The video post was accompanied by a statement detailing that the war with Russia did not stop the aircraft's modernization, which had started before President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion. The ANTONOV Airlines post reads: "Modernized AN-124-100 Ruslan aircraft successfully relocated from Ukraine to Germany."
"ANTONOV has completed a complex multi-year project to deeply modernize one of its legendary transport aircraft An-124-100. On July 11, 2025, Ruslan was safely moved to Germany. This aircraft, manufactured in 1994, has over 21,000 flight hours and over 5,500 flights. Work on its deeply modernized aircraft began in 2021. The goal of the modernization, carried out by the JSC ANTONOV team, is to replace the main components that were manufactured in russia with modern components of Western and Ukrainian production."
"Due to the full-scale aggression of Russia in 2022, the work was partially suspended: at that time the aircraft was in a disassembled state. However, even in the most difficult conditions of the war, the team of JSC "ANTONOV" was able to resume work and complete the modernization in June 2025. The relocation of "Ruslan" became not just a technical solution, but a symbol of the stability, professionalism and unity of Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers. The improved "Ruslan" will continue to fly and serve Ukraine on the international route. Currently, the aircraft fleet of JSC "ANTONOV" is in safe conditions, in accordance with internal safety protocols," the statement added.
The An-124 100 Ruslan with tail number UR-82073 had the words "Be brave like Irpin" painted on its fuselage. The reference was to the brutal battle between Ukrainian forces and Russian units along Irpin River in the early days which finally resulted in the latter failing in their push to take over Kiev.

As soon as the Ruslan was spotted over Kiev on July 11, it created a huge buzz as the Russian invasion had ensured that only military airplanes apart from a few government and recuse flights were operating in the region. Russian forces had already destroyed the Hostemel Airport near Kiev in the initial days of the war as well as the An-225 Mriya, the world's biggest aircraft at that time.
But the aircraft which fled to Germany survived the attacks as it was moved to Antonov's repair facility in Kiev.
An-124 aircraft have been used by Ukraine, the United States of America and several western nations for military cargo. They have also helped in carrying western weapon systems from NATO countries to Ukraine to fight off the Russian invasion.
Manufactured in Ukraine, the An-124s have been a source of pride although they have used many Russian systems. But as explained by ANTONOV, the Ruslan has been modernized using western and Ukrainian components.

Along with the new terminal of Thoothukudi airport and the extended runway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (July 26, 2025) launched a few more completed projects on an outlay of ₹4,900 crore in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Since the Airports Authority of India wants to increase the number of passengers using Thoothukudi Airport to 20 lakh per annum in the next five to ten years and to increase Thoothukudi's air connectivity manifold by introducing flights to various parts of the country and abroad, the 17,340 square meter new terminal in Chettinad- style architecture has been created. The 1,350-meter-long runway has been extended to 3,115 meters with a night landing facility for handling wide-bodied aircraft, like A320s and A321s. Moreover, to ensure the hassle-free handling of the passengers, 21 check-in counters, 7 baggage scanners, 3 aerobridges, 644 seats, a feeding room for mothers, isolation areas, 5 aircraft parking bays, fully equipped fire station have been completed. After the expansion, the Thoothukudi airport can handle up to 1,400 passengers per hour, which stood at just 156 earlier, officials said. Another important project inaugurated by Mr. Modi on Saturday (July 26, 2025) was the 306-meter-long north cargo berthing facility with 14.20 metre draft at the cost of ₹285 crores at the VOC Port, Thoothukudi, which can handle larger vessels carrying coal, copper concentrate, limestone, gypsum and rock phosphate. This new berth is likely to create 300 direct employment and 500 indirect jobs. As of now, the all-weather VOC Port handles containers, coal, limestone, windmill turbine blades, fertilizer, edible oil, construction materials, timber, machinery, etc. The 4-lane Sethiyathoppu – Chozhapuram 50 km stretch has been completed at the cost of ₹2,357 crore, and the 4-lane road connecting the VOC Port, Thoothukudi, has been upgraded into a 6-lane at the cost of ₹200 crores to ensure the hassle-free movement of heavy trucks carrying containers, logs and bulk cargo like coal and fertilizers. The double railway track in Nagercoil Town – Nagercoil Junction – Kanniyakumari, Aralvaimozhi – Nagercoil Junction and Tirunelveli – Melapalayam sections were also dedicated to the nation on the occasion. The much-awaited Madurai – Bodi railway track electrification, which was taken up after this section was converted into broad gauge after decades of waiting, was also dedicated to the nation. All these rail projects have been completed on an outlay of ₹1,032 crores. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the ₹548 crore interstate transmission system to evacuate the 2,000 MW power to be generated by VVER reactors 3 and 4 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, being built with Russian assistance.

Sanctions risk: Indian firm defends explosive shipment to Russia; says material for civilian use only

"We have repeatedly made clear to all our partners, including India, that any foreign company or financial institution that does business with Russia's military industrial base are at risk of US sanctions," a spokesperson was quoted as saying by Reuters. India's foreign ministry, however, responded that all dual-use exports are regulated under a robust legal framework. 'India has been carrying out exports of dual-use items taking into account its international obligations on non-proliferation,' the ministry said. According to Reuters, HMX is also used in limited civilian areas such as mining and industrial blasting. HTIS, one of the recipients, claims to manufacture explosives for mining and engineering projects. HTIS is listed as a subsidiary of Madrid-based Maxam, which is controlled by US private equity firm Rhone Capital. Maxam is reportedly in the process of divesting its Russian subsidiaries. While India has deepened ties with Washington in recent years, its historic defense and trade relationship with Moscow remains intact.
