Anand: As the 44th batch of students graduated from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), the highest salary package offered this year reached an impressive Rs 31.84 lakh per annum — marking a 2.18% increase over last year's highest package of Rs 31.16 lakh.
The record-breaking offer was extended to two students: Hrishabh Mitra from Anand and Riya Maithani from Uttarakhand, both recruited by fintech giant PhonePe.
IRMA director Dr Umakant Dash said, "The mean and median packages also saw significant year-on-year growth of 10.6% and 5.3% respectively."
The median salary package for the 44th batch now stands at Rs 15.80 lakh per annum, up from Rs 15 lakh last year. The mean package has also risen, reaching Rs 15.64 lakh per annum, compared to Rs 14.14 lakh the previous year.
The lowest salary package offered stood at Rs 8 lakh per annum.
Nearly 100 organisations showed interest in participating in this year's campus placement process, out of which 65 actively recruited from the graduating batch.
The Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector remained the leading recruiter, accounting for nearly 39% of total placements. This was followed by the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social business sectors, which emerged as the second and third largest recruiters, respectively.
As in previous years, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul Fed) continued to be one of the top recruiters. Other notable recruiters included the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Atomberg Technologies, AU Small Finance Bank, BAIF Development Research Foundation, Banas Dairy, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Coromandel International, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, ITC, L&T Finance, and Maruti Suzuki India Limited, among others.
Adding to the success of the batch, 20 students secured pre-placement offers (PPOs) through their summer internships and national-level case competitions.

Demand for MSME stock exchange in UP

Lucknow: Based on its on-ground experience of interaction with UP's diaspora in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh Development Forum — a not-for-profit social organisation working to integrate UP diaspora for development of the state — has urged the Uttar Pradesh govt to establish a dedicated MSME National Stock Exchange in Uttar Pradesh. In a letter to UP MSME minister Rakesh Sachan, UPDF president Pankaj Jaiswal wrote: "While existing stock exchanges such as BSE and NSE offer an SME platform for IPOs, these often operate under the overwhelming shadow of large-cap markets much like a sapling growing under a Banyan tree. We believe that if UP being the national leader in MSMEs takes the bold step of establishing a dedicated MSME Stock Exchange, it would serve as a catalytic financial institution for MSMEs across India." He added UP's exchange could focus exclusively on the unique capital needs of small and medium enterprises. He listed out several advantages of the exchange, such as simplified and fast-track listing procedure; tailored compliance mechanisms; sector-specific investor networks. "The initiative would not only solve capital accessibility issues but also position Uttar Pradesh as the capital state for MSMEs, just as Mumbai is for capital markets," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Co-live Spaces Starting from 42L+ | Whitefield Sumadhura Learn More Undo Sachan, during his interaction with UPDF in Maharashtra on Saturday, gave a presentation on the policy support being provided to MSMEs in Uttar Pradesh and elaborated on the govt's flagship "PLEDGE Scheme". This scheme promotes the development of private industrial parks under a "build, own, and operate" model, allowing land development from 10 to 50 acres with significant incentives, including 100% exemption on stamp duty, loan assistance at just 1% interest rate, grant support of up to Rs 4 crore, 10 years exemption on electricity duty, as well as GST and income tax exemptions. Facilities such as testing labs, effluent treatment plants, and road connectivity are also supported. He also invited entrepreneurs to invest in UP and share knowledge with local industries. On this occasion, Ashok Tiwari proposed organising a National MSME Conclave in Uttar Pradesh.

No pre-arrest bail for ex-CEO in city co-op bank scam

Mumbai: A sessions court refused to grant interim relief from arrest to former CEO of the New India Co-operative Bank Ltd, Abhimanyu Bhoan, in the bank scam case. The city's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against Percept Ltd founder-director Harinder Pal Singh, New India Co-operative Bank former chairman Hiren Bhanu and his wife Gauri, bank's former CEO Abhimayu Bhoan, Ranjit Bhanu (deceased) and five others for allegedly causing a loss of around Rs 25 crore to the bank between 2014 and 2023. This is the second FIR registered against the Bhanus and Bhoan. In Feb, a case was filed against the Bhanus, Bhoan and seven others after RBI officials found Rs 122 crore cash missing from the cooperative bank. According to the fresh FIR, Bhanu and a few bank officials had sanctioned a loan of Rs 77 crore to Percept Group, a media and entertainment firm. Police claimed that Bhanu, who was then also the director of Hermis group of companies, received nearly Rs 6.4 crore from Percept as kickbacks, which was shown as business dealings with the Percept Group using fake invoices. The police said the fraud took place between Sept 3, 2014 and Oct 19, 2023. The FIR was registered at Dadar police station, and the probe was later taken over by EOW. Rejecting the plea for interim relief, the judge said that the allegation in the earlier FIR is to the extent of receiving Rs 1 crore by Bhoan from the Rs 127 crore allegedly siphoned by co-accused Hitesh Mehta. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 月 *만원대 '실비보험' 최적가 비교가입! Manimajra's 24x7 water supply project hits turbulence; MC internal report, Chandigarh BJP chief flag major flaws

1 2 3 4 Chandigarh: What was once hailed as a flagship initiative under the 'Viksit Bharat' vision is now under intense scrutiny. The ambitious 24x7 water supply pilot project in Manimajra, inaugurated with much fanfare by Union home minister Amit Shah in Aug 2024, has hit turbulent waters. Amid growing concerns and political pressure, Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria is set to convene a high-level meeting to dissect the project's faltering progress. The move comes in the wake of a strongly worded letter from Chandigarh BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra to the Union home minister, expressing alarm over the project's execution. Sources confirm that the ministry of home affairs has since forwarded the letter to the UT Administrator, prompting urgent administrative attention. The project, spearheaded by Chandigarh Smart City Limited and executed through a Rajasthan-based agency, was envisioned to revolutionize water supply in Manimajra — transitioning from intermittent to round-the-clock pressurized water delivery, complete with smart metering and automated control systems. But the reality on the ground paints a starkly different picture. A confidential internal report by the Engineering Department of the Municipal Corporation has laid bare a series of alarming discrepancies: No zone in Manimajra has achieved 24x7 pressurized water supply; pressure reducing valves (PRVs) and variable frequency drive (VFD) pumping systems remain non-operational; major lapses in the construction of underground reservoirs, pumping stations, and the rollout of the SCADA automation system; and much-touted smart water meters are yet to be fully deployed. The project was awarded through an e-tender at a staggering Rs 165.86 crore, split into capital expenditure (capex) — Rs 74.56 crore — and operational expenditure (OPEX) — Rs 91.29 crore. Despite the scale of investment, the outcomes have been underwhelming — a fact that has not gone unnoticed by local leadership. Malhotra has reportedly warned that the project's failure is damaging the BJP's image and undermining the Prime Minister's development agenda. What's Next? With the spotlight now firmly on the project, the upcoming meeting chaired by Kataria is expected to be a turning point. Malhotra's letter to Shah In a letter to Amit Shah, Chandigarh BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra said, "In August 2024, a project was inaugurated by you, in the presence of administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, chief secretary Rajeev Verma, and other dignitaries, for 24-hour water supply with proper pressure for all floors. The funds amounting to Rs 75 crore were allocated for the project under the smart city mission. The reality of this project clearly reflects that the whole project has collapsed, and nobody is held accountable and responsible for this wastage of Rs 75 crore. Sir, on one side, taxes are being imposed on the public, and on the other, Rs 75 crore have been wasted. Certainly, there are policy lapses or a lack of accountability in the system of administration of UT Chandigarh. The media reports are causing grave damage to our reputation in public at large and are also not in tune with our visionary Prime Minister's dream of VIKSIT BHARAT: 2047. Your good self is thus humbly requested to intervene in the matter and call for a detailed inquiry report on the same."
