Oscar winner Mikey Madison lines up first post-award project alongside Kirsten Dunst
Fresh off her Oscar win for Anora, Mikey Madison has lined up her first major project and it's already turning heads.
While Demi Moore was heavily favored to win Best Actress at this year's Academy Awards, Madison shocked the industry by taking home the trophy instead.
Following Anora's impressive haul of five Academy Awards and Madison's unexpected win, fans and insiders alike have been speculating about her next move.
Many assumed she would follow the traditional path of joining a major franchise.
In fact, Madison was reportedly offered a role in Shawn Levy's upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling. The project, with its franchise pedigree and blockbuster potential, seemed like a natural next step for a rising star.
However, Madison has instead chosen something more offbeat and personal: she will star in Reptilia, a psychological thriller co-starring Kirsten Dunst.
As reported by Variety, Reptilia centers on a mysterious mermaid who lures a dental hygienist into the dangerous underworld of Florida's exotic animal trade.
The film will be directed by Alejandro Landes Echavarría, whose 2019 feature Monos earned acclaim and won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award at Sundance.
The script for Reptilia is co-written by Landes Echavarría and Duke Merriman, promising a unique and atmospheric entry into the thriller genre.
This choice reflects Madison's inclination toward bold, character-driven films over formulaic blockbusters.
While she has experience in franchise fare, appearing in 2022's Scream and the 2019 animated Addams Family, her standout work has come in more singular stories like Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood and Anora.
By turning down a role in one of Hollywood's biggest franchises in favor of a smaller, visionary thriller, Madison is clearly signaling that she's choosing artistic direction over conventional star-making.

Brad Pitt's Los Angeles home burglarised
Burglars broke into Brad Pitt's Los Angeles home on Thursday, ransacking the property and fleeing with stolen items while the Oscar-winning actor was travelling to promote his new racing thriller F1, US media reported. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told NBC News that a break-in took place at a residence in the Los Feliz neighbourhood around 10:30PM (0530 GMT), without officially confirming who owned the home. Police sources told NBC News and the Los Angeles Times that three suspects climbed over a front fence and broke in through the home's front window before ransacking the location and fleeing with some belongings. The value of the stolen items has not been disclosed. Pitt was not home at the time, as he has been on a global promotional tour for his new movie F1. The 61-year-old actor attended the film's premiere in London this week. The property was purchased by Pitt in 2023 for $5.5 million, according to Variety magazine. Pitt is among the most recent celebrities to have their Los Angeles homes burglarized. About $500,000 of jewellery was allegedly stolen from the home of French striker Olivier Giroud of MLS side Los Angeles FC in a burglary in February. That same month, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's residence was reportedly burglarized. On the work front, Pitt has been grabbing headlines with his Formula One film. Formula One is hoping the film cements the appeal of the Netflix docu-series Drive to Survive that has boosted Formula One's popularity and growth worldwide and particularly in the key US market. "I think there's this perception that Drive to Survive turned America onto F1 but I think there's just so many more people out there that don't know anything about it," said director Joseph Kosinski. "So there's a lot of potential still there."

Lizzo opens up about depression, music as healing, and her new album ‘Love in Real Life'
Lizzo is known for her confidence and joy, but behind the scenes, she's faced serious mental health struggles. In a new Rolling Stone interview, the Grammy-winning singer shared that making her upcoming album, Love in Real Life, became a lifeline during a dark chapter of depression. 'There were days I didn't think I could make it through,' Lizzo said. 'But I had to show up to the studio. Music saved my life.' She described the intense emotions she poured into the writing process, even if some of the songs didn't make the final cut. 'There were things I needed to say, even if I couldn't release them.' Lizzo admitted that she used to second-guess her lyrics out of concern for how others might feel. 'I said, 'I will never, ever be a side chick,' but then I worried, what if I offend someone?' Over time, she's realised trying to avoid criticism is impossible. 'Everybody's offended by something now. You can't please everyone. So I've started saying what I want to say.' Despite fame, her personal battles didn't magically disappear. 'My anxiety didn't go away. My depression didn't go away. I'm still the same person,' she previously told Variety. What's changed is her outlook. Now, Lizzo feels more empowered than ever. 'Yo, I'm feeling amazing now. Like, shit. I wasn't feeling bad before, but I do feel like brand-new, you know?' she said. 'I need to be creating all the time. That's my new thing… You need to trust your vision too. And I'm really, really happy.'

Cassidy, who played at Beyoncé and Jay-Z's 2008 wedding, has also spun tunes at events like Elton John's Oscar party, both of President Barack Obama's inaugurations, and the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The party will be held in the historic Arsenale area, with a star-studded guest list that includes Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Tom Brady, Bill Gates, Diane Von Furstenberg, Kim Kardashian, and Kris Jenner, among others. Cassidy's past gigs also include performances for Naomi Campbell, President Joe Biden, and Jennifer Lopez, further solidifying his status as one of the most sought-after DJs in the industry. His 'Pass the Mic Live' tour was even turned into a special for BET. Speculation about other possible performers includes Sir Elton John and Lady Gaga, with rumors circulating that they might take the stage at one of the couple's events over the course of the three-day celebration. On Friday, the couple's wedding ceremony will take place on San Giorgio Maggiore island, featuring a performance by Matteo Bocelli, the son of renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. Guests for the event have been kept in the dark about the precise locations, with sources confirming they were only given the event times, not details. Earlier, Bezos and Sánchez hosted a welcome party at Madonna dell'Orto church, which was abruptly cut short due to a thunderstorm. Despite the rain, the event was attended by VIP guests including Orlando Bloom, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Ivanka Trump.
