IRONHEART Star Alden Ehrenreich Talks Surprise Role and the Character's Future in the MCU — GeekTyrant

Geek Tyrant26-06-2025
The first few episodes of Ironheart pulled back the curtain on a legacy character with deep roots in the MCU. That surprise comes in the form of Alden Ehrenreich, who starts off playing a seemingly regular guy named Joe McGillicuddy, only to be revealed as Ezekiel Stane, the son of Jeff Bridges' Obadiah Stane from Iron Man .
It's a interesting connection to the film that kicked off the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Ehrenreich is clearly aware of the significance. Speaking to ScreenRant, he opened up for the first time about stepping into a role so closely tied to the franchise's origin:
"Well, it's nice to be a part of something that relates back to the whole legacy of the story, especially because that character was in the first real Marvel movie that started all of this."
He also shared a fun connection between his casting and another MCU icon.
"And I had just worked with Robert Downey Jr. [on Oppenheimer] when I got this part, and so I got to talk to him about it and that was nice. I just FaceTimed with him, and I was like, 'So this has come my way, and this is the role — what do you think?' And he was like, 'Yeah, do it.'"
As for why Ezekiel Stane was chosen for Ironheart , head writer Chinaka Hodge told TV Line it was about mining the MCU's overlooked corners:
"It's a gem of a 'hanging chad' in the Obadiah Stane story. One of the best things about the MCU is how things connect, but I think so many of the throws have been forward or to other MCUs or alternate universes, and it's so much fun to reach back."
Hodge also hinted that Ezekiel's journey may only be beginning:
"Alden's so great in the role and the character is so much fun. I expect, as a fan, it will live a long time."
That said, it's unclear where exactly Ezekiel will pop up next. With Armor Wars no longer on the immediate horizon, Ezekiel's future in the MCU might be a waiting game. But if Ehrenreich's take on the character resonates with fans, don't be surprised if Marvel finds a way to bring him back.
The first three episodes of Ironheart are now streaming on Disney+.

WWE SummerSlam Night 2 live results: Updates, winners and losers, highlights, grades and analysis

WWE SummerSlam Night 2 closes out WWE SummerSlam 2025 weekend with a bang, ending the two-night extravaganza with a stacked card on Sunday evening at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. After a busy Night 1, the momentum only ramps up more for the second half of the festivities. Sunday's card features six title matches, with all but two featuring extra stipulations. The hotly-anticipated main event rematch between Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena and former champion Cody Rhodes takes place under "Street Fight" rules. The last time Cena and Rhodes met was at WrestleMania 41 in April, when Cena dethroned Rhodes in his first match as a heel. Cena appeared to turn back to his classic babyface ways on this past Friday's "WWE SmackDown," however the question remains whether Cena's words were sincere or simply another ruse to distract Rhodes all over again. The Women's World title will once more be contested in a triple-threat match, as new champion Naomi defends against two of the former champions involved in this year's WrestleMania classic, Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley. They won't be the only women competing for gold though, as Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria battle it out in their bad-blood trilogy for Lynch's Intercontinental crown. There will be no DQs and no count-outs in that one, and if Valkyria loses, she'll be unable to ever challenge for the title again. Men's Intercontinental Champion Dominick Mysterio also be defends his belt against former champ AJ Styles after weeks of shenanigans on "WWE Raw." Then, rounding out the chaos, United States Champion Solo Sikoa will be locked in a Steel Cage for the latest chapter in his rivalry with Jacob Fatu. Yet all of these matches will surely pale in comparison to the WWE Tag Team title match. It will be Tables, Ladders and Chairs when the champions, The Wyatt Sicks, look to overcome five other teams. Here's a look at Saturday's full WWE SummerSlam Night 2 match card, which kicks off at 6 p.m. ET on Peacock: Undisputed WWE Championship, Street Fight: John Cena (c.) vs. Cody Rhodes Women's World Championship: Naomi (c.) vs. Iyo Sky vs. Rhea Ripley Intercontinental Championship: Dominick Mysterio (c.) vs. AJ Styles United States Championship, Steel Cage match: Solo Sikoa (c.) vs. Jacob Fatu Women's Intercontinental Championship, No DQ match: Becky Lynch (c.) vs. Lyra Valkyria WWE Tag Team Championship, TLC match: The Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy) (c.) vs. Andrade and Rey Fenix vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs. Fraxiom (Axiom and Nathan Frazer) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Saban) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) Follow all of the action from SummerSlam Night 2 with Uncrowned's live coverage below:

'I think there's a political coup going on right now in the Republican Party that people aren't paying attention to,' he said. 'I think this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back, I really do.' He added, 'They know this is the issue that has gotten the base riled up. The MAGA base isn't letting this issue go, and for the first time, they know they can probably take their party back and not piss off the MAGA base.'
