This summer's status flip-flops

Love them or hate them, flip-flops are undergoing a luxury transformation. No longer are they reserved for beach holidays and shuffling back and forth from your pedicure. They can now be spotted on the front row and its environs, gracing the feet of fashion folk and Hollywood celebrities alike. They also recently made headlines after The Row, the brand started by the Olsen twins, put out its own Dune pair made of rubber and fabric, which sells for £670. Although the release was met with some surprise, the shoes appear to be selling like hot cakes on luxury retail sites like Net-a-Porter, where customer searches for 'The Row Dune' have increased by 775 per cent in the past three months. But this is not the most expensive pair ever made. In 2011, a brand called Chipkos crafted a pair worth $18,000. They were created as a charity project and featured 18-carat-gold Chipkos emblems as well as hand-painted designs by the artist David Palmer. The proceeds were used to protect 100,000 acres of Costa Rican rainforest. Flip-flops have been around since 4,000 BC. In ancient Egypt the pharaohs had a particular affinity for jewel-encrusted pairs, and plainer leather versions were also popular with the Romans. They eventually made their way to cultures around the world, adopted in South and Central America, India and Japan. It was in Japan that American soldiers first encountered the shoe, then called zori, during the Second World War. They brought pairs back to the US where they grew in popularity during the 1950s and 60s, quickly becoming associated with surf culture. California was the first place in the US to produce rubber flip-flops. You might need to spend a little extra time making sure your toes are looked after properly, but get this fancy flip-flop look right, and you'll come out looking like someone who's really in the know this summer. Here are some top picks for glam flip-flops: • This article contains affiliate links that can earn us revenue What better way to see what all the fuss is about than try a pair for yourself? Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson break cover after vicious message about NFL legend's ex is revealed

Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Jordon Hudson have been spotted in public after the coach's 24-year-old girlfriend brutally ripped his ex Linda Holliday in a private Instagram exchange. As the Daily Mail revealed exclusively earlier this week, Hudson mocked Holliday as 'pathetic' and 'delusional' after discovering a personal email she sent to Belichick during their 16-year relationship. Hudson engaged in the testy exchange after being called a 'gold digger' by an Instagram user she believed was Holliday's close friend. Hudson claimed that she 'found' the letter at Belichick's home near Boston, and sent a picture of it to her supposed friend, insisting that Holliday should 'burn it.' Neither Hudson nor Holliday responded to the Daily Mail's request for comment. However, Hudson and Belichick emerged over the weekend at the Nantucket Film Festival, according to Page Six. A source told the publication that Hudson and the 73-year-old coach 'partied all night with festival attendees.' The likes of Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor were also at the event. Belichick has been embedded in the Nantucket community dating back to his years with the Patriots, and his past and present collided in May when Holliday reportedly confronted Hudson and her friend at an event there. According to an incident report filed by an employee at a Christmas party - which was obtained by TMZ - Holliday was enraged by Hudson's presence at the December 6 event, which Holliday's daughters were DJing at. The incident report said that Holliday thought Hudson being there was 'inappropriate, since the event was widely advertised as a party headlined by her daughters.' The report claims that at 9:30pm, Holliday approached the member of staff and asked her to remove Hudson from the party. Hudson, who was at the event with fellow pageant contest Melissa Sapini, eventually agreed to leave the event - but told a staffer that Holliday threatened her friend while they were still on the dance floor. It was claimed Holliday told Hudson's friend that if she 'valued her current title, she should think twice about who her friends are' and that she 'had many powerful friends in the pageant organization.' Thus, it's not wholly unsurprising that Hudson would have choice words for Holliday months later after being prodded in a direct message exchange with a purported friend of Holliday's. Belichick and Hudson are gearing up for the start of UNC's football season in September Replying with a blistering and sarcastic retort she wrote: 'Hey babes! Since you are tight with Ms Holiday (sic), could you please ask her what she would like me to do with this letter I found from 2015? 'Due to its pathetic and embarrassing content, I imagine she wants it back,' she wrote, referring to the private email. She later continued: 'She should make the point to burn it so she continue to live in delusional denial (that her relationship with BB wasn't doomed yeaaaaars prior to him finally dumping her)' she continued.

Vin Diesel shocks as he announces VERY surprising return for final Fast & Furious film

Vin Diesel made quite the shocking announcement about the final Fast & Furious film over the weekend. The 57-year-old actor took the stage at Fuel Fest in Pomona, California on Saturday night, where he offered an update on Fast X Part 2. He was wearing a shirt that read, 'Fast X Part 2 Los Angeles Production 2025' while revealing his three demands to Universal Pictures for the final film. 'The studio said to me, "Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious [in] April 2027?"' Diesel said, confirming the release date. He continued, 'I said, "Under three conditions." First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing!' Diesel concluded, 'The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O'Conner,' referring to the late Paul Walker 's beloved character. Diesel was joined on stage by his co-star Tyrese Gibson, who shared a video of the fans screaming when he mentioned Dom and Brian O'Conner. The video shows Diesel adding, 'That is what you're gonna get in the finale! Love you!' he concluded, as the video showed Diesel giving Paul's mother Cheryl a hug. Gibson added, 'I've got love for every other city and every other country, but this Fast & Furious s**t started right here in L.A.' The first film - 2001's The Fast and the Furious - was indeed set in Los Angeles, following Walker's Brian O'Conner as an undercover LAPD cop sent to infiltrate Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and his crew. Walker was still filming 2015's Furious 7 when he died tragically in a car accident in November 2013. Production was halted for several months as the filmmakers tried to figure out how to deal with the Brian O'Connor character. When filming resumed, they decided to 'retire' the character, having him drive off into the sunset, leaving his criminal crew behind to spend more time with his family, set to the iconic Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth song See You Again for a poignant farewell. They used the late actor's brothers Cody and Caleb as stand-ins and digitally inserted the late actor's face on top of the brothers for the new shots. Brian O'Conner has never been seen in any of the subsequent Fast & Furious films, though he has been mentioned and he's still alive and well in the film universe. That will seemingly change in Fast X Part 2, with Diesel promising fans that they will in fact see Brian O'Conner again. It seems likely that they could either use unseen footage of Walker from the previous films or bring back Cody and Caleb Walker as stand-ins with Walker's face digitally added like they did on Furious 7. The Fast & Furious film franchise has grossed a whopping $7.2 billion at the global box office since its launch in 2001.
