Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approves establishment of state Quantum Mission
Addressing the media at the Secretariat, the Information and Public Relations Minister said the proposal was put forth by the Department of IT, Electronics and Communications and aims to align with India's broader National Quantum Mission (NQM).
A Quantum Valley will be developed in the capital city of Amaravati, with 50 acres of land earmarked for the project.
"In future, Andhra Pradesh will be on top in the world in quantum computing. From schools to universities, all of them will be involved in training," Parthasarathy said.
The state government has formed a committee of experts on quantum computing to guide the mission. The initiative seeks to embed quantum-related training across education levels, from schools to higher education institutions.
What is the National Quantum Mission?
The National Quantum Mission is a central government initiative aimed at advancing quantum technology and applications in India. Approved at a total outlay of ₹6,003.65 crore, it runs from 2023–24 to 2030–31 and supports infrastructure, research, and human resource development.

Lok Adalat is a win-win situation for both: SLSA
VIJAYAWADA: State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) Member Secretary and District & Sessions Judge BSV Hima Bindu on Thursday highlighted the advantages of resolving legal disputes through Lok Adalat and mediation, describing them as win-win mechanisms for both parties. Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat, she called on all stakeholders to extend support for the National Lok Adalat scheduled across Andhra Pradesh on July 5. The Lok Adalats will be conducted in all courts, including the High Court and the Debt Recovery Tribunal in Visakhapatnam, under the supervision of Executive Chairman and High Court Judge Ravinath Tilhari. She noted that resolving disputes through Lok Adalat not only saves time and money but also strengthens interpersonal relationships. Unlike court verdicts, which often benefit one side and may lead to appeals, Lok Adalats promote mutual agreement. Hima Bindu informed that 1,15,071 cases have been shortlisted for possible resolution. The High Court Legal Services Committee, 13 District Legal Services Authorities, and 147 Mandal Legal Services Authorities have already held 1,841 pre-Lok Adalat sittings and launched public awareness campaigns.

Polavaram-Banakacherla project within legal limits, benefits both states: CM Naidu
TIRUPATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday dismissed allegations surrounding Polavaram-Banakacherla Link Project, stating that it causes no harm to any region or state. Responding to criticism of the project, CM Naidu, while addressing the media in Kuppam, Chittoor district, clarified that the project is being executed within legal and technical frameworks. He emphasized that both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh can mutually benefit from the optimal use of Godavari river waters. 'I have never opposed, nor will I oppose, any irrigation project taken up by Telangana on the Godavari river,' Naidu said, recalling his role in initiating the Devadula Project for Telangana during the united Andhra Pradesh era. He also pointed to his contributions in bringing the Pushkara and Tadipudi lift irrigation projects to Andhra. Criticising the unfulfilled Yellampalli project initiated during the YSR regime, Naidu highlighted how over 2,000 TMC of Godavari water has been flowing into the sea annually for the past several years. 'Even utilising 200 TMC would be a game-changer for both states,' he asserted. The CM stressed that water-sharing cooperation could uplift the entire Telugu community and urged all stakeholders to act responsibly. 'Our mission is to reduce income disparities and raise living standards' Naidu came down heavily on those criticizing the government's P4 initiative, asserting that people who haven't spent 'even a single rupee for the poor' are now launching unwarranted attacks against a progressive welfare programme. Naidu defended the government's poverty alleviation efforts and called for a united societal approach to development. 'While our government is advancing with meaningful actions to reduce poverty, some individuals are busy making baseless allegations. Those who looted public resources without spending a single paisa on the poor are now questioning our intentions,' Naidu said.

Ensure fair prices for mangoes: CM N Chandrababu Naidu
TIRUPATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has urged mango farmers and pulp industries to work together to ensure fair prices for farmers, and sustained operation of processing units. He held an urgent review meeting with mango farmers, pulp industry representatives, and processing units of the erstwhile undivided Chittoor district on Thursday. Naidu directed the processing and pulp industries to immediately purchase mangoes from farmers to provide them relief. He assured that the government would also support the pulp and processing industries. He said the government would formulate a long-term plan to prevent future issues for mango farmers. Farmers brought to Naidu's attention that pulp industries were not purchasing mangoes, citing a lack of orders and storage space. Some farmers also reported that unloading itself was taking 3-4 days in certain areas. Responding to this, the Chief Minister instructed processing units and pulp industry representatives to immediately purchase the produce and support farmers. Mango pulp industries and exporters informed the Chief Minister that Pakistan and African countries have no import duties, while European countries impose high import duties. They urged Naidu to take up the matter with the Centre to persuade the European countries to reduce import duty. They also appealed for a reduction in GST on mango pulp from 12% to 5%. In response, the Chief Minister said he had already written to the Centre regarding the GST reduction, and would follow up on the matter again.
