep a note of all your in-game possessions, like cosmetics, stats, quests, and more, it also gives an enhanced experience outside the game itself.
Many major franchises feature this aspect like Destiny 2, Call of Duty, and many more. Now it seems GTA 6 will be following the same path as well.
This round of speculation began when Rockstar North posted a job listing on its website seeking employees for the role of Mobile Engineer. According to the listing, the role demands the understanding of iOS and Android app development to maintain Rockstar's mobile platform.

There are companion apps for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, and official mobile ports of various Rockstar titles like GTA: San Andreas, Max Payne, Bully, and many more. But none of them needs any sudden update.
So, the job listing for a mobile app developer points straight towards a potential GTA 6 companion app. And as we are less than a year away from the launch of this highly anticipated title, this speculation finds a more solid base.
However, nothing is official and Rockstar is yet to announce if there will be any companion app for the game. But having a dedicated companion app with enhanced features than the contemporaries would be actually great.
Players will be able to stay connected with the game even when they are not on their main system by picking virtual calls and messages from the NPCs through the app. Or maybe players will be able to sync their music library via this app to listen to their favorite song in the
rumored Spotify-like music streaming service in the game

Old Call of Duty titles get cryptic updates

Image via Activision Out of nowhere, 10 Call of Duty titles including classic ones like the OG Modern Warfare 2, 3, Black Ops, and many have just gone through sudden server maintenance. This is actually quite cryptic and unexpected, keeping in mind those classic titles are over a decade old. Despite shifting to a live-service model, with highly enhanced real life-like visuals and gameplay in the modern titles, there is no doubt that those OG Call of Duty titles, spanning from COD 4: Modern Warfare to Black Ops II, definitely belong to the golden period of this long-hailed franchise. But why are these updates? Is Activision cooking something? Why are OG Call of Duty titles getting mysterious updates out of nowhere? The official Twitter handle of Call of Duty Updates has recently announced that 10 of the COD titles would go through a server maintenance downtime on July 2, between 3 AM - 7 AM PT. It was quite normal for the modern day CoD titles, but everyone's eye stuck on to the older gen titles, which weren't supposed to get any update at all. Here are all the titles which has gone through the server maintenance: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Call of Duty: World War II Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Call of Duty: Ghosts Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Call of Duty: Black Ops Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 The oldest one in this list, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released in 2009. So, who would have thought that a 16-year old title, which Activision stopped supporting long ago, is getting an update after so many years? Along with it, BO, MW3, BO2, Ghosts, Advanced Warfare and many more - all were fairly pretty old titles. So, what is the reason behind this sudden update? This sudden update didn't take long to stir huge speculations among the fans. Many of them claimed that this update might finally solve the cheating and hacking issues on the servers of older CoD titles by implementing anti-cheat measures. In multiplayer modes of MW2, MW3, BO, BO2, the whole server is possessed by hackers and it will be a big deal to find a single lobby without the hackers. On the other hand, some fans think this update is all about bringing more titles into the Xbox Game Pass. As of now, only Black Ops 6, Warzone, and Modern Warfare III is available on this subscription service. So, this server maintenance might be a trick to pull the newer generation of fans towards the golden generation of Call of Duty.
