Practitioner-grade hair loss pills are 55p-a-day as hairdressers 'can't believe' results
Dr Vegan's Hair Saviour is a plant-based supplement backed by science, combining 14 key ingredients intended to promote stronger, healthier hair. Developed by nutritionists, the capsules contain clinically studied ingredients such as MSM, Biotin, Saw Palmetto, Zinc, Selenium, Silica and the standout component, AnaGain.
Derived from pea sprouts, AnaGain contains phytonutrients, which have been shown to support hair growth and contribute to fuller, thicker hair. A clinical study of this ingredient demonstrated a 78% increase in the ratio of healthy hair follicles over a three-month period.
The twice-daily capsules, suitable for both men and women, also aim to enhance scalp health and root vitality, making them an excellent all-round solution. The formula is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and devoid of synthetic additives, making it ideal for those wishing to nourish their hair without consuming unnecessary substances. However, it's worth noting that individuals with underlying health conditions should seek professional advice before use, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Alternatively, Hairburst (from £22.99), a UK supplement company, targets hair growth and strength with a formula that includes collagen and biotin. On to an Aussie brand, JSHealth Hair + Energy is £24.99 for a month's supply, and boasts kelp, iodine, and zinc as its powerhouse ingredients.
Dr Vegan claims users often witness a boost in hair thickness, less shedding, and fresh growth within 8 to 12 weeks after starting with their supplements. Numerous reviewers have noticed positive changes much earlier. A user called Lisa remarked: "I've only been taking it for five weeks and I can see a difference already. My hair is in much better condition, my nails have grown, my eyebrows have grown as have my eyelashes. I am so impressed."
User Emma shared her journey from chemically damaged locks to rejuvenated tresses, saying her hair is now "soft, shiny" once more. She continues: "I had a hair disaster in 2020/21 when I decided to go blonde and I never thought I would ever get my hair back to a good condition. I started Hair Saviour at the end of January and within a month my hair felt different.
"Soft, shiny hair was making a return, my hairdresser couldn't believe how much it had grown between appointments. I am so thrilled to have healthy, happy hair again and at 53 years old."
Both men and women have been experiencing positive changes using a new product, with James sharing his success story: "I was a bit sceptical at the start, but after three months, I really noticed an improvement in thickness and general appearance. Have been taking it for well over a year now and would definitely recommend."
Some users haven't found the product to be as effective, like one who has not seen significant changes despite extended use: "I've been using this product for well over six months now and to be honest I really can't see any improvement in the volume or thickness of my hair. Saying that my hairdresser has noticed a difference? But my hair still looks the same to me. I still have it coloured and perhaps this doesn't help. I'll continue to use it until the end of the year and if I still feel the same."
For Rebecca, who suffers from autoimmune-related hair thinning, the results have been quite encouraging: "I have taken Hair Saviour for a month now and my hair is already feeling smoother, sleeker, less frizzy and I can go much longer between washes without it getting greasy. With autoimmune illnesses and related meds, my hair is usually fine, brittle and falling out - genuinely feel this isn't the case anymore. Can't praise it enough."
The cost of Dr Vegan's product is typically £25.99 for a month's supply when consuming two capsules daily, which could be taken together or separately across various times. Right now, customers have access to a promotional discount—by applying the code SAVIOUR25 at checkout, they are entitled to a 25% reduction, making the price £19.50 or around 65p per day. A three-month supply is recommended for optimal results, which is currently discounted to £52.50 from £69.99 with the code, averaging at 58p per day.
However, the most cost-effective option is the rolling subscription, which offers an additional 15% saving, with the first month costing £16.57, or 55p a day. Supplements aren't the only answer to hair loss, as topical treatments also aimed at combating hair loss and thinning are readily available on the high street. The Philip Kingsley Density Hair and Scalp Preserving Collection, valued at £80, is now reduced to £57.60 at LookFantastic.
It includes scalp drops and a scalp foam containing organic pea sprout extract, similar to Dr Vegan, designed to visibly thicken strands and add a glossy shine. Alternatively, Hair + Me - the sister brand to Skin + Me - offers The Drops for hair growth, available on subscription from £14.99 instead of £34.99. These are claimed to 'reverse loss', 'stop thinning' and 'restore density'.
For those in search of a plant-based addition to their hair care regimen, Dr Vegan's Hair Saviour might just live up to its name.

East Kilbride business wins NHS Scotland contract for 'life-changing' stoma care product
The discrete and easy-to-use stoma bag accompaniment is designed to contain leakage and reduce worry and discomfort. A vital NHS Scotland contract has been secured by a Lanarkshire business for its 'life-changing' stoma bag product. Confidence Plus was founded in East Kilbride in 2019 by Anne Inch and Lisa Crombie, who created ConfiPlus Stoma Pockets, with support from Business Gateway. The discrete and easy-to-use stoma bag accompaniment is designed to contain leakage and reduce worry and discomfort. Suitable for use with most stoma bags, the product helps minimise both the physical and mental impact of stoma care. By improving comfort, security and dignity, ConfiPlus Stoma Pockets empower users to regain their independence and enjoy greater freedom in everyday life. Download the Lanarkshire Live app today The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now. Get all the news from your area – as well as features, entertainment, sport and the latest on Lanarkshire's recovery from the coronavirus pandemic – straight to your fingertips, 24/7. The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you. Head to the App Store and never miss a beat in Lanarkshire - iOS - Android The product was created by ostomate (a person who has undergone ostomy surgery), Anne Inch, for her late husband Iain, who had an Ileostomy (the surgical procedure that creates a stoma) and suffered from constant leakage during frequent stays in the hospital. Anne wanted to find a new way to contain leakage and reduce the impact of the stoma. The first version was made on her sewing machine and she then went on to make more for other patients in her husband's ward after being encouraged by the nurses who saw the impact it had on Iain. The product first went on sale in the UK in December 2020 and are now made by a medical device manufacturer in Britain, and the team has had support from the Medical Device Manufacturing Centre working in partnership Heriot Watt University and the University of Dundee. At an early stage in 2019, Anne contacted her former colleague Lisa to ask about getting involved when she started Confidence Plus and Lisa was happy to support. They've been working together to build the business since then. With just 48 hours to prepare a high-stakes NHS Scotland tender for Stoma Supplies, Lisa turned to Business Gateway for urgent support. Adviser Debbie Dawkins provided intensive one-to-one guidance and quickly introduced the team to a procurement expert. A two-hour procurement session with consultant Judith Stewart helped improve the bid and ensure it met the robust NHS procurement standards. Lisa Crombie, co-founder of Confidence Plus Ltd, said: 'When I say I couldn't have done this without Debbie's help, I mean it. She went above and beyond, and we're so grateful for her support and the introductions she made to Judith and Zoe. "After speaking with Judith, I realised how far off the mark we were. Without her guidance, our tender simply wouldn't have met NHS Scotland's requirements. This success has been game-changing, not just for the business, but for the people we aim to support through ConfiPlus.' To comply with strict sustainability requirements, Anne and Lisa also accessed three days of Net Zero consultancy support through Business Gateway and developed a Carbon Management Plan, Environmental Policy and Carbon Management Policy demonstrating Confidence Plus's commitment to sustainability and responsible innovation. ConfiPlus won the NHS Scotland contract, bringing the product one step closer to helping thousands of stoma users across the UK. With continued support from Business Gateway and other partners, Confidence Plus is now exploring further opportunities to scale and bring its life-changing products to more stoma users across the UK and beyond. The pair have recently launched the business in the US to help stoma patients there too. Debbie Dawkins, Business Gateway adviser, said: 'Anne and Lisa's determination to get ConfiPlus into the hands of the people who need it most is incredibly inspiring. It's been a pleasure to support her through this critical process. Winning the NHS Scotland contract is a huge milestone, and I'm excited to see how the business continues to grow.'

'Best lash serum ever' with over 50K reviews has shoppers ditching false lashes
Shoppers can get the UKLash product for less when subscribing Thousands of shoppers are swearing by the 'best lash serum ever' and there's a way to get it for less. UKLash's Eyelash Enhancing Serum typically costs £38 but drops down to £30.40 when subscribing. The serum uses a number of ingredients to fortify lashes. Biotin peptide is used for its role in processing fatty acids and boosting their effectiveness which leads to stronger and fuller lashes. Green tea is also used for soothing skin and helping lashes grow. Panthenol, also known as vitamin B5, repairs, protects and nourishes the hair follicle while Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17 is used for stimulating the production of Keratin - a viral protein for lash growth. There are other serums on the market, such as the £27 RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum which has 585 five-star reviews on LookFantastic and Glow For It's £29.99 Lash Growth Serum. The latter has 1,175 reviews although it's hard to compete with the thousands on UKLash. UKLash's serum has pulled in an average rating of 4.8 out of five from over 51,000 reviews online. One shopper said: "I had little to no lashes when I started using this, not because of my lash extensions, but simply due to genetics. I've never had long, full lashes. After two months of consistent use, this serum absolutely works. I started noticing real results around the 4- to 6-week mark, definite length and even some volume improvement. "Of course, results can vary from person to person, but this has been a game-changer for me. I couldn't be happier with the difference it's made!" Another shopper wrote: " Best lash serum ever. I have been using this since early April (it's now May) and I have NOT gone back to lashes since, I used to never be able to go out the house without clusters and now all I have to do is chuck a little bit of mascara on and I'm set, this has had such fast results I'm genuinely in love! Please take this as your sign to cop!" One shopper found the serum a little uncomfortable to use, writing: "A little disappointed by how they make my eyes feel! I should have gotten the sensitive eye version since whenever I use it, my eyes get red and a bit stingy." There is a Sensitive Lash Growth Serum that has proven popular with shoppers although it has around 700 reviews rather than the thousands on the classic serum.
