The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't often get national love, regardless of being one of the most consistent teams over the past five seasons.

With stars on the roster like Mike Evans, Vita Vea and Lavonte David, their names are hardly ever on the list of the top of their position groups outside of Tampa Bay.
Why should this offseason be any different?
Pro Football Focus released its tight end rankings ahead of the 2025 season, and while Cade Otton isn't ranked highly, it's for good reason.
20. Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
"Otton's Achilles' heel is drops. He has the third most (11) at the position across the past two years. His 63.1 PFF receiving grade in 2024 was a career high and also marks the first time he generated more than 1 yard per route run (1.31). If he can hang on to the ball (also three fumbles the past two years), Otton has the skills to rise on this list."

Otton is sandwiched between No. 19 Kyle Pitts in Atlanta and No. 21 Josh Oliver in Minnesota.
Otton was a fourth-round pick by the Bucs in 2022 out of then-Pac-12 powerhouse Washington. He had an impressive rookie campaign with 391 yards and two touchdowns, but suffered from drops. He posted just 42 catches on 65 targets with five drops, leading all tight ends.
The next season wasn't much better, with three drops on 67 targets, and he got worse last season. In 2024, Otton posted 59 catches on 87 targets with 600 yards and four touchdowns but eight drops.
If Otton can clean up his pass catching, he'd be a far more effective offensive tool for quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Bucs.

New York Giants' Jameis Winston named a trade candidate

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen was given a mandate by management this offseason to solve the quarterback dilemma. The Giants have been one of the NFL's weakest offensive teams the past two seasons, mainly due to poor play under center. Schoen got to work quickly and decided to throw a lot of resources Gone are the likes of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tim Boyle, replaced by veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart. The moves have been well-received thus far, leading to the question: Did Schoen do too much? Wilson is the starter and Dart the future. Where does that leave Winston? In a recent piece for Pro Football Focus, Bradley Locker identified Winston as a possible trade candidate. After spending the start of his NFL career as the Buccaneers' primary signal-caller, Winston is deep into his second act as a journeyman backup. That road may include another stop soon. While with the Browns in 2024, Winston tallied a 69.5 PFF passing grade with 11 big-time throws and 18 turnover-worthy plays. The 31-year-old displayed that he's still capable of slinging the ball at a high level in spurts, producing 82.0-plus PFF passing grades against the Steelers and Bengals last year. The Giants are likely to start either Russell Wilson or first-round pick Jaxson Dart, leaving Winston as the team's presumptive QB3. New York could keep the former first overall pick in that role, but Winston figures to be most teams' top trade target when a quarterback injury inevitably happens. The reason Schoen went full overkill on the quarterback situation is that the Giants have had an unusually high number of injuries at the position over the past two seasons. He wants to make sure he never runs into that issue again. The Giants still have Tommy DeVito under contract and are surely not going to carry four quarterbacks. Winston is signed for two seasons at $4 million per. As stated, he would be an attractive option for a team looking for an experienced starter due to a sudden injury, but probably not someone the Giants will move.

Does Colts' Day 3 draft pick have early advantage in positional battle?

There have only been two training camp practices for the Indianapolis Colts, but one Day 3 rookie looks like he may have the upper hand in a positional battle. While all eyes will be on the quarterback position--and understandably so--GM Chris Ballard highlighted a handful of other competitions taking place during training camp, one of which is for the swing tackle role off the bench. Competing for that job are Blake Freeland and fourth-round pick Jalen Travis, who appear to have the advantage at this time. During Thursday's practice, Braden Smith got a vet rest day, so starting at right tackle was Travis and not Freeland. Nothing, of course, is decided at this time, and as Joel Erickson of the Indy Star noted, perhaps the next time that one of these players needs to step in, Freeland could get the nod. However, this is at least noteworthy. Freeland would play 701 snaps as a rookie in 2023, but took his lumps. Last season, third-round pick Matt Goncalves overtook Freeland for the swing tackle role, and Travis is potentially doing the same. In his 2024 season at Iowa State, Travis was one of the best offensive tackles in college football when it came to pass protection. He allowed just one sack and 11 pressures on the year, ranking 15th in PFF's pass-blocking efficiency metric. "I think Travis has got a really good ceiling to what he's going to become in our league," Ballard said prior to training camp. "And Freeland has gotten bigger and stronger, which has been really encouraging." Colts' free agent signee stands out on Day 1 of training camp

Indianapolis Colts' free agent signee, cornerback Charvarius Ward, impressed during the team's first training camp practice. "Very impressed," Shane Steichen said of Ward, via Locked on Colts. "Great signing by Chris (Ballard) to get him on this football team. You saw how sticky he was and the plays he made. I don't know how many he made today, but he made a ton. Great to have him out there." According to the Indy Star's Joel Erickson, two of the plays that Ward made in practice were pass breakups against Alec Pierce on a deep route and then against Michael Pittman. This offseason, the Colts signed Ward to a three-year, $54 million free agent deal. He joins the Colts one year removed from an All-Pro season in 2023. That year, Ward had five interceptions, 17 pass breakups, and allowed a completion rate of just 54%, per PFF. Beyond the production, Ward brings winning experience to the Colts defense--something this team doesn't have a lot of--having played in two Super Bowls, winning one of them. He's also a great fit for Lou Anarumo's defensive system, with his ability to play on an island and match up with a variety of wide receiver skill sets. "It's go time," Ward said via Locked on Colts after practice. "It's training camp time. It isn't time to be eased into anything right now. I'm getting ready for the season. We're getting ready for a long run, hopefully to make the playoffs. We all in, 10 toes deep right now." Ward, along with Cam Bynum and Anarumo calling the plays, will play a key role in turning this Colts' secondary around this season. A year ago, the Colts ranked in the bottom third of the NFL in passer rating, completion rate, pass deflections, and yards per pass attempt allowed.
