Marshall Security officers patrolling the area reported hearing multiple shots near the club and dispatched their tactical team to the scene. Witnesses told security personnel that a man had been involved in a dispute inside the nightclub and fired shots after leaving the premises.
'A blue Renault Triber was spotted fleeing the scene at high speed. Marshall Security initiated a chase while Durban North SAPS officers were alerted,' said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
'The pursuit ended in Phoenix when the suspect's vehicle overturned in a residential area. Marshall Security officers apprehended one male suspect on the scene. A blank-firing pistol, believed to have been used during the incident, was recovered,' he added.
Several associates of the suspect arrived shortly after the crash, but security officers maintained control of the scene until Phoenix SAPS provided assistance. The suspect and the firearm were handed over to Durban North SAPS for further investigation.
No injuries were reported.

Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu has been placed on leave of absence pending a judicial commission of inquiry, as ordered by President Cyril Ramaphosa. For public servants, this often equates to paid leave.. Mchunu's leave comes a week after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi made bombshell allegations of underworld dealings about the minister. During a 'family meeting' briefing on Sunday evening, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that he had placed Minister Senzo Mchunu of a leave of absence. This minister would remain on leave for the duration of judicial commission of inquiry. The commission would be pending an 'urgent and comprehensive investigation' on Mkhwanazi's criminal allegations. Despite outlining the lengthy process, which could take several months, Ramaphosa claimed that the commission would be attended to with 'necessary urgency and thoroughness'. Tshwane weekend operation nets 328 in Silverton and Garsfontein
In a bid to combat crime, the SAPS in Tshwane continued with its disruptive weekend crime operations in Silverton and Garsfontein policing precinct on July 12. The multidisciplinary operation was a planned intervention aimed at addressing crime in the Tshwane metro. It took place under the leadership of the District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine. Warrant Officer Marinda Austin said that the operation was a collaborative effort comprising law enforcement agencies, including SAPS, the Department of Home Affairs, Tshwane Metro Police Department, Gauteng Traffic Police, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, and representatives of the local CPF. 'This combined effort resulted in the overall arrest of 328 suspects for criminal offences. These results are a direct outcome of planning, strategic deployments and heightened visibility aimed at reducing crime and continued track and tracing of wanted suspects,' said Austin. She said detective teams were responsible for more than 200 of the arrests made on Saturday night. 'The detectives were responsible for 234 arrests: 120 suspects were arrested for contact crime, which includes 1 for murder, 2 for attempted murder, 6 for armed robbery, 5 for common robbery, 19 for assault grievous bodily harm (GBH), 12 for assault for gender-based violence (GBV) under the Domestic Violence Act. Thirty-three people were arrested for common assault, 35 for common assault under the Domestic Violence Act, 6 for rape and 1 for sexual assault.' Austin said a roadblock with operational teams in the Silverton precinct resulted in the detention of 39 undocumented foreign nationals, who are now being processed by immigration authorities. 'During the operation, 967 individuals and 633 vehicles were searched.' Other arrests included 13 suspects for property-related crimes that included burglary at residences and theft out of and from motor vehicles, 18 people for driving under the influence of alcohol and 15 people for public drinking. Austin added that targeted patrols were conducted at 13 identified crime hotspots, leading to further arrests and the issuing of 21 534 fines of R17 200. Traffic enforcement units issued six Aarto infringement notices, totalling R3 750 in fines. Liquor compliance inspections were carried out at four establishments, and liquor was confiscated. Major-General Thine thanked all participating stakeholders for their continued co-operation and commitment to enhancing community safety.
