Parents-of-22 Noel and Sue Radford fight back tears as they reveal ‘heartbreaking' moment that rocked their family
In the most recent episode of 22 Kids & Counting, which will air on Channel 5 later this evening, Sue and Noel Radford fight back tears after learning that their best friend's daughter, Sophie Walker, 17, had died.

On 6 July 2024, Sophie's cancer battle came to a devastating end, leaving the Radford family 'broken.'
Now, during the emotional scenes of the latest episode of the Radford show, dad-of-22 Noel, 54, revealed the exact moment he received a shocking text from his close friend Jamie Walker, informing the family of Sophie's passing.
The brave teenager started a four-week course of chemotherapy shortly after being diagnosed on October 25 2017.
Over the years, she went into remission twice but relapsed four times.
She battled for seven years with Wilms tumour - a rare type of kidney cancer - and doctors discovered a tumour on her spine, which led to her tragic passing.
Sophie died with her twin sister Megan, 17, by her side, on what would have been the 10th birthday of Sue and Noel's 17th child Alfie, who was stillborn.
As Noel and his wife-of-32-years Sue fought back tears after hearing the news, Noel said: 'God, it's horrible isn't it?
'I got the text from Jamie that we've been absolutely dreading.'
Noel gave viewers a close-up look at the tragic text, which alongside broken heart emojis, read: 'Sophie has gone, mate, hopefully to a better place.'
Moments later, Noel, who recently met his birth mother for the first time since being adopted at just 10 days old, explained: 'It doesn't feel right.

'Their 17-year-old daughter has been taken away from them.'
For Noel and Sue, sharing the devastating news with their huge family would come as a challenge, as the pie shop owner shared: "Obviously the older ones understand, but to the likes of Hallie, Phoebe, Archie, Bonnie, they don't quite understand it the same.'
The Radfords and the Walkers
THE Radford family have been friends with Rebecca's 10 kids since 2013.
Rebecca, who runs a hostel with husband Jamie, said: "We used to live in Morecambe, which is how we met the Radford family.
"When I was pregnant with the twins, I told my midwife that I was nervous about my growing family.
"My midwife told me that one of her ladies had just had her 13th baby and was doing great, which made me feel better.
"Morecambe isn't a big place, so my husband Jamie and I reached out to Sue and Noel."
The two families quickly bonded and would often go on holiday together to France or Cornwall.
In 2014, the Walkers moved to Edinburgh but remained close to the Radfords, seeing them several times a year.
Mum-of-22 Sue, 50, who had her first child at the age of 13, found herself lost for words and it was clear that the family were left equally as heartbroken as their parents, as seven-year-old Archie admitted: 'Phoebe's just came into the room and said Sophie's passed away.
'I don't really believe her, I don't really want to believe her.
'I didn't expect anything like this to happen, especially on Alfie's birthday.'
Following this, Oscar, 13, acknowledged: 'She was literally like a sister to us.
'I'm trying to distract myself. I don't want it to be in my mind all the time.'
Gutted by the news, the family's matriarch then claimed: 'Rebecca messaged to say that our babies will forever share this day.'

Distraught for their close friends, Noel added: 'I just worry about Jamie and Rebecca and the rest of the family, how they're going to cope.
'Everything they do now is going to be without Sophie.'
Later in the episode, on the day before the funeral, Noel continued: 'I didn't think this day would ever come, you always thought she'd get better and live her life and yet, here we are.'
What is Wilms tumour?
WILMS tumours are a type of kidney cancer that mainly affect children.
They are also called nephroblastomas as they develop from cells called nephroblasts.
Kidney cancer in children is rare but Wilms tumour is the most common type.
About 85 children between the ages of 0 and 14 years are diagnosed with Wilms tumour each year in the UK - mostly children under 5.
Rarely, Wilms tumours can develop in older children and very rarely, in adults.
Wilms tumours usually only affect one kidney but in fewer than 10 out of 100 children, they can affect both kidneys.
The most common symptom is a painless swelling of the abdomen.
Parents might notice a lump in the tummy when bathing the baby, or if their child suddenly jumps a nappy size.
A healthcare worker might notice a swollen tummy when the child is having a routine appointment.
Other less common symptoms include:
blood in their wee (urine)
pain caused by bleeding inside the tumour
loss of appetite
raised blood pressure
high temperature (fever)
weight loss
constipation
generally feeling unwell
being irritable due to their tummy feeling uncomfortable
shortness of breath and cough (usually if the cancer has spread to the lungs)
Two of the Radford children, Ellie and Aimee, prepared a speech for the emotional day and whilst holding back tears, 19-year-old Aimee cried: 'You would have never thought that we would be writing a goodbye to Sophie, when she's so young, had her whole life ahead of her.'
To which Ellie, 20, agreed: 'Yeah, I think that's why it's so hard to write.'

Aimee then sobbed: 'Knowing that you're saying a goodbye is really hard.'
To this, Noel, who broke down in tears on the last series, observed: 'I'm extremely proud of Aimee and Ellie wanting to get up and speak. I couldn't do it. No matter how difficult it will be, they're gonna do it.
'Grief is always going to be hard, but focusing on the good times you've had can really help.'

One of the new additions included a trampoline bed that sits across the swimming pool, and the Love Island exec has insisted it has been tested for up to four people. The secret hideaway - which included a bed and hot tub - was open 24 hours a day for those that aren't coupled up. Speaking ahead of the 10-year anniversary series of the hit reality show, Mike told the Mail: 'There's a new trampoline bed, that would be good for throuples. 'It can take the weight of four, we've checked. It's all about keeping the show fresh and exciting. And that's what we've got.' The producers' desire for a threesome was fulfilled too, with at least one taking place and bombshell Yasmin Pettet, 24, openly suggesting the possibility upon her arrival. While it's not known exactly how many condoms were supplied to the 2025 islanders, previous reports suggested that producers dispersed 200 around the villa.

has reportedly dropped his legal case against Jade Goody 's mum Jackiey Budden. It was previously revealed that Jeff, had set up a court date to stop his youngest son Freddy, 20, from seeing his maternal grandmother amid rising concerns over his well being. Jeff has long insisted she is a bad influence on the troubled youngster - with the pair enduring a series of very public disputes over the years. However now The Sun has revealed that the family have now patched things up and Jeff has dropped his legal case. A source told the publication that Freddy is once again living with Jackiey in her flat in South London, but is also spending time with Jeff and Bobby. Last week the TV presenter was seen reunited with his sons at 101 Dalmatians: The Musical at the Eventim Apollo in London, where Jeff made his West End debut. The source said: 'Effectively they've all made peace for the time being and are trying to make things better again, which is doing them the world of good. 'It's actually the perfect outcome for everyone, and exactly what Jade would have wanted. The boys are happier for it, and the constant in-fighting has stopped... for now. While Jeff and Jackiey will never be friends, they added: 'Freddy remains devoted to her — and was threatening to leave the UK to be with his grandmother abroad if Jeff carried on his legal case.' While a few weeks ago it still looked as though court action would be taken, they have instead reached a peaceful resolution. Daily Mail has contacted Jeff's representatives for comment. In June, Freddy announced on Instagram that he was going to a rehabilitation centre in Spain, admitting he had been addicted to smoking since he was 12 and was keen to seek treatment. He said: 'I've been smoking from the age of 12 and it's time to stop it was a bad coping mechanism that turned into an addiction something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and somewhat okay.' But days after the admission, Freddy posted again online saying he had changed his mind, writing: 'You know what I don't need rehab. I just need a holiday with a good group of boys or a retreat.' Freddy lost his mother, former Big Brother star Jade, to cervical cancer in 2009 when he was just four years old. The Block's Dan and Dani Reilly break down while sharing heartbreaking family tragedy
There was barely a dry eye in the house on Monday's episode of The Block as Dan Reilly opened up about his heartbreaking family tragedy. The series foreman kicked off the episode's pre-start meeting with wife Dani, who broke down as they spoke for the first time on television about the loss of their daughter, Billie. The reality TV couple tragically lost their daughter in December last year at just ten days old. 'I guess most people here would know our journey last year. We had our little girl, Billie – she arrived on the eighth of the twelfth last year,' Dan told the assembled cast and crew. 'Due to some... complications through birth we only got to spend ten days with our beautiful girl, Billie.' As the mood became more sombre, Dani continued: 'So, we're actually very grateful for those ten days – her time was spent in the NICU department at the Women's Hospital in Melbourne.' He was quick to praise the NICU staff, with Dani echoing his sentiments. 'Unfortunately, it didn't end in the way that it should have for us, but our time there, as Dan said, was really with Billie,' Dani said. 'Getting to know the nurses and doctors will be probably one of the things that we remember forever.' Dan then added that he and Dani were on a 'mission' to raise funds and awareness for NICUs around the country as well as Red Nose Australia. 'Their support for us has been absolutely amazing and they guide you through something that nobody should ever have to go through.' Dani added: 'And we're grateful for The Block for giving us the platform to be able to raise awareness for these organisations that were there for us.' To honour their daughter's memory, Dan and Dani have established Billie's Besties, a foundation that aims to raise money for the NICU at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne. The couple struggled to hold back tears as they recounted the harrowing story, and tenderly embraced as the teams also became visibly emotional. Since December, the couple has raised more than $93,000 for NICU support as a tribute to Billie. The reality TV couple took to Instagram in December to share the devastating news that their daughter, Billie Vera Reilly, had passed away on Wednesday at just 10 days old. They posted a photograph of themselves with their arms around one another as they stood beside their daughter's cot in hospital. In a heartbreaking tribute, Dani shared her 'insurmountable' grief and said she and Dan both felt 'honoured' to be Billie's parents. They wrote: 'Billie Vera Reilly 8/12/24 - 18/12/24. It is with insurmountable grief that we share the news that our daughter Billie, has passed on from this life and into the next at just 10 days young. 'In Billie's short time in this world, she taught us an intensity of both love and pain we never knew possible. She taught us what really matters. 'Billie was so wanted, so loved and she made us parents… and what an honour it is to be her mummy and daddy. She will always be our daughter. 'It's clear to us that Billie was far too good for this world but if we know anything for sure, it's that Billie's legacy will make an impact greater than all of us. 'Thank you @mrskevinsphotos for capturing such beautiful family photos for us and also for @heartfelt_ausnz for capturing many of Billie's firsts.' The couple first hit national attention when they appeared on the 2012 series of The Block. The pair, who were dating at the time, took out second place honours and a profit of $448,000. The pair returned in 2013 for The Block All Stars series, walking away with third place and a profit of $220,000. Dan has since taken on a role as foreman on the show and they also host the Dan vs Dani series, critiquing each team's Room Reveals every week. The couple tied the knot in 2018 in an intimate ceremony on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
