When Sydney's owner returned home, they weren't greeted with the usual wagging tail. Instead, they found him in an unexpected predicament—tangled in a floor-length curtain.
In a video on TikTok with thousands of views, user @sydney_hallie1 shared the moment they got home to find rescue Labrador Sydney in the hilarious predicament.
"Syds magic trick.. still never worked out how he managed to do this!" the caption said. Wrapped in the drapes, Sydney didn't look too concerned, although clearly needed some help to get free.
"A good magician never reveals," quipped commenter Stephen J King on TikTok. While viewer Pezzeroo said: "How is that curtain rail still on the wall? My Lab would be dragging it around the house."
Another user, Jedz, summed up pet ownership and wrote: "Never a dull moment."
How Long Can You Leave a Dog Alone?
When it comes to leaving dogs alone at home, experts say adult dogs (1-7) years can generally be left for 4-8 hours. Beyond 8 hours can cause increased risk of anxiety or accidents.
Puppies under six months shouldn't be left for more than 2-3 hours, and the same applies for senior dogs or dogs with specific medical needs.
When leaving a dog alone, it always important to ensure they will be safe. Removing potentially dangerous items from reach, or using a crate while out, is a good idea to keep your dog safe.

Sydney was just fine after his curtain "trick," but his antics delighted the internet. In the video, the dog alongside Sydney, named Hallie, was in a crate while the owners were out, and one commenter joked: "Maybe he was the one who should be caged."
Some owners opt for the use of pet cams while they're out and about, and these can often offer hilarious insight to what pets get up to while their owners are away.
One owner shared how they left their puppy Pickle home alone and checked the camera footage, only to see that he simply waits patiently, staring at the door.
While other dogs have been caught on camera thinking they're home alone, when in fact her dad was just next door. In the video, the cavalier King Charles left people in stitches with her dramatic howls.

Dog's Reaction To Hearing Best Friend Is Coming Over Delights Internet

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A dog's overjoyed reaction to the mention of their best friend's name has tugged at the heartstrings of viewers on TikTok, with a viral video showing the pet erupting into howls of happiness drawing more than 2.2 million views since it was shared on July 22. Posted to TikTok by the dog's owner under @legitmfemerson, the short clip has amassed more than 428,000 likes to date. It opens with the pet owner calling out to their dog from the living room: "Guess who's coming over … Mabel's coming over …" In an instant, the dog—who had been resting on a couch—bolts upright, visibly alert and overwhelmed, and begins howling with uncontainable excitement. An overlaid text on the video revealed why the moment sparked such an enthused reaction: "We haven't said her best friend's name since we moved in November, because we didn't want her to think she was coming over, so I was low key afraid she forgot." But the dog had not forgotten. Their reaction suggested a strong emotional memory tied to the name of their canine companion, Mabel. The caption added, "Bougie and Maple forever," confirming the special bond between the two dogs and underlining the video's emotional core. The spontaneous joy, captured so candidly, appeared to strike a universal chord—especially among dog lovers on the platform. The comments section quickly filled with viewers expressing amusement, admiration, and their own stories of pets remembering names, people, and friends after long absences. "I accidentally did this to my parent's Great Dane after their other dog who the Great Dane was obsessed with died," one viewer said. "I walked in and just instinctively was like where's Gracie and she went and searched everywhere … I felt bad." "Didn't see my dog for a year after my parents separated and my dad took him (I stayed with my mum) I was heartbroken and terrified he'd forgotten me," another added. "My dad said my name and that I was coming and with no hesitation he started looking for me looking everywhere and going to the patio window like 'where she at?!' Happiest boy when I come over." "We are going to have to see Maple arrive now I'm afraid," one viewer said. "I love it when people love their pets," another commented, while a third added: "Ok well this just made my whole day." Woman Asks Husband To Pick TV for Bedroom—Unprepared for What She Finds

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A couple online have proven that, when it comes to design choices, bigger is better—even if it is a bit shocking at first. When Lauryn Windham Franks, 35, decided to delegate the task of choosing a new television for their master bedroom to her husband, Colin, she anticipated a practical, perhaps aesthetically pleasing, choice. What she got instead was a screen so massive that it instantly became a sensation on TikTok, showcasing the disparity in their design visions. Franks told Newsweek about the hilariously large TV her husband brought home when she left him to his devices. "I left my husband in charge of picking the TV for our master bedroom because I was tired of making decisions," Franks captioned the video. "I was thinking more of a pretty frame TV, but okay." Photos from Lauryn Windham Franks' TikTok video of her husband laying watching television, left; and their child in front of the massive screen, right. As Franks said, Colin had handled the structural elements of their home build, while she focused on the design. Given her lack of interest in researching televisions, though, Franks "truthfully didn't care what he bought—just like he didn't care what kind of furniture I bought." The surprise, however, was monumental—it was a 98-inch screen. Franks said that the video was "all in good fun," adding that "I laughed when I saw him, and told him I'm now really excited to watch my shows." The sheer scale of the TV resonated with countless TikTok users, many of whom shared their own experiences with gigantic televisions and surprising design choices. "'It's not that big,' he says as the TV takes up half the wall and is taller than your child," one person wrote. Another user highlighted the common issue of TV size versus viewing distance: "Y'all are also absurdly close to the screen for its size." Some related to the compromises, or surrenders, in shared living spaces. "We have a 75 [inch] in our room and 86 [inch] in the living room," one parent wrote. "'Bluey' is on them. I don't get to watch my shows anymore." The power dynamics of significant purchases also came to light: "My husband knows exactly what day before my period starts that I will agree to spend more money," a commenter shared. "That's how he knew what day we needed to go to Best Buy for this same reason—he admitted he knows 'the signs.'" Franks' TikTok is an entertaining look into their home-building process, from start to finish, including decorating, managing their eight acres, balancing work and family life, and Disney vacations. The unexpected master bedroom TV choice is just the latest chapter in the relatable journey of creating their dream home.
