Brad Pitt Makes Bold Legal Move Against Ex-Wife Angelina Jolie As Battle Over French Winery Rages On

Yahoo4 days ago
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's feud over their French winery, Château Miraval, is far from over.
Despite the former couple recently finalizing their divorce, they remain embroiled in a heated legal battle over the winery, in which Jolie sold her stake back in 2021, allegedly without Pitt's consent.
Brad Pitt is now seeking to depose his "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" co-star's company, Nouvel LLC, through which the sale of her stake was made.
Reports have emerged revealing that Brad Pitt wants to depose Angelina Jolie's company, Nouvel LLC, in their long-running feud over the French winery they once co-owned.
The former couple purchased the estate in 2011 for around $60 million and continued to co-own it even after their split in 2016. However, in 2021, Jolie sold her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group, prompting Pitt to file a lawsuit in which he claimed the sale was made without his approval, as required by their agreement.
Now, according to The U.S. Sun, Pitt has asked a court to compel Nouvel LLC to sit for a deposition regarding their initial investment in the winery.
He is also demanding the same from another party, Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group to whom Jolie sold her stake.
Additionally, the actor wants information on their "subsequent financial contributions to the home and winery at the heart of this dispute."
Elsewhere in the filing for the deposition, Pitt also accused his ex-wife of selling her stake in the winery in an underhanded manner to the group that ultimately purchased it, despite being in negotiations with him over the same stake.
"On March 30, 2021, a lawyer for Stoli Group contacted Jolie's California-based divorce lawyer to inquire whether she would be interested in selling her stake in Miraval, Brad alleged in one recent filing," the filing revealed.
"Throughout May 2021, while Jolie was still purporting to negotiate with Pitt and Mark Perrin [Brad's partner in Miraval], Stoli and Jolie continued to negotiate in secret."
During the course of these behind-the-scenes negotiations, Jolie's "transactional counsel" allegedly provided "detailed feedback" to Stoli and its negotiators. This information, seemingly taken from discussions with Pitt, included "what it would take for Stoli to beat Pitt's offer."
According to the filing, Jolie and Stoli Group eventually agreed on a price of around $65 million, which was kept secret from Pitt, thereby denying him the opportunity to match or exceed the offer.
In December 2024, Pitt and Jolie settled their divorce, a legal battle that had lasted more than eight years.
Shortly after, Jolie released a statement via her lawyer, James Simon, in which she expressed relief over finalizing her split.
"More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over," the attorney said in a statement, per CNN.
For now, the financial details of the split remain unclear, as they were not disclosed. Additionally, information about the former couple's custody arrangement for their two minor children has not been released, though it is believed that Jolie has primary custody most of the time.
Unlike Jolie's expression of relief, Pitt said that finalizing his divorce wasn't a big deal to him, just something that was bound to happen eventually.
"No, I don't think it was that major of a thing," the father of six told GQ Magazine. "Just something coming to fruition. Legally."
Weeks later, he opened up about making mistakes in his life during an interview at the premiere of his adrenaline-fueled car action film, "F1."
"No matter the mistake, you know, you just learn from [it] and move on," the actor told Entertainment Tonight. "It'll lead to the next success."
While Pitt gave no details about whether he was partly referring to his failed marriage while talking about his past mistakes, the actor hinted that family was also part of what has helped him navigate these moments.
"At my age, I see how important it is to surround yourself with the people you know, the people you love, the people that love you back," the 61-year-old shared further.
He added, "Friends, family, and that's it. From there, we get to go make things. It's a pretty simple, I think, equation."

Lupita Nyong'o, Francesca Hayward Lead Star-Studded Cast for Chanel Connects Season 5 (EXCLUSIVE)

Academy Award-winning actor Lupita Nyong'o headlines the fifth season of Chanel Connects, the luxury house's flagship arts and culture podcast, alongside Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward and artist Allison Katz. The new season, which launchs July 16 on Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Podcasts, explores themes of home through intimate conversations recorded at La Pausa, Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel's newly restored French Riviera villa that once hosted 20th century luminaries including Salvador Dalí, Jean Cocteau, and Misia Sert. More from Variety Tribeca Festival and Chanel Announce 2025 Artist Awards Program Participants CalArts, Chanel Launch Center for Artists and Tech With AI Focus Tilda Swinton, Apichatpong Weerasethakul Join Forces for Chanel's Asian Cinema Initiatives 'Gabrielle Chanel's villa, La Pausa, was a home of extraordinary creativity, where ideas evolved naturally among the olive groves and lavender. It's a perfect setting for the fifth season of Chanel Connects, which was recorded within the very rooms where Salvador Dali created 11 paintings, Misia Sert triumphed on the piano, and Jean Cocteau crafted his poetry,' said Yana Peel, president of arts, culture and heritage at Chanel. 'This season, we hear from today's creative pioneers. Through a series of conversations, they discuss what's new and next in culture.' Nyong'o, who serves as a Chanel House ambassador, opens the season in conversation with philosopher Emanuele Coccia, author of 'Philosophy of the Home,' exploring how concepts of home have evolved in the digital age. The Oscar winner, who has lived in Kenya, Mexico, and the U.S., reflects on her relationship to place: 'I've adapted and grown with the places I've called home.' She also shares her perspective on storytelling's power, noting that 'stories have the power to be a momentary home.' Episode two pairs Hayward with artist Allison Katz, whose work is held in collections including London's Tate Modern and Los Angeles' Hammer Museum. The duo discusses parallels between dance and painting, with Hayward offering her take on technology's role in performance: 'In a world of AI, you can't replace real life performance.' Katz, meanwhile, speaks to artistic risk-taking: 'It's important to risk my own story to get at something that goes beyond it.' The season continues with New Yorker writer Lauren Collins joining performance art duo Gerard & Kelly to explore dance language and the legacy of Americans on the French Riviera. Gerard & Kelly reflect on artistic evolution, suggesting that 'maybe that's how art moves forward, in the blind spots,' while Collins observes that 'somehow we always tell our own story through our work.' Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco, who is also a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, connects with Paris-based artist Matthew Lutz-Kinoy in episode four. The conversation centers on creative ecology, with both artists drawing from their French surroundings while maintaining connections to their respective Argentine and international backgrounds. The season concludes with American artist Adam Pendleton in conversation with Peel herself, examining how technology will shape art's future. Pendleton, whose work was recently acquired by MoMA and featured at the Hirshhorn, also discusses his passion project preserving Nina Simone's childhood home. Chanel Connects is produced as part of the Chanel Culture Fund, which supports a network of creators and innovators through various programs including Art Partners, the Chanel Next Prize, and partnerships with institutions from CalArts to the Venice Biennale. The podcast amplifies voices across disciplines and generations, tackling contemporary cultural issues while honoring Chanel's century-long commitment to the arts. Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet sweetly hold hands while vacationing in the South of France

No French kissing here! Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet were seen innocently holding hands while traipsing through the South of France Saturday. The couple looked loved up as they went for a stroll at Shellona Beach in Saint-Tropez while surrounded by friends and a team of security guards. The Khy founder, 27, looked elegant in a vintage black-and-white striped mini dress by Jean Paul Gaultier and skinny black sunglasses. She also carried a black clutch purse under one arm and completed the look with delicate gold jewelry and black sandals. Meanwhile, Chalamet, 29, sported a green-and-white Nigeria soccer jersey. He attempted to keep his face hidden by wearing a blue Nike cap layered under a green bandana tied at his chin. Photographers caught the 'Dune' star and his girlfriend smiling flirtatiously at each other as they walked hand-in-hand. The lovebirds were also joined by Kylie's sister Kendall Jenner, who sported a little black dress, a gray scarf and casual black flip-flops. Kylie and Kendall have been vacationing in Europe for weeks now, touching down in Venice, Italy, for Jeff Bezos' $50 million wedding to Lauren Sánchez in late June. The sisters were joined by their mom, Kris Jenner, as well as older siblings Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian for the days-long wedding festivities. Chalamet notably did not attend the nuptials as Kylie's plus one. After the Amazon billionaire and Sánchez said 'I do,' Kylie and Kendall retreated to a stunning Tuscan villa with the makeup mogul's two kids: Stormi, 7, and Aire, 3. Kylie flaunted her curves in a leopard-print bikini while relaxing with some wine and cherries. From there, Kylie, Kendall and their entourage of besties — including Stassie Karanikolaou and Victoria Villarroel — were seen partying at ultra-exclusive Loulou's beach club in St. Tropez. The gaggle of gals took a dip in the clear blue Mediterranean Sea. At one point during their getaway, Kendall was also seen ripping a shot of her 818 Tequila while balancing a $75,000 limited-edition Hermès Kelly Doll bag on her head. It's no surprise Chalamet eventually ended up tagging along on Kylie's girls' trip as they have recently taken their relationship to the next level. Last week, Page Six confirmed that Kylie officially followed Chalamet's Instagram account after two years of dating. The duo started secretly seeing each other in 2023 and didn't publicly confirm their love until five months later when they attended Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour concert together. From there, Kylie became a staple at Chalamet's awards show events, but they waited to make their red carpet debut until May at the David di Donatello Awards in Rome. Kylie shares her two kids with ex-partner Travis Scott, while Chalamet has previously been romantically linked to Lourdes Leon, Lily-Rose Depp and Eiza González.
