Finish RTE admissions by July 7 or face action: DEO to 43 schools
Ranchi: Despite multiple reminders and deadline extensions, 43 out of 72 recognised private schools in the district have failed to complete the mandated admission process under Section 12(1)(C) of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now As a final reminder, the district education office has asked all defaulting schools to complete the online enrolment process by July 7 without fail. Schools have also been instructed to inform parents of the selected children and facilitate their admission promptly. The RTE provision requires schools to reserve 25% of their entry-level seats for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections. According to a letter from the district administration, instructions were initially issued to all schools to complete the enrolment by June 2 and update the admission details on the dedicated RTE portal for the academic session 2025–26. However, considering the summer vacation in schools, the deadline was extended to June 25. Despite this relaxation, it was found that many schools neither initiated nor completed the enrolment process. The letter stated, "Non-compliance with the mandated RTE admission process will invite strict action from the administration. Schools failing to admit eligible children may face the withdrawal of their UDISE code, cancellation of CBSE affiliation, and penalties as per the provisions of the Right to Education Act, 2009."
