Ruru Madrid signs off as Lolong as series wraps up filming: ‘What a journey'

GMA Network09-06-2025
Ruru Madrid signed off as his title character as 'Lolong: Ang Pangil ng Maynila' has wrapped up taping.
On Instagram, the Sparkle star shared some snaps taken from the set of 'Lolong' along with a heartfelt reflection on his role.
'Kagabi, natapos na ang huling taping day ng Lolong. Hanggang ngayon, may sepanx pa rin. What a journey,' he wrote.
According to Ruru, playing the role of Lolong was never easy because it comes with some sacrifice.
'Dumaan kami sa matitinding pagsubok, lalo na nung hindi ako makagalaw dahil sa injury. Kailangan naming baguhin ang takbo ng kwento. Pero hindi tumigil ang laban. Hindi bumitaw ang bawat isa. Lahat nag-step up, nagkaisa, at piniling lumaban para sa isa't isa,' he said.
'Pinilit kong bumangon at magtrabaho kahit may iniinda, dahil alam kong kailangan nila ako—at kailangan namin ang isa't isa.
Ruru expressed his gratitude to everyone who was part of "Lolong," saying that the show taught him invaluable lessons both as an actor and as a person that he will carry with him moving forward.
'I'm beyond grateful na muling bigyang-buhay ang karakter ni Lolong. Isang bihirang pagkakataon na maipagpatuloy ang kwento ng isang karakter na sobra kong minahal. To revisit his story, wear his skin again, and fight his battles—what a blessing,' he said.
The Kapuso star also thanked GMA Network for believing in him as well as for the opportunity to bring back Lolong for the second time.
'Sobrang laking bagay nito para sa akin. Hindi ko ito kailanman kakalimutan. Salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta at sumama sa paglalakbay namin,' Ruru wrote.
As 'Lolong' comes to an end, Ruru expressed his hope that viewers will stay with them until the final episode, as the show is especially dedicated to them and to every heart that continues to fight.
'Hindi dito nagtatapos ang Lolong—dahil ang tunay na bayani, hindi kailanman nawawala,' he said.
In a previous interview, Ruru said that the "Lolong" series gave him courage and changed him not just as an artist but as a human being.
The Kapuso Primetime Action hero first played the title character in 2022 when "Lolong" Season 1 premiered.
In "Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila," Lolong (Ruru) moves to Manila for a fresh start after losing his powers. There, he encounters action-packed adventures and challenges.
The series airs Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras" on GMA Prime.

Will Ashley, Charlie Fleming, Esnyr recreate Mika Salamanca's viral 'Sino Nga Ba Siya' clip

After Mika Salamanca emerged as the first Kapuso big winner of "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition," old videos from her childhood resurfaced on social media and offered a nostalgic glimpse into the Mika we know today. Among those videos that are going viral is a hilarious clip of a young Mika singing to Sarah Geronimo's "Sino Nga Ba Siya." Clad in her PE uniform, the Sparkle star is seen running before accidentally tripping and falling flat on the ground. Undeterred, she bursts into tears—then starts singing the song, creating a moment that's equal parts funny and endearing. With the clip going viral, netizens have jumped on the trend—sharing their own hilarious takes using the audio. Even Mika's fellow housemates Charlie Fleming, Will Ashley, and Esnyr didn't miss out on the fun, joining in with their own playful renditions. On TikTok, Charlie joined the trend with her own spin—filming her version along the shores of Boracay. After running playfully through the sand, she collapsed beneath a coconut tree by the water, perfectly lip-syncing to Mika's now-iconic audio. "Pasado na po bah?" Charlie wrote in the caption and tagged Mika. Her entry earned an applaud by Mika herself, who wrote: "Ay at talagang sumali ka pa. 10/10 sa 'kin 'yan kase upgraded sa white sand," in the comment section. Meanwhile, Will took on the trend in a parking lot—sprinting across the pavement and even throwing himself to the ground as he dramatically dubbed Mika's lines. "Grabe," Will said in the caption, tagging Mika. As for Esnyr, he put his signature twist on the trend—bringing his trademark humor and energy, with fellow housemate Bianca De Vera making a fun cameo in the video. The short skit begins with Bianca and Esnyr laughing inside a moving car. In a playful moment, Bianca pushes Esnyr to the side, prompting him to yell "Aray!" before breaking into an impromptu a cappella version of the song. He then pans the camera to Bianca, who delivers her own hilarious rendition, adding to the fun. And of course, Mika herself joined in on the fun—sharing a fresh take on the viral video that started it all. In the video she shared, Mika just walked out from an elevator and squatted on the floor as she sang the song in acapella. As the song reached its climax, Mika stood up and belted the song's chorus showing her pure, raw and unadulterated voice. "'Wag n'yo na akong i-tag, salamat. Chereng!" Mika wrote in the caption. Mika and her duo Brent Manalo won "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition." As she returned to the outside world, Mika said that she wants to pursue music. Charlie Fleming goes to Boracay for the first time: 'From PBB to Bora'

Charlie Fleming is taking her well-deserved vacation in one of the most picturesque islands in the Philippines: Boracay. On Instagram, the "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" alum shared her portraits with the backdrop of the iconic Boracay beach. "Meet me by the beach," Charlie wrote in the caption. "From 'PBB' to Bora y'all!" During her stint inside Bahay ni Kuya, the Sparkle star previously opened up to Kira Balinger about being unable to go to Boracay for leisure because of financial constraints. "We're not rich, babe. That is so expensive," Charlie told Kira. "Someday, for sure," she added. Charlie and her final duo Esnyr (CharEs) were hailed as the third big placers of the season with the pair of Brent Manalo and Mika Salamanca (BreKa) winning the big winner title. —Hermes Joy Tunac/MGP, GMA Integrated News
