Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo provides 400k Ramadan meals

ARN News Center18-03-2025
Since the first day of Ramadan, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo, Indonesia, has been hosting between 12,000 and 15,000 guests daily as part of the "Iftar Project" initiative, amounting to around 400,000 meals during the Holy Month.
The project, hosted under the patronage of the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable & Humanitarian Foundation, follows the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who championed the values of solidarity, compassion, and generosity.
Four large tents have been set up in different areas of the mosque's premises which are managed by more than 120 volunteers from the Solo community and university students, embodying the principles of generosity and social cooperation.
The mosque hosts a variety of activities and events to celebrate Ramadan and uphold religious traditions, including religious lectures, Islamic studies, daily Quran recitation sessions, and the "Mazameer Al-QuraN'' Competition for the best Quranic recitation.
Additionally, the mosque organises educational sessions on classical Islamic texts, specialised training courses in various vital fields, and celebrations for Zayed Humanitarian Day, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan.
Director-General of the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, drew attention to the fact that as part of the UAE's mission to promote tolerance, solidarity, and generosity, the foundation continues its commitment to these humanitarian values in the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
He also noted that the foundation implements the "Iftar Project" initiative in 13 countries worldwide.
Al Falahi highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts and partnerships established by the Zayed Foundation, which have contributed to supporting several projects at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo, Indonesia.
He also pointed out that the foundation aims to strengthen its strategic partnerships with humanitarian organisations locally and globally, focusing on fostering noble values and enhancing cooperation for the benefit of individuals and communities around the world.

The UAE's next long weekend might be closer than you think

News by Sarah Joseph July 3, 2025 Before the UAE National Holiday, another one-day holiday for residents can be closer than you think. One of the key dates in the 2025 UAE public holiday calendar is the Prophet Muhammad's birthday (PBUH), which falls on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi' Al-Awwal. The birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be the next public holiday in the UAE. Believed to be on Rabi Al Awwal 12, residents will get an extra one-day off, potentially leading to a long weekend in September. The next public holiday in the UAE is expected to be the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), likely falling on September 4 or 5, 2025. Thanks to a new law allowing holiday shifts, residents could enjoy a relaxing three-day weekend. When is Prophet Muhammad's Birthday in 2025? If Rabi' Al-Awwal begins on Monday August 25, then the Prophet Muhammad's birthday (PBUH) should fall on Friday September 5. This would give Dubai residents a three-day long weekend when combined with Saturday and Sunday. However, if Rabi' Al-Awwal begins on Sunday August 24, then Prophet Muhammad's birthday (PBUH) should fall on Thursday September 4. This would give Dubai residents an additional day off during the working week. When are the next holidays? This being said, more holidays are set to come later in the year, including Commemoration Day and National Day in early December. – For more on luxury lifestyle, news, fashion and beauty follow Emirates Woman on Facebook and Instagram Images: Supplied & Feature Image: Abu Dhabi Mosque
