Passengers were stunned when told they had to pay in cryptocurrency or cash to book new flights after their plane was forced to divert to Azerbaijan.
The QF2 plane flying from London to Singapore was forced to reverse course and make the sudden landing after a passenger went into cardiac arrest.
Hundreds of passengers then found themselves in an uncertain situation at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in the country's capital Baku.
The passengers were told the flight to Singapore could not continue as the crew had already reached their maximum legal working hours, and the plane had to undergo maintenance.
They were offered overnight accommodation and told they could use their existing tickets on another flight, but anyone who could not wait that long could pay for alternative flights if they had cash or crypto.
Hannah, who was on board the plane, took to social media to slam the situation.
'Hey Qantas currently stranded in Azerbaijan with almost 500 other passengers after a medical emergency. There's been no help getting a different flight and airport staff are asking for us to pay for new flights in crypto or cash only? Not okay, she said.

The actress, 31, signed on to the project last year which has been in development since 2020, with Madonna, 66, slated to direct and write the film. The film was initially developed with Diablo Cody on board as co-writer of the screenplay, which was then titled Little Sparrow. However, the hitmaker pivoted her focus to zero in on her international Celebration tour. Then, last year the Michigan native penned most of the film with Erin Cressida Wilson, and eyed Garner to portray her. Last November, Madonna used social media to air out her frustration over road blocks in her pursuit to bring her film to life. Madonna has been persistent in her years-long effort to have a movie about her life made (pictured in 1984) She wrote on Instagram, 'After struggling for days in LA, listening to producers and agents tell me why I couldn't make my film, I realized that everything in my life is going to be challenged.' The renowned performer noted she had 'been working on it for 4 years,' with people insisting that she should 'downsize, down scale, think smaller.' The lengthy caption continued, 'No easy rides for me. I guess I should be grateful.. It forces me to think outside the box. I did not have a normal life. I cannot make this in the normal way.' But she explained that she felt a sense of renewed motivation after spending time with loved ones: 'Spending time with my creative friends was just the fuel I needed to keep going! Channel Nine sports presenter Danika Mason has jetted off to Singapore for a romantic getaway with her footy star boyfriend Liam Knight, who has sent her a heartfelt birthday message. Their trip comes just days after Knight, 30, inked a 12-month contract extension with Hull FC in the Super League. Mason first uploaded an image from the Tanjong Beach Club with the accompanying caption: 'Out of office.' Hours later the glamorous media identity posted another Instagram story, featuring her in a cosy couple shot next to Knight in Singapore. It was then the footy star's turn to publicly declare his love for Mason. In a gushing message, Knight also posted a number of images featuring the couple travelling abroad together. Alleged ‘con queen of Hollywood' loses High Court challenge against extradition
A man who was nicknamed the 'con queen of Hollywood ' after allegedly impersonating movie executives and defrauding hundreds of people has lost a court bid to challenge his extradition to the United States. Hargobind Tahilramani is accused of conning over 300 victims – including actors, screenwriters and photographers – over the course of seven years. Tahilramani would allegedly convince entertainment industry professionals to travel to Indonesia at their own expense for non-existent projects. They were then allegedly charged exorbitant expenses which were never repaid. The 45-year-old is wanted in the US to face eight charges, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, two counts of wire fraud and five counts of aggravated identity theft. He faced extradition proceedings in 2022, and in June 2023 Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring approved Tahilramani's extradition, which was later ordered by the Home Secretary. Tahilramani brought an appeal to the High Court in London in April. Judge Mr Justice Sweeting dismissed the bid in a decision on Tuesday. Tahilramani's lawyers argued that the chief magistrate had been wrong to allow his extradition, considering his mental health and risk of suicide. They also said the judge was wrong to find that extraditing Tahilramani would be compatible with his human rights given the risk of inhuman and degrading treatment, including sexual assault. Mr Justice Sweeting said in a 28-page ruling: 'The applicant's case is that he would almost certainly face confinement alone in protective custody due to his sexual orientation and effeminate demeanour.' The judge found that any differences in treatment Tahilramani could face in prison would be aimed at preventing inter-prisoner violence, and that the previous judge was right to conclude that it 'would not be oppressive due to his physical or mental condition to extradite him'. Mr Justice Sweeting concluded: 'The differential treatment claimed by the applicant, even if established, would relate to protective measures taken due to vulnerability, and not as a result of a discriminatory intent or practice based on his sexual orientation. 'Such measures … are not inhuman or degrading and serve a legitimate purpose within the US penal system.'
