"We get to talk once a week": Jason Kelce hails Travis as a ‘great uncle' and the ‘best friend' he could ever ask for
Jason Kelce has always been vocal about his admiration for his younger brother,
Travis Kelce
. But in a recent heartwarming interaction at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center took it a step further by calling Travis his 'best friend on the planet.
'
Jason Kelce's rare emotional words about Travis
Jason and Travis, now arguably one of the most beloved sibling duos in sports and entertainment, showed just how tight-knit their bond has become. Speaking with reporters on July 11, Jason admitted that while they've always been close, things have changed for the better in recent years—especially since they launched their chart-topping podcast, New Heights.
'Travis and I have been close for a long time,' Jason told Starcade Media.
'Now with the [New Heights] podcast, we talk to each other more than we ever have. We loved each other growing up. We still love each other. Now it's more like peer to peer, whereas growing up, being the older brother, it was a little bit different.'
This weekly podcast, known for its candid takes and viral moments, has not only connected them with fans but also deepened their personal connection. 'Now, he's my best friend on the planet,' Jason added.
'We get to talk once a week and our families are close. He's a great uncle.'
That admiration extends beyond the mic and into family life. Jason, who shares four daughters with his wife Kylie Kelce, frequently credits Travis for being a hands-on uncle. 'Travis has great advice. He's a great uncle. Outstanding uncle,' Jason shared in a past New Heights episode, recalling how Travis joked about handing the kids back after some fun time.
Their father, Ed Kelce, was also present with them at the Lake Tahoe event, symbolizing the strong foundation that their family values are built upon. Despite their enormous fame—especially with Travis now dating global pop icon Taylor Swift—the Kelce family remains grounded.
Jason acknowledged that while fans love the brothers' online chemistry, they're careful to preserve their private lives. 'I think we try to share the right amount on the internet, the viral moments and whatnot.
But you also try to keep some of the stuff private… We're a family that loves each other, we love being around each other.'
Even Travis couldn't hide his affection for his nieces. During a Super Bowl 2025 press conference, he gushed, 'Those girls warm my heart. They're the absolute best.'
From football fields to podcast charts, and now golf greens, Jason and Travis Kelce continue to set sibling goals—not just through fame, but through the authentic, unshakeable bond they share.

Trey Smith contract deadline: Will Chiefs secure Patrick Mahomes' top protector before July 15?
Chiefs have until July 15 to secure Trey Smith's future (Image via: Getty Images) Trey Smith has anchored the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive line since 2021, playing a crucial role in protecting superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes . As the July 15 contract deadline nears, the pressure is building on the Chiefs to secure their dominant right guard long-term or risk losing a key piece of their Super Bowl-winning core in 2025 free agency. Why Trey Smith extension matters more than ever Drafted in the sixth round due to medical red flags, Smith quickly outperformed his draft slot. Since his rookie season, he's started every game, helped lead the Chiefs to three Super Bowls, and won two. In 2024, he logged 1,115 snaps, allowed zero sacks, and earned an elite 80.8 run-blocking grade, ranking him among the top 10 guards in the NFL. Patrick Mahomes has taken notice. Smith's consistency in pass protection and physical dominance in the run game make him one of the most trusted names in the Chiefs' locker room. Simply put, when Mahomes steps into a clean pocket, Trey Smith is often the reason why. Smith signed a $23.4 million franchise tag in March. But without a multi-year deal by July 15 at 4 PM ET, he'll play 2024 on the tag and hit free agency next March. For Kansas City, that could be a dangerous gamble. Top guards in the NFL now command up to $21 million per year and over $60 million in guarantees. Smith's camp knows it. The Chiefs do too. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cách giao dịch ETH/USD mà không cần nắm giữ Ether IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Letting him hit the open market could invite massive offers from teams desperate for elite offensive line help. Losing Trey Smith would not only weaken Kansas City's interior line but also put added pressure on Mahomes, who was sacked a career-high 36 times last season, including six in the Super Bowl. "It was one of those gut feelings. Jof was back and sometimes your gut just works. He cracked the game open with two wickets this morning. What an amazing job to get through that spell." Stokes credited Bashir's warrior spirit: "Broken finger, and he still stepped up. Took responsibility with the bat and then came back to take the final wicket — just amazing."
